Loving the game so far, can some one explain how scaling works with weapons. For example if I increase my strength stat, will that reflect on my saw cleaver, making it's physical atk stronger?

Scaling shows in the weapon stats with grade letters

For example, a weapon with with an E STR rating will not get much damage from each STR point, but a weapon with C STR rating will get a lot stronger for each point you put in it.
 
So in general is this a hard game?

I've not played any FROM SOFTWARE games before.

Weapons scale by grades, so a weapon with "A" scaling in Str gets the most benefit from Strength compared to a "D" grade. Upgrading the weapon can increase the grade. The actual math for what what damage you get dependent on what your skill is at I have no idea.

Grrr!! So I died in the seweres, I fell in an unexplored area. Now, I can see my blood echoes from across the way...but cannot get to them. I go through the broken window, and jump down to the ledge, and if you look straight across the room, to the otherside you see the place where they are! I have been running around there for an hour, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get over there.
 
Okay thats it, im caving. Time to buy a digital copy. Thanks for not being clear whether i'll get the CE today Amazon.
 
Urg, this second boss. I can kind of use the environment for the first round but when it
changes into its second form. Too damn fast and it never lets up its attacks.
 
So if anyone is in the
Cathedral
Ward and wants a cool detour, follow these instructions:

Go out the front doors of the cathedral, hook around the carriage and go right, into a corner. There should be a tall blue enemy with a bag slung over his shoulder. Let him kill you.

I've seen a lot of people saying that the cane is a more difficult starting weapon. Why? Is it just the damage output or the speed of the swings?

He hasn't been deconfirmed yet. Although even if he's not in it we need to keep his spirit of excellence alive. :)
 
Oh wow.....best buy didn't ship till today....what the fuck. The whole point of free expedited shipping is shipping it Monday and getting it today. Not Wednesday. They got me final fantasy on time.....I don't get it.

Think of them as investments. If you feel you have more than you are willing to lose, go back to the Dream and spend them - preferably to level up and then upgrade your weapon.
 
So I resumed reading The Name of the Wind while waiting for the game to unlock and it got good and I kinda can't put it down now lol. First BB and PoE getting released right after the other, now this. I'm not gonna get a second of studying done next weekend.

Its like any other game. You have to play by its rules, no exceptions. Like in a mario game, you have to jump to pass levels, just walking along the level will get you killed. In Souls games, you have to be patient, think before attacking and be prepared to fall back. You cant just swing along your weapon like a regular action game else you'll never get anywhere and be frustrated from multiple deaths.

Havent played Bloodborne yet so Im ready to smoke this joint. Played the past games and beat DeS/DS. (passed on DS2)

Yeah, if you buy a digital copy, the PS4 can download (seemingly faster) in rest mode.

Ignore the part where they recommend the threaded cane as a beginner's weapon. Go with the Saw Cleaver instead.
