haha wtf, never knew this and have probably 60+ hours of this game on my back.
Frampt trades souls for your shit if you feed him them

I think you need to grab the Lordvessel first? I don't remember
Well balls to that, I'm gonna have to accept this gun huh? Fine, more loading screens for me untill I get the hang of it. Having to roll around all the time is a bit messy, especially when in really tight corridors or alleyways. I suppose I'll have to get better then.
You don't have to accept the gun, there's other stuff you can use on your left hand

Can someone explain to me the Kirkhammer? Where/when you get it etc.

Seems to be a big hit and I kind of want to use it when I get the game.

Also, Str or Skill builds better? Was gonna do a mix of both, but if Str is better than Skill or vice versa I'll go with one or the other.

HOLY SHIT IT WENT LIKE 2X FASTER. CURRENTLY AT 17.99 GB!!!

Gonna put it on rest again!

Fuck, I love you guys so, so much

after playing over 12 hours and downing 4 bosses + 1 chalice boss, my core complaint with the game (aside from online either not working or not existing, I've never seen a summon sign, and I've never been able to summon anyone) is that there's no real reward to anything.

rpg structure is beat a boss, get something cool. beat a dungeon, get something cool. in this game, it's beat a boss, get basically nothing. beat a dungeon, get basically nothing. it makes it less exciting to explore and conquer. some of the fun is in the doing, of course, but the lack of any loot is a downer.

I've killed random hunters in the world, some of which looked to sport some cool gear, and never got anything for it either. even though they were hard fights. well, one of them dropped a consumable weapon buff. consumables is the height of what you get as loot in this game most the time.

I wonder how many more dozens of hours it'll be before I encounter a new weapon or outfit.

I guess I'm about 10 hours in? Only at the third boss. I
talked to an NPC at one of the doors with the pink lamps. I don't remember which NPC this was or know what triggers her giving it away, probably killing a boss

Nice, thanks. Will have to try to find it.

For the Kirkhammer,
kill the Cleric Beast then buy it from the merchant at the Dream

If I co op help some random

- are my echos safe? or if I die they are gone?
- can they kill me? friendly fire?

First time playing one of these games, and as expected, I'm not very good at it.
Can pretty easily dodge/kill small mobs of 2-3 but big dude with the axe kills the shit out of me. Haven't figured out how to stun him with the pistol yet. Probably lost about 1000 blood echoes to him in about 20 minutes.

I'm going to try to help out random folks with the early bosses when I get home. I'm curious how well the online compares to Dark Souls 2 on PC.

This is way harder starting out as a Waste of Skin compared to a Deprived in Dark Souls 1/2. I need to level up ;-;

The blood echo placement is weird too, when I die I have no idea where it will be. It's often far, far away from where I died.

Ah that, yeah but you don't really get much souls from him and you have to feed him good stuff. Easier to farm the forest or Anor Londo for souls.

He’s sort of the second boss. The boss you should try first is on a bridge past two werewolves (which are harder to fight past than the boss itself, in my opinion).

I recommend encountering the first boss because then you can start to level up through the doll, I think (not sure if she comes alive if you go to the second boss first).
She's alive now, haven't encountered the first boss yet. Headed to the bridge now.

Gaf, I need help with Father Gascoine. I got my bell rang right outside his fog gate. Im using the Gaf password.

Did you get the (small item / tactics spoiler)
music box? If you equip it during the fight and use it with square, it stuns him and you get some good hits in.
Also, try shooting right as he attacks. He's pretty easy to parry.

I'd help in game but I just passed him, sorry.

I've just killed third boss
Blood Starved Beast

Am I right in going to the big gate you need to open with an emblem bought in the HD?

And is it insane that I'm scared I'll be finishing the game soon? I'm having too much fun

Goddamn, not ten minutes in and this is already oozing with atmosphere. From are the masters in that regard, can't wait to get stuck in. Here's a couple of GIFs;

No backstabbing?

Not directly, no, but if you manage to get a fully charged strong attack off on an enemy from behind, they drop and you can do the brutal attack for massive damage. "Parrying" with the gun is the de facto way to get critical hits now. Fighting is much more frontal, I can't really think of any enemies I've circle strafed like I did in Dark Souls.
