Awful lot of Princesses in swimsuits in the OP lol. No judgment, but I find it amusing.
Now we know for sure that although gb's brain doesn't work, his dick does :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Mario is such a goddam square, wearing his lame helmet in front of red pilled anita sarkeesian.
He will stay single forever if he keeps acting like that in front of women...

He should follow cool guy bowser's exemple, the stud is always drowning in pussy

I don't think the screenshots do a great job of communicating how clean the game looks in-person. I genuinely do not need graphics to get better than this. Looking at it just makes me happy.

Look at those beautiful and beloved Nintendo chatacters with their awesome new funny faces and smiles driving in the nothingness

Game looks empty in the trailers or promotional gameplays, no even close when actually playing it. You may have a point for free roam but that's generally known as the weakest point of the game, the races themselves? They're chaotic, full of details and shit happening at once, there's no single moment where you can rest your eyes in the nothingness at all, they're full of cars and other types of enemies, there's a track that even has the SM3DW turtle bosses spinning around trying to get someone, races are full of everything... But for some reason it looked bad, bland, empty, flat, etc, etc. in all gameplays to me before release.

Oh, and there's a detail DF ignored about the free roam mode, it has a birds view fully 3D minimap in the corner, virtually making the environment render twice because it's not just a dumbed down version of it, it's the same map you're traversing.

Rosalina --> Zelda --> Daisy --> Peach --> Eclair

Fight me.
It's great to know NeoGAF acknowledges the superiority of Pauline to the point it would be unfair for the others that she competes at all. Well she's right there with Rosalina.

I haven't really paid attention since I haven't been interested in the Switch 2 so far but yea, this game looks gorgeous. That's the thing, I love games that keep it simple and, yes, prioritize looking "clean". Something satisfying about that.

Nintendo been shitting up all their games with that low contrast washed out look since Breath of the Wild, it's sooooo bad.
I played BOTW on Cemu, using a nice contrast/color profile that made the game look a bit more contrast-y and less washed out (but not too much, just enough to fix the visuals). Combined with the upscaled graphics the game looked much better than the original. I assume there will be something similar for MKW when it gets emulated.

So the haze/fog being there is an opinion?

Like, in your opinion the game does not have haze/fog? Even if it's there for everyone to see?
It's Nintendos artistic choice for the game. As I said the game looks fine and is a generational leap over Mario Kart 8. And I do think many are confusing technical limitations wite a lighting choice here. This game as I also said is very dependant on you getting the correct HDR settings on the console and your display.

And this is before we get into the simple fact that MK8 was simply rendering it's visuals on a track by track basis rather than a fully open world... And MKW still blows it out of the water. So not sure what you are suggesting here?. But to be honest until I got the Switch and set it up and experienced the game first hand I had some slight reservations about the visuals. But after 25 hours in I am totally sold as the game looks amazing.

It's pretty clear what i'm suggesting. The distance haze is all over the game and makes it look washed out. Simple as that.

I don't think that's an artistic choice because there's no way they would choose to make it look as bad. I'm sure it's just a means to hide distant small details and textures for performance reasons. Yes it's open world which means it has to render more things at a time, which means it also has to do some visual sacrifices in order to do so. Thus this looks like an optimization and not an artistic choice.

MK8 looks great because of it's intense colors, nice contrast and dense detail. MKW looks hazy, emptier and more washed out in comparison. All because it had to be open world. How is this not obvious to you, it's not the first time an open world game has to look worse than a linear one, this was always the case in the near past. The console is still not powerful enough to have visual parity or diminishing returns between these two types of games.

When the game gets emulated there will be a way to get rid of the heavy fog/haze and you will see how much better the game will look because of that and how this is not an artistic choice.

Nothing you have said is not very subjective. The colours on this game are much better than MK8 due to HDR simple as that. And the lighting is fine...You do get some distance haze which looks realistic to my eyes. Of course feel free to disagree... no biggie either way.

For sure, there are some frankly shockingly shoddy texture work in this game. Thank God there's a blur-filter in photo mode…

You'd think they'd at least attempt to load in more high-res versions of textures when you're in the photo mode.

It's probably not even a RAM issue, it's more likely higher res ones don't even exist in the game data cause they're trying to pinch pennies on the cart size and trying to make their miserly 200GB internal storage seem large and future proof.

ofc first screenshot is a swim Daisy, Can someone run an AI on this thread so we get a count on how many people we need to call the authorities onto?

Thanks you!
