Does the black church set helps you with the dude in
Old Yharnam
or not ? Hear mixed messages, and it's not working for me.

I tried it.
I even made sure not to wear the Kirkhammer, but he attacked me anyways. And by attack I mean he immediately rolled off the side to his death.

I think you need to have the set before you even open the door to Old Yharnam.
That's literally all I did before I got the set - I opened the door and turned back. But apparently opening the door must be the trigger, unfortunately.

Fucking father guy kicking my ass in.

try to fight him near the beginning area. That worked for me, there's a bit more room to maneuver there. Also, once he turned into a wolf I just used molotovs. Only took two and a swing of my whip to kill him.

Never used the music box... forgot to equip it.

Disappear to hear this

Definitely do agree that there seems to lack a wealth of content that Souls had. Transformations sound hard to diversify compared to Souls. And while I do not mind no spells or miracles, I am disappointed to hear about wearables. Are there anything equivalent to covenants?

I also like the setting, but think DaS' was much better with the immediate diversity. Enemies also seemed to be more diverse.

But Im at third third boss. Im hoping I see caves and forests, the diveristy of which was more apparent in DaS

Also again, the lack of lore on loadng screens takes away from the presentation for me.
Don't worry about the diversity. You'll soon see...

Losing my mind...

Father G is wrecking me constantly.

I farmed the town up to level 24, Hunter Axe +2 now and bought all the upgraded gear from the bath merchant.

*Spoiler warning*

I also have the music box and use it a couple times during the battle, but he still wrecks me.

Seems like once he gets into Beast Mode, I'm dead.

Should I just keep farming Echoes until I'm like level 30 and just out-level the damn boss? lol

I didn't realize I had to grind... Was wondering why my Hunter was so weak until I found out you had to level up... No I'm level 18 and doing much better... Do the regular enemies in later areas give more blood echoes or the same number?

Any hats cooler than the Top Hat?

To anyone having trouble with Father G, his
beast form
is comically open to parries. As in, just shoot your gun when he's either about to swipe or mid swipe and you should be able to move in. I killed him in two parries.

Also after running around
Old Yahrnam
for a while the balance of this game seems pretty off. The beginning with the villagers was obnoxious even after leveling up a few times but this is super easy. Though it may be because I've started using the short form of the saw cleaver which stun locks everything to death.

Yeah i did the same, went there first without it.

Oh well, killed him anyway.

They give more. Price of vials (maybe other things?) goes up when you level, but I'm not sure how that works exactly

I guess lots of people are having trouble with the second boss. I get summoned super rapidly to help. It's been really fun. Got him down to a science at this point.

Yeah I got summoned pretty quickly the few times I rang the bell earlier tonight. Helped two out of three guys to win - third guy I got stuck on a tombstone and the fight ended badly. Oh well.

Ugh I want to call in sick for work tomorrow. Bloodborne is too addicting!

So I beat BSB (as my 3rd boss) maybe 10 minutes ago--where the hell should I go next? After BSB there's no where to keep moving forward, so I'm assuming I backtrack somewhere. Can someone point me in a direction? <3

Guys, what's your opinion on levelling up and using threaded cane?

I am sure it gets better with skill and fortification, but I dropped it before I beat the first boss. Found the Saw Spear (another skill weapon) and have not looked back. Everyone is different, though. Many are wreaking havoc with it. It all depends on you.

I wish I read this before starting over.

I saw people freaking out about it, but I still wasn't prepared
when I got nabbed by one of the bag monsters. Wandered around, got murdered by Paarl, desperately trying to find an exit. This place is scary. D:

I was like level 17 when I killed him so you don't need more levels (
I didn't know about the music box until after sadly
). I would recommend just using molotovs in the last phase since it sounds like you are making it to that point fine.

buy the 10,000 blood echoes key, and go back to the cathedral lamp

Wow, this hunter fight is honestly the most ridiculous thing I've seen in this game.Mid/Late game spoilers.
Im trying to complete the crow hunters quest line, and the hunter I'm fighting can 1 shot me with his pistol. To top it off, he uses a spell that's kind of like a short teleport, and he's teleported behind me twice and killed me with 1 pistol shot.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but the fact that the kirkhammer is used by the church, and the fact that the transformed walking animation looks like Jesus carrying the crucifix seems neat :P

Wow. V
icar
A
melia
Is really kicking my ass. I don't understand her attack patterns. She constantly hits me when I'm behind her.

I have an issue, I'm at the third boss of the game, and I still have my old ass equipement (a classic cane and some stuff that I could buy at the dream shop), but I see some of you guys having some pretty fancy shit at that point in the game (new coats and weapons I never saw), did I miss a turn somewhere?

Jesus, took a screenshot of a cutscene while entering the chapel district and the cutscene didn't pause (why would it?), so i missed the end. Does anything of note happen except walking in?

Beat the third boss(
blood starved beast
) on my third or fourth try and died right afterwards to poison. a win's a win motherfuckers

It would be really, really, REALLY cool if someone that is well knowledgeable can analyze, compare, contrast, and discuss the Souls IPs. I would enjoy reading that immensely. Curious about the flaws, strengths, strategies, balance, etc.

Thanks! I just found out there was another boss in the area and took him out quite easily compared to the trouble I'm having with the other one.

I'm stuck at this point too he just seems unfair. Got him to half health then he just heals back up.

It's funny because now, I can 1 or 2 shot everything between me and Father G.

I have a feeling the game will breeze by once I beat that punk since I spent the past 3 hours basically farming the town for Echoes to fortify and level up.

I dropped 50K souls in the F
orbidden Woods, because apparently the cannon blast one-shots me. Is there a trick to getting past it? Very afraid of losing my souls.

Mid/Endgame spoilers:

There are at least 3 well hidden
areas in the game that are entirely missable. Almost would have finshed the game without ever seeing them. One is small but very interesting from a story perspective, the second one is medium sized and the third one feels like Painted World Redux. You'll need jumping skills to find the first area, a well hidden key for the second one and an item to gain access to the third area (like the Peculiar Doll in DS1). I found the key and item during my normal playthrough, but never would have found the last area without a buddy telling me about it.

Keep an eye out for those before finishing the game.

when transforming, make sure. You're far enough away so you don't get knocked back. While he's transforming spam molotov on him. You should get two maybe 3 on him that should damn near kill him. You can also coat him in oil before throwing the cocktails and they'll do more damage.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find some of the other starting weapons? I just finished fighting the second boss, and I've been using the cane so far but I'm not sure I want to keep going with it, and unless I have some other weapons to mess around with deciding how to level up might be a bit difficult.

Wandering around the Forbidden Woods, see a path to a cave.. "This looks kinda like a lair." 10 more steps in..Ground texture is pretty much entirely skeletons, sees 33k blood.."Nope.".

Man the third boss is kicking my ass. It seems like his attack phase resets if you hit him after his heavy swings. So damn hard.

Shop in the hunter's dream.
