Is the shortcut in the starting area before the first boss
before or after the werewolves on the bridge? Also the gate you guys are talking about is the one to the left right next to the lamp? Cause I did open a gate but it was the one that was next to the big guy banging on the door. Which wasn't that close to the boss I don't think. I think I might stumble into a high rank area looking for this shortcut, lol.

It's after the werewolves, to the left. Watch out for villagers.

My CE won't arrive until Friday night thanks to amazon's screw up. Meanwhile i have a question:

How does Bloodborne's difficulty stack up against Demon's and Dark Souls?

Post your stats guys, I want to compare.

Here's mine:

Anyone know how far into the game it is before we get another proper Skill weapon. The cane is great, but I'd love to see another weapon and I'm already past 4 bosses.

There's an amazing weapon you can obtain that (eventually) scales to B in STR, SKL, & ARC!

It has some of the most useful movesets I've seen in a Souls game.

It's to the right path of the Cathedral Ward, up the elevator. You'll get to a tower that you can scale up. Radiant Sword Hunter Badge is found in chest at the top.

With this you can buy Ludwig's Holy Blade from the vendor in Hunter's Dream for 20,000.

The beginning is definitely harder. After the second boss the difficulty curve levels off to normal Souls levels.

Playing 3 hours last night and virtually getting no where, I feel like Bloodborne is the abusive husband and im the submissive wife who always comes back for more

Do the weapons do different damage when you use the other form? I doubt the Kirhammer does the same damage as the short sword, or is it just the normal 2h bonus?

Two boss battle videos I have uploaded on youtube. The first one is for
Cleric Beast
and the second is for the
Priest
. If anyone is having difficulties with these two bosses, take a look, it might help you. killed each of them first try. I have killed two more bosses (
blood starved beast
and
Vicar Amelia
) and I will upload them later.

Very nicely done on the first boss there, impressive.

I'm having trouble understanding a few things.

-Right Weapon Attack 1,2
-Weapon Stagger, is that represented somewhere in stats or is it just based on weapon type (eg, kirkhammer has heavy stagger)

Damn I suck

It's so weird getting used to not having a shield. It makes you realise how that was such a big part of the game.

You mean as a basal matter? R1 is light attack and R2 is heavy attack.

It's around there:
on that upper ledge where that big dude banging on the door is. Before you go down near that fountain (where some crows are), there is a door with some women laughing. But to the left of that door is a drop down where there are a bunch of dogs in cages. Jump down and then go left instead of right, and it wraps around to a building with a door you must open.

Ok! I actually saw that area. Thanks!

Bloodborne was just released in Japan [officially] 11 minutes ago, and already NicoNico has 245 streams for it. it's growing as each minute passes.

Insane, and definitely well-deserved.

There's an area where you fight another Hunter (not gatling gun guy), on that area go to the corner where there's some crows. Drop off that ledge and drop from ledge to ledge and you'll see an open door. Go through there and on the second level there's gonna be a body with the weapon. Be careful cause there's a ton of enemies, but you can run past them all
Thanks bloodbro;

I destroyed Father G and it felt amazing

surprised people have trouble with him

You know you're in a Souls thread when you see stuff like this.

"I beat [fill in boss's name here] in my first time. You had trouble? Really? That's weird. Just [fill in obvious way of killing boss, e.g., stabbing him until dead.]"

:)

Just kidding. I'm also surprised when other people don't do things as well as me.

Enjoying this, but the parrying with the gun seems off. It doesnt always work, especially on bosses. I hit them, point blank, when they are winding up for an attack, and it works, and sometimes it doesnt.

Just me?

I can already buy this, it scales to B in all 3? Damn I haven't been building for effiency so I don't have enough strength.

Wait does the whip eventually scale to S (For Simon Belmont) in skill?

I got him on my first try as well, but it was very close. Great battle.

Hell, all of the boss battles have been pretty great so far. Most of them have been following the Flamelurker template of relentlessness and an enrage mode when low on health (further solidifying the epic failure of GameTrailer's top 10 Souls boss list). Love it.

This is a souls game , think it happens only when you stand next to that specific grave. There is a spot later on in the game that it happens again.

huh? Souls game?

If you get to a certain point in the game those areas will make sense.

I still think it's a glitch though.

What transformation are you guys using mostly on your weapon? I have the clever and find myself using the quick saw(folded up) instead of the slower long range clever. I like how it gives you an option on the fly to diversify.

Often, those parrying windows are within a limited set of frames within that attack animation. They're not open to parrying during the full windup.

It looks like a spell is being cast, I nearly got hit by it my first time.

I cant believe how amazing this game is. The bosses are kind of meh so far, but loving the environments

I would invest in it if you can, it takes awhile to get to B, but there are very few weapons in the game that I've found and this is by far the best for a STR or SKL build.

SKL scales even better in this game than STR so I would go with the minimum STR.

You can play similar in DeS/DaS (II). Many players run with very light amor and only two handed, without shield. Once you played the games so long that you know the reach/attacks movements of the enemies, there is no need for shields.

Most definitely, I've never used shields in any Souls game and I've played them from the beginning so this style suits me fine. I do wish there were more options though. I imagine PVP in this one will suffer for it.

almost beat Father G first try completely blind then i got stuck and died to his jump attack, he was so low on health, ugh. beat him second try and got all my blood echoes back. but man, i wanted to have a nice archive of my first try kill against him. heard he's hard for a lot of people. i didn't have much trouble with him for some reason.
