This game is so damn good. Was getting my ass handed to me until I made my first equipment upgrade.

Accumulated a couple thousand souls, lost it all to a
pig
. I love this game.

Use the shards. They're only used for +1 to +3, from what I've seen so far. I don't think the final upgrade is gonna call for 80 of them and make you regret using them on weapons you don't main. :P

I'm about 50 hours in and it's only gotten darker. :P

Thank you very much!
Should I save the dew?

And everyone, any help with the PS4 Wi-Fi? So, so frustrating.

I just can't seem to kill the first boss. Argh.

I managed to beat it by taking 10 molotov cocktails. They do a ton of damage to it. Also use your gun to stun from range then go in and press R1 for a big blow.

I think the key for me was not going in and swinging like crazy. Ranged molotovs and maneuvering to its backside for some safe hits ensured victory for me. Upgrading to the Hunter's set may help too.

So in the Souls games, I was always a Dex player. Upon looking at the stats, starting weapons and classes, I think I'm going to go this route:

Class: Lone Survivor
Weapon: Threaded Cane
Firearm: Blunderbuss

Hoping the rest of my day goes quickly so I can dive into this bad boy tonight.

I knew it! I was sure I knew this style of enemy from somewhere, I just couldn't figure it out.

It's literally RE4 villagers, NPCs even call you "outsider" lol fantastic

Now I'm even more excited! god damn Friday release date!

That reviewer made another RE4 enemy comparison, but tbh I wish I hadn't heard it as it sounds slightly spoiler-ish to me.

Does starting class matter much? How do i know if i want to start with higher arcane or bloodtinge etc. if i don't know what weapons those stats control? (Going in blind btw)

Also does starting weapon matter much?(if I choose saw but later want the axe?)

so it's not worth using the repeating pistol over the hunters pistol, right? I mean they're just parry set-ups and it uses an extra bullet each time :/

Gonna have to try it again tomorrow. I think I need to get some echoes from the normal enemies and upgrade my weapon and get some levels. I really suck at this game, but on the upside, the only way is up.

AH! One more question: can we still kill essential NPCs? I killed a man in a wheelchair before checking if it was evil or not. I remember killing a merchant while trying to look for items in Demon's, I missed him later on ><

Maybe open up some ports on your router? That may help, especially if you don't have an open NAT.

Yeah, you can kill NPCs. Probably not a good idea for your first playthrough.

That fucker with the
Turret
got me so many times.

Probably my favorite Bloodborne moment at the point I'm on was probably when
That Hunter out of nowhere starts firing at you with a turret, and you have to find cover and hide.
That has never happened in a souls game before, so unique.

In old yanham,
thought the guy on the machine gun would be a scrub once I got up there. Turns out...nope, got completely annihilated
!

My last day of working in retail is tomorrow. I get the nightmare edition on friday, and i start my new job on the 6th of april.

Hyped as fuck doesn't even begin to cover my joy atm. :)

The real Fashionborne starts here

I hope there's a lot more variety, though.

GIMME DAT VICTORIAN DRESS, FROM.

Was he in a dark house with other enemies? if so, your fine.

Thank you very much!

Dew just nets you some echoes. I tend to use them if I'm close to a level up cost or item I wanna buy. A few thousand echoes away? Have some dew/coldblood instead of going out, farming a little bit and coming back.

Or if I die and need to repair/fortify and need to cover the cost.

That's where I'm exploring now. I know I've found 2 paths so far. One along the rocky paths where giants throw boulders are you, and another down in the poisonous water which leads to a cliffside path that has a really weird brain enemy. That second area/enemy causes Frenzy and I haven't been able to get past it, so I'm going along the mountains now.

Where is that first path? I can only find that frenzy part lol which I hate lol.

ok, to the people who had difficulty getting into the souls games and bought this anyway...do you like the game? do you regret your purchase? is it too hard for you?

I think I almost beat the first level, but when I was looking for a shortcut I took a skeleton path and died. Damn it lol.

I have all these stones and shit and no way to use them.

I have rung the beckoning chime several times for the past 4 hours and never got a single summon. Am I missing something here? I just ring it, right? I have the symbol on the upper left, and it says it's searching for chimes every minute...

The hype, in a long time, seems to be matched by the quality of the game.

Played two hours, beat the cleric beast on 3rd attemp. Where next? Are the sewer areas ok to explore next?

I don't suppose there is a way to force my ps4 to download the patch while I wait for the disc to arrive today? O.o

That should be a thing.

You can do it on the 3DS (though the updates are way smaller, of course)

I haven't even killed the cleric beast and I'm almost done with the sewers ;) well, at least that's what it looks like.

Is there a big difference between NAT Type 1 and 2? My connection is fine, just want to make sure it's optimal.

NAT1 or NAT2 are perfectly fine. NAT1 is fully open, so this could cause security issues. NAT2 is preferable.

And I hear downloading while the PS4 is in Rest Mode is slightly faster. Sony's servers just aren't very good.

How do you "level up"
Came here to ask this same question. I've been playing for an hour, lost 5-6000 souls (or whatever you kids call them these days) and opened a shortcut, but still haven't a clue on how to level or where to go.

Edit:

We have to beat the first boss :(

Then something changes in the dream

Crap, that will probably take me a while. It even took me half an hour before I found out how to equip the weapon.
