I played demon's and dark souls 1 for 100 of hours and I'm not even close to beating him.

How did you do it?

I locked on to him, kept dodging, and would hit him 1-2 times when I got a opening. I would also try to circle around him a lot since the camera gets in the way

He has a specific pattern that he uses to attack then rest. Also, try to stay close (but not too close).

This game has the same ghost town effect Dark Souls 1 suffered. Online is there, but most bloodstains do not work. Seeing very few player phantoms running around and the coop is slow to connect and many people don't know how to do it.

As far into the game as I am and seeing the complains on the Father fight. You guys are in for a beating if you think that fight is hard. Just stick with it though. Amazing game.

I don't think its hard- like I said I barely take any hits now and get him to transform- then the camera freaks the fuck out and its game over

I'm wondering how and when we unlock weapon purchasing. I already purchased the hunter clothes set that available initially. In terms of progression, I've gotten past the mob around the bonfire area and around the giant door where the big guy is pounding on the other side - and then I cleared out the dudes with the huge dogs. How much further do I have to go and how do I unlock weapon purchasing?

I know the actually character level up only happens after I fight Cleric dude, but I'm not sure how far I am from reaching him as well. Thanks!

Picked up my Nightmare Edition, checked out all the ridiculous trinkets, popped the disc in and started downloading the patch. Estimated download time: 6 hours.

Fuck modern console gaming.

I found some oil flasks and a torch.

Just start playing this every time you light something up :)

I hated to do it, but
Crow Hunter lady
had to go. Now her gear and weapons are in the shop, but are very expensive. She put up a great fight as well. Now, time to grind for echoes.

Cannot beat Father G. Fuck this game

Right there with ya. As a Souls vet, feeling kind of embarrassed. Never had this much trouble, even with Manus or Artorius.

You guys can watch this video of me beating him if you want some ideas for strategy - he's not that difficult if you do it right

http://youtu.be/h3qU1B6QGcQ?a

Parry his first form as much as possible and use molotovs on his second.

If anyone is having trouble with the (Old Yharnam)
machine gun dude, as you go up the ladder he'll probably take a shot or two at you, dodge them and then start wailing on him before he moves. If it goes well, you can push him off the tower to his death.

I don't like needing to sit through two load screens every time I want to respawn some enemies or heal up/restock, I'm just used to bonfires I guess. I ran low on healing items at some point and farming them back up was a pain in the ass. I guess this will become less of an issue once I have a bigger stockpile of healing crap and bullets.

I feel the game design has regressed in a number of area's. The world design, combat and enemies are top notch, but "quality of life" aspects are terrible.

I have a 30 hour DeS save I plan on finishing, then I may jump straight to BB without playing Dark. Any thoughts on this? I do own the first one on PC but have never played it. I intend to get to it eventually, then probably the DS2 remaster on PS4.

What's your setting regional or worldwide?

I haven't encountered a single covenant 20 hours in. Not sure if they exist, maybe someone can confirm.

Hmm i see thanks. My suspicions that this game doesn't really "promote" PvP as much as DS2 seem to be getting stronger.
Not that it's a bad thing (i loved Demon's and Dark 1 and i didn't do much PvP in those games) but i became really addicted to DS2 PvP (especially as a Blue Sentinel) so i was hoping the PvP focus would carry over to Bloodborne.

Man I'm kind of tired of playing I think I'm about level 17 beat the first boss and burned out already of back tracking and killing the same enemies over and over. Not feeling it like I did the Souls games for some reason. I guess I will push though a little more tonight just not sure why its not clicking.

Really weird that they changed up invasions so much to point of not being able to invade anyone. Can only invade those that do co-op or ask for it seems really limited. Wonder why they did that.
People who don't co-op and aren't looking for invasions generally go into offline mode anyways, no?

I'm a little after the first boss. I'm liking it so far. The forced change of playstyle (I like to turtle) is refreshing and I like the transforming weapon stuff. Those load times though. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck them.

Can you believe I beat Father G on my first try?
I'm in shock, especially since I haven't even beaten the Cleric Beast yet...

My heart is beating so fast, and my hands are still shaking... Is this why people love the Souls games?

Why in the world are you grinding so much for that boss?

Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but how do you get your pre-order bonuses for the digital edition? I didn't seem to get an e-mail and there's nothing in game...

Go to the the game in your ps4's library, go to the related content section of the screen and download them.

I'm sure many soul players have experienced this before, but I realized today that Bloodborne was a truly special experience when I went back to Central Yharnam and wrecked havoc on every single thing that gave me trouble beforehand. Level 26 + Kirkhammer+3 = beastmode! It was similar to the feeling you get from a Metroid game after upgrading, but on a much more personal level.

And the layout of the city is just brilliant so far. The way everything connects it just awesome. You name a place and I know exactly how to get there and what I'm going to encounter. It's been a long while since I've been this addicted to a game before.

It's really no different than people who don't co-op and aren't looking for invasions going into offline mode anyways.

Pretty big difference, as before when most people are just online and were acceptable to invasions. Now even if people are online, they are safe from invasions, unless they ask for it/do co-op.

What about those online? In Dark Souls 2, I enjoyed the thought that at any time I could be invaded, gave me extra sense of "watch out"

Unless I'm actually missing something and you can invade anyone online (who aren't trying to do co-op)

FINALLY BEAT
FATHER
G!

FUK YEAAA

Some tips for others struggling:
Use a fast weapon for the first phase (pre-beast form) and try to parry using the gun as often as you can. When he transforms, remove lock-on to use rolls to dodge. Stay close to him and he will jump less. Roll around and attack when he finishes his combo.

I've got all four Souls games on the go on various platforms. They are interchangeable so just player whichever, when you like

I just blunderbusted the shit out of him and right off the edge lol.

How do you go through Nightmare Frontier? I keep getting chain invaded, as soon as I kill one invader, I get invaded by another one straight away. Is this Bloodbornes Belfry Luna?

You're definitely right. The game isn't focused on refined mechanics like DS2 was.

Okay seems like I need a break.
Was staggering and then hitting the big axe guy with ease for vials, now I didn't 10 times to him..

Going into online mode counts as "asking to be invaded" from my point of view. I get what you're trying to say though. You have to actively look for PVP now instead of passively getting one.
