Holy shit, i just fought an enemy i had not seen before, it killed me and
now i woke up in some dungeon, found a girl crouched to a wall begging me to not hurt her, an on the other path i had my throat slit by those enemies you find in old yorham.

this fucking gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame

Enjoying the game and all but I think if it was a tad less hardcore it'd be a better game. I mean, fuck.
I disagree, the feeling of triumph over adversity is one of the best things about Souls games. Just keep at it, when you finally succeed, you'll be that much happier for it.

I get it, but it reeks of lore style storytelling where a ton of information is placed at the periphery simply for being found when people start peeling those layers. It's window dressing. Obfuscation for the sake of it. Sometimes the direct approach is the more effective one. So now instead of a really effective dark tale that a majority of people can experience with their own endings (depending on your choices), the stories are "uncovered" but end up turning into a series of actions to unlock new lines of dialogue in a very mechanical fashion (especially in regards to minimizing the loading in Bloodborne). There's no emotional investment IMO. It's one thing if I was asking for something that isn't there, but it's clearly there- they just don't put a spotlight on it. Again, some people will really enjoy that but I think there's a better way to handle it. BTW, this isn't some kind of revelation, I know that this is how things work. Just not a fan.

Variety is the spice of life and I actually like experiencing storytelling in a variety of different forms

From Softs approach has a special place in my heart. Plus I have ENB's videos to watch after the fact while he delves into all the shit I might have missed

The details strewn about the souls games fascinate me

Have you met the cleric at the little church where the hidden stairs leading to Old Yarnham are?

I dunno if you have to talk to him first (though you probably have to) but certainly if you have, there's a little easily missed golden light on the hill to the right of the stairs when facing the BSB. If you ring the bell while standing in the light, you can summon the cleric to aid you. He wields the Kirkhammer. Having someone else to distract the beast is a big help early on. Though he was still taken out by the time I got BSB down 50%. From there, it's you and him.

I don't think I have met him. I will look for the little church. Thanks!

Didn't you just farm for them though if you spent a lot of souls on them? I thought that's what farming was lol.

Been helping people beat the boss in Forbidden Woods. Takes a couple of minutes to get around 10k souls from doing it. Faster than running through areas finding enemies that drop them.

Is Ludwig's sword worth it? I've kept the starter neutral blade until the 4th boss, but i don't know if i'd spend 20'000 on a sword... What do you say gaf?

Can someone explain chalice dungeons to me?

I've beaten 5 bosses so far and got the shortcut to the sixth, and I haven't tried making them yet.

1. Are they completely side content, or do you want to do them during the main game?

2. Does it matter which tomb you do the ritual at? Are there differences?

3. Does the level scale with you? Is it based on using different chalices/ingredients?

4. Can you get good items/weapons/armor in them?

try this once again

I think that's especially on purpose here due to the inspiration. The story is that you have to get rid of the beasts, everything else is extra. You have to read like a million Lovecraft books to understand whats going on.

Fuck the Blood-Starved Beasts one hit kill grab attack. How do I anticipate and avoid that?

if you stay kinda close he never seems to do the grab attack. I beat him on my third try and never got grabbed.

of all the bosses in the game, this is the one who parrying is most effective against. I literally parried him every single attack until he was dead. the two times I lost were both when I missed a parry near the end.

Just fought BSB. I was doing great until
the poison starts consistently spewing
and then I died from not being able to heal fast enough.

15k Blood down the drain. ;_;

Go for it. Just use a resonant bell and help on bosses or areas for free echoes without any risk if you ever need more.

Awesome

Its seems like this game encourages you to stay close. Seems to be the case with many enemies as well.... well not all of them lol

OK; tips for defeating boss 4? Up the cathedral, that one? I know of one tip:
using fire paper kills her quickly,
but I'm all out. I find her annoying as fuck.

I've been thinking about it, and I've decided the worst part of Bloodborne is the fact that there are times you aren't playing Bloodborne.

Seriously. This is the most I've been addicted to a game in I don't know how long. To think I wasn't even planning on picking it up until I was really disappointed with Type-0 and decided to move on.

As far as I know, others can feel free to correct me:

1. Yes, they are completely side content. You can beat the game without touching them.
2. I don't think there are differences on most of them. I think there is something special about the first one, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm not 100% sure though.
3. No the level doesn't scale. You get more ingredients inside them to make harder chalice dungeons.
4. You can get cool exclusive armor and weapons in them that you can't find outside.

I'm level 48, I can help in about 1 hour if you'll still be up to then.

I think I'm too high level, sorry :/

False! It is the cane, because it turns into a whip and then the game feels like Castlevania. :)

Good sir, these are fighting words and I hereby challenge you to a gentleman's duel. Your over inflated piece of yarn vs. my badass hunting axe 3000 gifted from umbasa himself. Leave the monocle at home, it will only slow you down.

Here are some specific directions so you don't have to wander for a while to get there, if you want.

From the Old Yarnham lamp, you go up the stairs, back into the church. Go out and take a right around the building. There's a sniper and a melee enemy or two guarding a small stairwell. After you eviscerate them, look along the wall of the building for a small door. Open the door and follow the hallway. It leads to the cleric. He asks to exchange hunter info. Agree to the exchange. I think that's all there is to it. He's a bro (possibly even this game's version of a sun bro given that he's a helpful in combat sort of NPC.)

Killed vicar amelia bedelia on the second try, and I totally suck at this game. Whole body shaking now . Had a way way tougher time with BSB at first. I used a +4 saw cleaver in its unextended version the whole time and it worked brilliantly.

they should disable healing or something in pvp, I haven't tried to use the mist yet but you can just spam vials and the other player can't really punish you. 2fast4pvp

Gun? This is like the first souls game where there's a true way to keep someone from popping a potion.

I'm still rocking the top hat, it just looks too cool specially with the cane.

You're like the fred astaire of death.

I love it, the 1h stance is fast and relatively good dps with very low stamina drain and the 2h has a great move set that covers the whole range. It also has a high stagger chance when used 2h.

When he raises one arm, that's the swipe attack that's easily dodgeable. But when he plants both arms on the ground and looks like he's going to pounce, that's when you dodge forward and to the left (to the right may work too though).

I use it to cheese mobs wih the 2handed R2 charge. It has a nice reach. The Jump + R2 is pretty good too. Been using it with my Saw Cleaver, alterning depending on mobs i'm fighting.
