Yeah I already created a new character just because the cane wasnt cutting it... literally. It misses when standing right next to the boss :S

Same, too frustrating it's cool but a piece of shit.

It is hard but not impossible it seems. Need to be a bit more aggressive with the attacks during the brief openings. Another poster did it quite well

Gonna be honest, I find this game so much more stressful than Dark Souls. Very reminiscent of the feeling I had when playing Demon's Souls.

You can cast it during bosses. It takes a confirmation box an like 2 seconds till you're out. They are like 600 (?) be in the beginning, I don't know exactly because I found mine

I love the Elder Scrolls games. What that in mind, will I enjoy this game? I've never played Dark Souls.

I've always played mages in Souls games, so melee is a bit of a new experience for me. I started with the cane, but I didn't like it that much and switched to cleaver. Doing okay with it so far, although I'm not finding a lot of use for the transformed mode other than using the R2 attack on a big group of enemies.

Probably more useful with heavy 2h weapon since you can combo into the switch from: fast swing=>stun=>slow heavy dmg=>stun combo until out of stam.

guys is there a level limit for coop play. I've been trying to play coop with a buddy in an area that ive already beaten (he hasn't) and we couldnt get it to work. He rang the bell and i range the bell that specifically targets the bell ringer.

I like how the Treaded Cane cost the highest. It's taunting you to pick it as your first weapon and suffer from it's lack luster damage.

I think you can summon an npc, if you want, for the first boss. you probably need to find the Beckoning Bell first though.

Try it. If you have to die at the boss to unlock just do it, run back (shortcut!) and use the bone thing.

For what it's worth, the reviewer who wrote for the escapist, in the first video of his Let's Play (not blind, obviously since he beat the game for his review) said that he loved the Threaded Cane and used it throughout his entire 35 hour first playthrough.

Yeah, it is awesome, but tricky as hell. No defense other than that and quick-step/dodge and it feels deadlier than ever.

It has longer range, but it seems to be weaker. The extended R2 attack is good for groups... dunno about the extended R1 attack, seems kinda bad to me, but I'm sure it has a use.

Nope, not every weapon is 2h. You can still use the pistol etc. while extended.

Noticed that second part as well. At first I'd regain some blood vials each time I died but now I get nothing

When you respawn your ammo and blood vials are refilled from your stock. If you have run out of stock you don't get them refilled. You need to go collect/buy some more.

If you want a tip on how to beat the first boss regardless of mainhand weapon:

Shooting him in the head a few times will make him fall over and let you preform a "visceral attack" on him that will do a bunch of damage regardless of main hand weapon. You then have to wait for him to regenerate his head and then you can do it again. Note that this is easiest with the pistol, the blunderbuss doesn't have the range/has too much spread while the pistol can do it in like 3 shots from a safe distance.

Hah, well, I restarted my game and picked the cleaver, and managed to get back to basically the same spot I was before after three hours in the span of about ten minutes. That's that Souls magic for ya.

You can get it before that. In the

sewer like area with all of the rats (near two ladders and a shortcut back) you can find one insight. Go back and you can level up and get the bell prior to the first boss.

Depends. I have the cane and love it, but I haven't run into the first boss yet. Worst case, you can go back and buy the other weapons. No need to start over.
