Shoot them when they are mid swing with their attacks

Yeah, Stone is correct, and these guys, I wait until the move they use is the stationary one where they put the axe over their head (which is the timing). If they do jump attacks or run at you, dodge instead.

Making progress now and I'm really getting back into the groove. I'd say this game is considerably different from the Dark Soul's, at least, where it will take time understanding the core gameplay again and mastering it. Feels like Demon's Souls all over again.

Man, I am so bad at this. I get to the fountain square and then just lose momentum and get dogged to death.

I love the game.. but I am really frustrated at the infrequency of spawn points. I'm still near the first spawn point and I get to these two large wolves and keep dying... then I have to trudge all the way back through the level to die again.
There's a way around the wolves.
Go left in the big fountain courtyard instead of right. Next to the snooty NPC woman there's a path hidden by some wooden debris you can roll through.

Holy crap
Vicar Amelia on my second try, I'm on a roll!!!!

Man some of you absolutely suck at using spoiler tags. You don't quote anything, you don't give any hint as to the contents of your spoiler. Do we need a YT tutorial vid on how and when to use them?

Hrm well I'm in the first area and I've found myself in this catwalk type area along with an NPC. It seems like I have no where to go now. Do I jump down somehow or will I dramatically injure myself?

I have an item to warp back to the start while retaining my blood echos. I'm almost inclined to use it...

Any thoughts? This area is just past the dog cages.

So what kind of variety in builds is there?

It appears like there's very little? So if it's not weapon/gun combo, it's nothing?

I'm seeing a bit of variety thanks to the weapon transformation system. Quick shortsword/greatsword swapping, etc. But I am a bit worried about this too since the build variety was the biggest draw for me in the previous games.

Holy hell, I feel like I'm finally "getting" it in Bloodborne now, though. Took like 2, 2 and a half hours to UNLEARN Dark Souls 2 reactions to combat.

Can't be overstated enough: You have to be an aggressive motherfucker guys. If you get hit, don't dodge or roll or runaway unless you absolutely know you're going to get hit for fatal damage; take it, and get that health right back by using quick attacks. As long as you do this and nail the timing on parry big enemies, you'll breeze through the (early) areas I feel (there are some nasty enemies that don't show up much you have to be wary of though -- steer clear from "unique looking" things until you aren't holding on to too many souls. Or whatever they're called now.

Finally got patched up and my dumb ass has been in the character creation bit for almost an hour. Now wife and kids almost home from soccer practice. Shit.

She knows what I'm up to though. She's going to create some space/time for me. Good woman.

It's been 12 hours since my copy from Amazon has been "out for delivery." I've just been reading this thread all day and reading everyone's post. I really should have just bought the digital version. Fuck UPS.

Just unlocked the shortcut between where you start out and the bridge. Basically I've done the path that was in the alpha. Holy shit either my skills worsen (I haven't played a Souls game in a couple of months) or they've really gone all out because I died a lot times when in the alpha I only died one time getting to the bridge.

Loving it so far.
Where is it, I'm desperate lol

After waiting all day for the game to unlock and another hour in the character editor I have to stop playing now because I'm too tired. Fuck me.

It seems like one of the bigger complains about DS2 was the overwhelming number of humanoid bosses. This game seems to have overcorrected that
with a ton of somewhat similar beast/quadruped bosses
.

Bosses have been really fantastic so far so though hopefully I am just simplifying things here.

Where do I go to spend the blood echoes for experience?

You need to die once [or win] at Cleric Beast. Then puppet girl in Hunters Dream will wake up. You can purchase stat upgrades from her.

Does the TouchPad do anything in this game? I'm sitting at work imagining the controls and I just realized I never even tried it

One side of touchpad is for gestures, the other side for non-combat items.

I'm trying to farm the enemies with the bag for twin shards but fuck they one-shot me, also the drop rate isn't really high. I get normal shards most of the time.

any better place to farm those?
