I've played and beat many difficult games in my time but I can't can't get past the first thirty minutes of this game and I've tried for hours. Beyond bored with playing the same segment over and over again. Serious buyers remourse, and worse yet it's digital and I can't trade it in.

Haha. This is exactly me. I can't beat the first boss.

There's a shortcut.
Just before the guy that's pounding on the door there's an area behind some boxes that you can drop down into. You can then open the gate that's at the top of the first ladder you climbed at get pretty much straight into the boss fight.

Like, is it in the area with
the huge mob of enemies and the two gun/snipers? Or after that in the area with the fountain and big guy pounding on the door?

The next level of lifelessness!

Is in the area with the fountain and the big guy, to the left of the house at the back corner that you can knock the door

Oh man it's like From is laughing at me and torturing me. It's like they said hey ... Everyone loved that flamelurker fight right? Well here let's build an entire game of flamelurkers!! Hahahahahaha

I have the run to the 2nd ( 3rd ) boss down pat and can get there in like 5 minutes but he is fucking me up each time. Oh man.

Btw what is that eyeball symbol under your echoes?

I began the game as a lone survivor using the cane and blunderbuss as I usually do best with speedy movesets. Instead of going on the bridge with the werewolves I keep going to the sewers where I can't keep the rats from ganging up on me every time. Idk if that's part of my problem or not.

have you gotten to the first boss yet? I started to go down to the sewers but decided to stay up top and explore. got a shortcut open that way...

Just have to read its attacks. It isn't imbossible. I'm using the dex weapon, which now that I think about it may have been a bad weapon to start with, but I still beat him on my fourth try. Just have to be patient.

Happened to me.... It wont come until thursday. I just got off a chat with an amazon rep.

I got a $30 promotional credit though >.> I ain't even mad.

Yo seriously? They only offered me 5$. I just went and grabbed it at Target, installing now. Gonna return the Amazon copy because that is some BS.

I think I've played for like 12 hours today, might be time to take a break.

I kinda forgot how much times just flies when playing a Souls game for the first time.

Should I be upgrading Skill, not Strength, for smaller weapons? Currently using a cleaver and will be using small weapons throughout the game.

Started as a Lone Survivor. Don't want to screw up my build early on.

Look at the scaling for the weapons you like. If the Skill Scaling is C or better, then put points into skill. If it scales well with Strength, then put points into Strength.

I'm a lvl 13 or 14 with the saw weapon at +2. I also have 20 blood vials and 20 bullets. I think I can beat the first boss now.
If I can just manage to hit him in the damn head.

It might sound hyperbolic but this might be my favorite game of all time.

Does anyone know how to summon in the chalice? Don't want to waste insight.

Stick with it man. I sort of hated Dark Souls for a good few hours until I got into the swing of things. First time is always rough! Open up some shortcuts and you'll feel like you're getting somewhere.

In the area with the big guy banging on the door and the fountain, you can drop down onto a walkway in the back left corner and explore from there

Feel like I'm doing something wrong here. I've only gotten the early checkpoint at the top of the ladder, and I've gone a long ways from there, on several different paths, and haven't found another checkpoint yet. I've died three times in like four hours trying to get through these areas, and ultimately had to stop playing, losing every single soul (or whatever you call them).

Should I be going back to spend before reaching another checkpoint, say after
the boss ramming at the door (assuming this is a boss)?
? I'm wondering if I should be heading back after a certain point to get equipment or level (not even sure I can do that yet). Also,
is the second boss that everyone is referring to the guy on the bridge beyond the two huge four legged beasts?
