Dead or Alive 5 Last Round PC Information is Finally out

Also 4 days until release and NOTHING has been showed. Not a screen, not a video

It sounds like the typical PR blackout holding out until the last minute until review backlash.

I was hoping Tecmo would have the consideration to release a good product instead what appears to be just a minimal effort cash-in with a ton of features gutted and network entirely missing at release.

I am hoping Durante can peek around in the games files to see if the PS4 level features are there but disabled just to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

The Digital Foundry analysis should be an interesting spectacle.

Why Publishers believe they can actually have no accountability in the Internet Age in 2015 no less is fucking asinine.

The game does not support Steam Cloud.
The game does not support achievements.
Currently the game only supports offline play.
One save data file for each Steam account.
The game currently does not support keyboard control customization.
Graphics options config in a launcher before start the game so no full controller support.

Everything about the game is really awesome, right?
But but if you don't buy it they'll never port their other games!

This is some BS.

Half of me is saying buy the game it will be fun, While the other half is aaying do you really want to support these kinds of decisions

I stupidly preordered it, because for some reason, I assumed we were past nonsense like this.

Hahahahahahaha amazing, not sure who I hate more. Companies that put out these garbage ports, or people who know the issues yet they pre-order and perpetuate this shit.

Same, but I preordered the game way before the PC-specific information came out. DOA is my favorite 3D fighting series but the way TK has handled the port is horrible.

I wonder if this will be up there in the "worst PC versions of games (in recent years)" list. I have a feeling this will be completely busted.
I don't see it topping Saints Row 2

But it's true though. Why would they make the effort to better themselves if you don't buy it and then bitch loudly at them. From did it with Dark Souls 2. There is no reason why not buying it to show support for the effort AND bitching can't be done.

This is some BS.

I don't disagree. But saying "well I'm not buying it" is going to send the wrong message. Instead of "shit port effort, do better" they'll get "we don't want this, don't bother with it."

I wasn't very interested in it to be begin with and this sounds like a lackluster effort. There are other more interesting fighting games coming to PC anyway.

Ultimately do what you want, it's your money.
I don't mind buying this game, I still think the core is fine even though important features are missing. But I am fully understanding of those who want to retract their orders.

I also think this PC release is going to be a huge catastrophe :P
I'd like to be proven wrong though.

I guarantee you if the game sold adequately, the developers would give zero shits about some comments on the internet. They have your money.

Also, 'show support for the effort'? There's no way at all the developers didn't know every potential PC customers was expecting a product at least on par with the PS4 version, but they opted to keep everyone in the dark about the shitty last gen port hack job they had lined up.

'Fuck off' is exactly the right message.

I knew it would be a shitty port.

From the minute it was rumored, I knew there was smoke where there was fire and it'd be a shitty-ass port.

Also I think it's impossible that they weren't able to test the game with an AMD card. They tested like 5 nvidia card but 0 amd cards. Since the arcade version used an nvidia card, I think that maybe they tried with an AMD one, saw that was a total mess and decided to say they tested only the nvidia's one, so that when amd users will find that the game runs like ass they'll have the excuse saying they were not able to test it.
Maybe I'm exaggerating, but seeing how they're working it's not impossible

I warned people that this would be a bad port. From you hear Online would be delayed. Game was gonna be a shit port and will most likely die on the vine.

If they've already got your money, why would they?
Because they want your money too ;) They won't get a free pass in the media if the port is as bad as it seems right now, they'll sell some games but not enough to cover the costs for a PR disaster and destroyed reputation if they just do a floppy hit and run release on the biggest gaming platform. I still have faith that they'll somehow turn it around in the end.

I have to admit, I'm curious to see how bad the PC port is. I still think this is mainly due to Koei-Tecmo approving the PC version way too late, putting the project on an already thin team and one that has little to no experience working with PC releases. That's never going to produce a good result.

I would hope they take the feedback to heart and either make adjustments in later updates (like the one they have coming for online) or for later projects. However, if you're looking for that you're insane if you're buying the PC version from launch.

I could also see Koei-Tecmo not offering any discounts on DLC, knowing the target market -- they tend to take a measured approach for discounting their other games even during big sales on Steam as it is.

Now is the time for Namco Bandai to swoop in and show these fools how it's done. Tekken 7 needs to be the 3D fighter that becomes the gold standard on Fighting game ports.

This is some BS.

Who cares about PC ports of their other games if they are shit ports anyway?

Buying this game will only tell Tecmo that it is okay to produce shit ports like this. The only option here (if you want your voice to be heard) is to not buy this game and let the dismal sales do the talking. Then Tecmo will come to one of two conclusions:

1. they need to do better ports if they want their PC games to sell

2. they won't bother with PC ports (piles of dreck shit ports) in the future

Looking at it logically, the only consumer friendly choice for us to make here if we want better ports down the line is to not buy this crappy port. And then hope they notice and change their way of thinking.

Personally, I think they just don't care about PC and are only looking to make a few quick and easy cash grabs from early adopters. I doubt the online mode will be satisfactory either, if it even ever comes out.

No buy for me, I'll stick to playing DoA2 on my Dreamcast, or maybe pick it up for $2.50 at a Steam sale years from now.

What

Damn

The funny thing is despite all these missteps I'd still prefer it over paying for online again lol

What in gods name is this FAQ? Change your OS resolution? lol.

This is a no-win situation for the gamers.

We cancel pre-orders, Tecmo spins it on gamers not buying and not adding further games to Steam.
We keep pre-orders, Tecmo takes it as they can release shit and people would buy it.
It's the same thing Arksys is doing with Blazblue. "Hey buy these old BB games without netplay or support and you will get newer games faster :)" then "Oh they didn't sell enough on Steam so they clearly don't want our business."

Wait what was wrong with street fighter IV?

Being a 2D fighter in this case.

I wonder if this will be up there in the "worst PC versions of games (in recent years)" list. I have a feeling this will be completely busted.

Only if the controls are busted. It will be up there with the original PC release of RE4 if that's the case.

So for some reason, the game can no longer be found on Steam using the search engine. The store listing still pops up in google though. I wonder if something is up.

Honestly, this seems like their M.O. in general with DOA5. It's all over the game.

The DLC costumes are more often then not copied assets with their color(s) changed for each character and of the characters they've added, only one has a completely original move set. The online is terrible and always has been and while they were playable, the PS4/XBO versions launched with enough glitches to be annoying to play the game with.

I love the game, but so much of this shit is so obviously phoned-in. I'm not dropping a "lazy devs" comment here because I'm sure they've worked hard because making games is hard. That being said, they also haven't been doing their best. In none of its releases has DOA5 felt like it's as good as it should or could be. The cut corners are very blatant and anyone who's played the game continuously these past few years knows that's the truth.

This is pretty much an accurate description of the worst PC port in history lmao.

One save data file for each steam account? This is real? What the...........
