2015 Console Screenshot Thread (PS4, XB1, Wii U) [READ OP!]

Played with a test stream tonight and got distracted by the P1. I've barely used it in championship races (the Hypercar events are some of the last on my list).

Crazy detail and materials!

I would try to add some to the collection but most of mine say "YOU DIED."

lol, that describes most of the streams some friends in town were setting up with it. I've just been staring at in on the shelf, knowing that I have way too much to play, and I keep getting sucked into games I've already played that I'm still loving.

Cleric beast killed me twice, I've died a couple times to doggies, and a couple times to pitchforks.
If you're having trouble with the 1st boss, good luck on the 2nd one!!!

Early Bloodborne.

Definitely not a looker, but it sort of looks better in motion than screenshots.
Still, geometry in general seems like a big step up from dark souls

Really don't agree at all. It's one of the best looking games in this thread by sheer artdirection alone. It's far more interesting to look at than yet another DriveClub or Infamous shot.

Good image quality is vital to letting art shine. I feel like Bloodborne is a lot like Halo 3 in that it can look really nice at times, but the poor image quality dramatically reduces the impact of the visuals.

Nintendo games say otherwise. Many WiiU games are 720p and they have some of the best art styles in the industry. Would they look even better at 1080p? Sure, but I wouldn't say it's vital at all.

The game looks very good. Would be even better if they massively toned down the CA. There are (no joke) points in the game where you can rotate the camera and literally see the blue, green and red lines on edges of doors etc. It's pretty bad. I actually think CA has it's place when used well but it's way, way overdone in Bloodborne.

Plus, something is funky with the FOV and general narrowness of the game. Like the frame rate was struggling so they stretched the screen vertically to show less.

Other than that, it's a very unique and attractive game.

I honestly haven't seen one shot that I've liked yet. The game is lovely for its art style when you're watching videos or whatever, but it does not screenshot well at all.

Agreed. The art direction is beautiful but tech wise, I can't lie, shit's ugly. Poor IQ overall, it should really be 60fps easy.

It runs pretty poorly too. There is still a ton of jank from the frame pacing issues. I can tolerate it but I definitely don't like it. It feels sub 30 almost all the time.

Outside of that the gameplay is fine though.

This makes me so sad as I was planning on picking it up at the end of the month. Might wait and see if it gets patched as I do not even have time to play it at the moment.

I hope the next performance patch fixes it. It doesn't make it a bad game by any means, but as someone a bit sensitive to frame consistency issues (It stopped me from getting into dark souls) it was off putting.

It's not like From is a small studio anymore, so there's no reason they should have missed it. In the mean time it's definitely a step up from dark souls and it is tolerable.

They were talking about IQ, not resolution. Bloodborne's art and assets would be better served by better IQ (which was the case with the original release of Halo 3 as well). That was their whole point. In general, Nintendo games have well handled IQ, relative to the practical hardware options for it.

There are a lot of differing observations. The game runs smoothly on my PS4 and I havent noticed any frame timing or frame rate issues.

Oh yeah, I fully agree that the art direction, along with the enemy design is amazing.
I was just talking about pure graphical features.

Considering it's something that can be measured/observed objectively, it's likely you just aren't sensitive to it. Which is actually awesome from your point of view, lol.

Bloodborne does have a couple of nice things going for it. Good object-based motion blur and some nice quality soft shadows that I've seen in the screens on this page. Also some pretty great textures and cloth physics.

The quality of the texture work and amount of geometric detail actually has fooled me into thinking I'm seeing parallax occlusion mapping at times. Like, I'm not actually sure it's not in the game even after inspecting some cobblestone/rocky areas closely. It's a really nice marriage of art and technical work.

Really if the chromatic aberration was removed I think people would be praising it a bit more for its looks. The only outright ugly thing I've seen in the game, aside from the CA, is the faces on the player character model I think. They just look weirdly manikin-like, but the rest of the character model looks quite good.

EDIT: I should add that better AA would be appreciated as well, but that isn't offending me as much as the CA.

Yeah, I was going to say the skin textures and shaders are absolutely terrible by today's standards. I also think the hair/fur is pretty bad. But, yeah, if the insane CA was removed it would definitely look better.
