Wow the true location of the boss D
arkbeast
P
arrl
took me by surprise after playing through most of the game.
Walking back into the prison area after fighting through the summoned creatures and villagers was a huge "a hah" moment. Seemed like a different world when I first saw it and the connection is clear now.

Given what's in that spoiler, does anybody further along have an idea how far I am into this game? Play time is sitting at 18 hours on my profile.

Look at this badass mofo

If the game had a quicker, snappier lock on system id be elated. That aspect of the game feels incredibly cumbersome. DS had a decent, serviceable lock on system.

Alright thanks guys, endurance and vitality it is for the time being. As a last question for now, since the blood echoes requirement will keep going up, when will I roughly stop focusing on vit and end? Somewhere at 30-40 I assume?

I'll think you'll figure your playstyle out before that. Maybe 20 in each. 30 - 40 is when the softcaps start coming on actually.

Is it me or Strength and Skill are basically the same stat. I plan to put more points into physical attack but which one should I choose, GAF? :|

Different weapons will scale with different stats, even if they have the same ranking. I'm using the Saw Spear and it has D ranking in both Strength and Skill, 1 point in Strength gives me 1 attack while 1 in Skill gives me 2 attack + 1 piercing attack.

Welp, I just exited the game after being surprised by the
Witch boss encounter.
The arena it’s in is one of the most delightfully horrifying and foreboding places I’ve seen in a game. The art direction is beyond almost everything I’ve seen in a game to date.

Closest game I can think of with the same kind of care in the art and level design has to be Silent Hill 2 or 3.

No other game provides the satisfaction of reaching a new area or beating a new enemy and the sense of achievement that comes with it. Such a unique experience (along the the Souls games).

Plus, the epicness when the first boss jumps down, just ridiculous. The music is brilliant, the animation in the beast. Again, not many games have these moments.

And yeah, the soundtrack and audio is amazing and deserves more praise.

Glad to be a part of such a special game.

Npc gave me something. Look in inventory. Can't find it. Lol this game. I have no idea what my reward was.

Was it that undead thing in Odeon? Could have swore It gave me something that just said bravery or courage or something like that, no idea what it was

I've had a pretty successful time since getting home from work. Nothing on the way to 2nd boss gave me much of a hard time, and I actually beat him after 4 attempts or so. It really feels good to kill a boss lol. I kind of feel like I am getting the hang of the game.

First session of about 6 hours down, I think I'm about to get to the third boss. So far the mechanical changes are pretty interesting but I didn't care for either of the first two bosses. Levels have been really cool though.

And JESUS the R2 hold attack with the axe is insane. I have a handful of weapons but it's hard to pull me away from that thing.

Where's next lantern after the mob in the beginning, and when you use it will the mob reappear when you return from the Hunter's Dream, like they do after you've visited there via the preceding lantern? I'm starting to get fed up with beating up the rematerializing mob several times in a row, as I've visited the vendor every once in while, and bought most of the Hunter gear already. The mob is not so much a challenge than a nuisance, that's blocking me from proceeding my journey.

The next lantern isn't until you get past the second boss. There are some shortcuts you can get but even that is beyond a lot of stuff(namely the wolves on the bridge).

I see, thanks! Do you know if there's a way to slow down the progression of Frenzy or protect against it effectively?

I’m not sure, but I found that standing still seems to make the meter start going down. I’ve not had the meter fill up completely. It’s cool because it seems like, to counteract it, you need to become calm in-game. If this is correct then hot damn. Very cool mechanic.

Started a new character already because I felt like I had screwed myself already and couldn't get past those stupid dogs on the Cleric Beast bridge.

Started over, conserved more bullets/cocktails, fortified my weapon, opened the shortcut, got to the Cleric Beast, and...killed him the first time.

Surprised to see so many having trouble with him. I used 5 molotov cocktails on him, and then mostly stayed right by his feet and just slashed away. Took him down in maybe 2 or 3 minutes.

First area of second headstone is a lot more fun. Enemies are fast, not in endless waves, and quick to kill or be killed by.

Has anyone encountered the
female raven hunter? I forgot what she gave me as I accidentally attacked her... I specially want to remember the second time I tried to speak with her
Also, holy hell the second boss is difficult! Haven't killed it yet.

I have to take a shower. I beat that giant cleric beast and that felt so rewarding.

Tips for people stuck that GAF and I just picked up:
-Farm health pots while you learn. And bullets. The area from Central lamp (2nd lamp) to that house usually nets you 2-4 health pots + bullets form the guy in the wheel chair.
-When fighting the beast, make sure you're aggressive. I did a lot of rolling under his legs and got right up on him. When your stamina is half way, use it to back up. Also try doing R1-R1-R1 and back up.
-When the beast throws it's hands on the ground, there's one attack where he lifts you up. That one-shot me a couple of times hitting me just right.
-Monitor it's animations. You'll learn when the time is to do one of your most important moves I kept forgetting about: charged R2 attack!!
-Molotov cocktails to his face when he's charging into beast mode. In my video, I didn't get to do it that much but the round before (where I died lol), I hit him just right.
-SIDE STEP!!!!! This saved me too many times. Just gotta hope he doesn't swing wide and catch you. But that attack doesn't hurt as much as his ground pounds. Worth the risk since you can regain your health quickly by just spam attacks.

Here's my video ftw:

Nice work!

Love how the cloth reacts to the force of his attacks!

Does anyone know where the bird lady goes after meeting her initially? I'm trying to track her down because i completely missed the first encounter and im 4 bosses in. I need the damn twinblades yo. Please respond.

hey dudes, how many trophies did you get after beating the cleric beast? I know there's one for beating him but is there one for a rune? Did he drop one and I missed it?

The higher your amount of Insight, the more susceptible you are to it (allegedly). Also, I think armor can change how sensitive you are to it. There's a specific stat about it in your character menu

Ok, someone help me please!

I'm a noob but doing ok so far...but....

I just killed the towns people and the big guy banging on the door. I have 2365 echoes and don't want to lose them. What should I do??

I've had the same experience, but it doesn't seem to work reliably. Could it be connected to your level of Insight? Later on in the game, Frenzy really becomes a pain.

edit:

Thanks again, I had a feeling this might be it.
