So I got killed by some
dude with a bag over his shoulder, and teleported me to the Unseen village. How do I get out, and the mobs here are super tough.

If you go up the spiral staircase to the top (you can run and just avoid the enemies) you'll find a Lantern to let you teleport out. There's probably another way out, but it immediately scared me off.

bosses downed:

1)
cleric beast
2)
father whatever
3)
bloodstarved
4)
the chick who turned into the goat thing

not entirely sure where to go next. I know of a room where an
invisible giant picks me up and kills me
, and I know of a path that leads to
some kind of forest.
should I go to the
forest
?

Goddamn, cleric beast is destroying me. Even +2 cane does shit damage, I'm having second thoughts about the starting weapon lol.

Of course, if PSN wasn't fucking shit, I could be summoning people to help me. Fuck's sake.

e: well, at least there's no hollowing system so dying continuously isn't that big a deal. thank god.

I will probably do the same... I am just not 100% sold on the professional origin.. Military vet might be better

I went military vet for my skill build because it has the lowest arcane. The extra STR might come in handy for later skill based weapons too.

I haven't tried the cane, but I started with the axe and I've been plowing through the regular enemies. The 2 handed mode has a lot of reach and the normal attack in that mode is a pretty wide slash that can hit multiple enemies in front of you. I've been one shotting some of the regular enemies with the R2 attack and charging it fully lets me kill some of the beefier enemies with one blow.

Wait, charging it??? Did I miss something?

Yeah I just got out, ended up running into a boss room
Darkbeast Paarl
and immediately hunter marked out back to lantern.

Perhaps. 14 STR and 13 SKILL are decent, but Arcane is low, which means weaker molotovs. And Professional has 2 more END. I also really like the description for Professional: "Born specialist, fit for sleuthing or academia."

Holding down R2 lets you charge your attack. If you do this facing an unsuspecting enemy's back, you can "backstab" them with R1 immediately afterwards.

You can stagger it by shooting it in the head when it's attacking. You can also do some good damage with molotov cocktails. To avoid the jumping attack, roll close to it or get as far away as possible.

Game's fun. I beat Cleric Beast on without dying. I think I like the idea of Dark Souls more than playing it, but Bloodborne is definitely my bag. I accidentally almost completely circumvented the first area by going through the aqueducts before fighting the Cleric Beast. I sadly didn't get to fight with Father Gascigone before fighting him.

I'm such a noob to this whole thing. I chose Lone Survivor and saw cleaver/blunderbuss.

I'm able to defeat the first few humans easily but the crowd quickly overwhelms me. There's also this big motherfucker down the end of the road, but he owns me fast. WTF do I do? Lol. I'm enjoying the shit out of it though.

K holy shit this is intense lol, first souls game. Finally made my way through the first mob, the giant, the dog pack and now there's the werewolves.. I really don't want to die and lose my echoes? Any way to save them before I inevitably fall lol

BTW this is so awesome. Love it so far.

Does it matter which attack you shoot when trying to stagger? Or any of them?

I could use some directions on what to do after doing five bosses. Specifically after
the witch
. I'm completely lost here. I guess I'm supposed to have some sort of
password
by now, if I remember correctly

Well I have never played a game like this, but been talking about it with the wife the past few days, and came home to a copy of it sitting in my game room, gift from the wife :). Now to try not to give up, and throw my controllers. But game seems to be getting praise every where, hope I enjoy it.

Many shortcuts in Central Yarhnam opened, swag acquired, now to eat and struggle on.
Two hours in and damn the atmosphere is just oozing. The audiovisual side is amazing.

So guys, (early location spoiler and hazard)
In Old Yharnam, the machine gun guy
what the heck do I do? I saw another path from
Chapel Area
Do I do that first?

oh! I do like sleuthing.

there needs to be a sherlock holmes style hat in the game.

Father Douchebag is pissing me off, lol. I can get to his
beast mode but then he just very quickly finishes me off. :(

I cheesed the fight by going up the stairs, dropping down the rooftop and then doing a charge move as he lands. Repeated a few times till he was dead.

Nope. And that's why you don't want to die haha. You'll stop caring sooner or later. You can always grind for Souls/Echoes.

Been going on the first level for a while, is there any sort of warning that you're about to fight the boss?
I'm up on top of a bridge and just killed a pair of werewolves, and then cleared out a sidepath, haven't tried walking to the far end of the bridge yet.

I kind of just want to reiterate this since I see a lot people struggling on 2nd boss, and I also had a hell of a time beating him. so:

2nd Boss Super Secret Cheaters Strategy:

When you get into the boss room, to your left is a row of grave stones. Immediately dodge as soon as you enter (the boss likes to shoot you nice you and early), then run to this grave stones. If you're fast, you can be on the side closest to the door, and the boss will position himself on the other side. From here, you can do quick attacks or heavy attacks and mostly be safe from any kind of stun locking. Always keep your health at full, because his heavy attack, if it lands, will probably kill you. Don't worry if the boss comes around to your side, just move around to his. Just keep healing and slashing away and you'll be in second phase in no time.

At this point, you need to parry. You can get stun locked reeeeeaalll easy when the boss is in this mode, and the first thing he does is bust up those gravestones. If you have a lot of bullets, I recommend spamming them unless you have gotten the parry time down perfect. One of them will probably hit. You can do one of two things after you hit the boss -- you can try for a second parry, or, if you have a powerful weapon (I didn't, used the cane) you can probably run up and finish him off. I'd recommend the second parry to be safe.

If you have him down to a sliver but things are getting dicey, toss some projectiles at him to finish him off.

Might take a few tries with this strat, but it lets you easily focus on getting your timing down for parry in second phase without any danger of dying in the first phase.

Silly question, but how do you parry? >_>

Best advice I can give is run in, grab the souls, and run out without even trying to fight the wolves.

If you haven't fought the first boss, spend all your souls on molotov cocktails. You'll appreciate them.

I have no clue, I just hacked at the ankles for ten minutes. :P

There is no warning you are about to fight a boss until you die to that boss. Then the fog gates appear for future reference in true Souls fashion.
