Where do you guys think souls gameplay goes after this?

For me, I can't go back to the slower paced souls.

You can play similar in DeS/DaS (II). Many players run with very light amor and only two handed, without shield. Once you played the games so long that you know the reach/attacks movements of the enemies, there is no need for shields.

YES! FUCK YOU, CLERIC BEAST!

I did summon help though, no shame. As long as the beast is dead. My insight went from 4 to 7 after the boss though, did I get three from defeating it or what?

Question about summoning. I feel like it takes FOREVER. Is there any way to know someone has rung their bell, or do you just have to guess and ring your summoning bell and hope you get someone?

What I'm asking is, is there something similar to seeing white soapstone signs outside of a boss room?

edit: also, congrats!

Has anyone went down the alley the mob is coming from and broke the boxes to find the giant dude with the axe/scythe? This is in the very beginning. I'm still trying to level up to defeat the first boss. :(

You can farm him for blood gems (if you can deal with the load times). Also a good enemy to learn the gun counter move.

Anyone know how far into the game it is before we get another proper Skill weapon. The cane is great, but I'd love to see another weapon and I'm already past 4 bosses.

What's the item you have from the beginning for?
I'm afraid to use it because from the description it feels like it's gonna reset the game.

It does exactly what the item description says. Sends you back to the Hunter's Dream at the cost of all the blood echoes you have on you.

Sometimes I get blood phials and there's a green symbol next to them. Sometimes not. What's up with that?

They're being sent back to your storage in the Hunter's Dream.

Two boss battle videos I have uploaded on youtube. The first one is for
Cleric Beast
and the second is for the
Priest
. If anyone is having difficulties with these two bosses, take a look, it might help you. killed each of them first try. I have killed two more bosses (
blood starved beast
and
Vicar Amelia
) and I will upload them later.

(Area after second boss spoilers)

Yesterday I picked up
the Hunter's set in the Tomb of Oedon and saw this weird blue portal thing appear in midair behind the fence. A few seconds later I was suddenly ten feet up in the air and saw FRENZY appear on my screen as I lost most of my health. What the hell? That's some lovecraftian shit.

I think this is a glitch, because late game
this will make more sense.

I feel like there's some of the data from later somehow affecting areas early.

Can you seriously not use the
Gatlin Gun on top of the tower?
I get the reasoning behind it (farming) but it's still a bit disappointing.

The bath/fountain outside of the house in Hunter's Dream, on the upper ledge.

Huh, he/she wasn't there last time, maybe I have to go back for him/her to show up.

Green means it's going into your storage if you are at max capacity on your Hunter.

If you have space in your inventory it will not have this symbol.

blood starved beast
is kicking my ass he's so fast and his reach is hard to get down. I tried it co-op and the guy died as soon as he entered the fog lol

Love this game. :D

Cleric Beast, I almost had you!

I can't figure out Visceral Attacks. I know how to Stagger, there's a very distinct sound. I just don't know about R1 timing. I know you don't have to be directly behind them because I've done it exactly once. When the enemy staggers, am I moving forward and attack? Standing still? What?

auto sent to storage

yeah you either gunshot at the right time and they will stagger, or do a charge attack from their back and they will stagger

best thing to do is just keep moving toward them and run into them and then do your attack to do the attack. never miss that way

im sure its been talked about, but the load times dont really bother me in that it gives me time to calm down.

I'd be fine with them if we had lore to read. The game takes me out of the experience with the BLOODBORNE logo, it's totally jarring to me.

The lore is what helped give you background information that helped you give context to some of the adventure, and having no form of explanation at all feels weird to me.

I just want that giant Bloodborne logo gone, it bothers me more than it should. Feels so unfinished

All my time playing MH4U this past month has screwed up my brain a bit. I keep pressing circle or triangle to attack.

I love the new thrown-item shortcut system though. That works just like MH, at least. Pebbles are incredibly useful.

This boss and world design is far and away better than any other Souls game. Just defeated the fifth boss, only summoned help for VA so far.

First boss complete on my second try. I can see it being challenging if you go right to him but if you explore first, find shortcuts, and farm a little, you shouldn't have a problem.

Is the shortcut in the starting area before the first boss
before or after the werewolves on the bridge? Also the gate you guys are talking about is the one to the left right next to the lamp? Cause I did open a gate but it was the one that was next to the big guy banging on the door. Which wasn't that close to the boss I don't think. I think I might stumble into a high rank area looking for this shortcut, lol.

Tell meh your secrets. I just hit that area.

The real Bloodborne framerate starts here.

There's an area where you fight another Hunter (not gatling gun guy), on that area go to the corner where there's some crows. Drop off that ledge and drop from ledge to ledge and you'll see an open door. Go through there and on the second level there's gonna be a body with the weapon. Be careful cause there's a ton of enemies, but you can run past them all

The more I think about it, the more I love this game. My GOD i am sitting here at work and can't stop thinking about it...I just absolutely love the combat.

Any tips on which stats to boost first? I prefer higher defense over higher attack typically. What are you guys doing?

Can someone tell me what pressing up does? Is it some berserker/rage mode where you lose health but deal more damage or something? What does it use up?

And what's the little circle underneath my gun icon?

Yeah, they show up when you're there with 10 insight.

Pressing up sacrifices health for +5 bullets.

Yellow circle = transformed weapon. Empty circle= regular form weapon.

You just stand close in front of them and press R1.

Immediately walk up to the enemy until you're basically touching and hit R1.

Unfortunately, it seems you don't know if anyone's around to help you. Just gotta ring the bell and hope you're not wasting an insight. Definitely a step down from the Souls games summoning system, imo.

e: i think i waited around a minute for the helper to arrive

Wait you already summoned at CB? Where'd you get the bell?

You get the bell in HD when you get your first insight, right? I've been exploring quite a bit, I had 5 insight before defeating CB.

Now I just need 3 more insight so I can start helping other people.

This is a souls game , think it happens only when you stand next to that specific grave. There is a spot later on in the game that it happens again.

It's blood bullets. Very useful stuff. Just use it before an enemy so you can instantly regain the lost health.

It's
after the werewolves down some steps

It's around there:
on that upper ledge where that big dude banging on the door is. Before you go down near that fountain (where some crows are), there is a door with some women laughing. But to the left of that door is a drop down where there are a bunch of dogs in cages. Jump down and then go left instead of right, and it wraps around to a building with a door you must open.
