On the outside of the building in Hunter's Dream, there's another merchant that looks like the one near the doll.
I was surprised when I did my "Cloak flap" emote that it caused the guy's cloak next to me to flutter too.
Agreed!! I couldn't help but do a fist pump after beating Father G!
10 hours and just beat the first boss...
Seems someone should have told him ahead of time that once you know where the boss is, you can usually run straight there fighting nothing if you dodge along the way. 75% of his gripes gone in a single sentence of advice.

Malik is it showing that you are still searching for someone to help you? You are using the Beckoning bell right? I know I tried using the bell earlier and I didn't get anyone from the other end.

You will be remaining in the shame cube for a long time as there are a ton of simple but not so obvious things that people will miss in the game (including myself).

Hold up. I found my 15k echoes, and now I have a total of 23k. Of course, I want to use them, but I backtrack to the last lamp and go to level up at the doll and I can't speak to her. What gives? I'm in Old Yarnham by the way. Just before BSB.

Given the dialogue with the spider and the elaborate way it gets you to him, seems to definitely be something here. Not sure how to trigger it from there.
For what it's worth, I had met this creature before when I climbed down a ladder (he was blocking a door), but his dialogue has changed (presumably since I killed
From Grand Cathedral lamp, go out the door and go to the left. You'll fight one (two?) hunter mobs. Continue on and keep going straight. You'll enter a chamber with a giant spider on the ceiling.
The spider at some point changes from ghostly to a solid spider (like the ones you see on the buildings)
When solid, walk under the spider (to the door opposite where you came in) and wait. It will pick you up, squeeze you (and give you frenzy, so be careful) and then say "Oh Amygdala, have mercy on the poor bastard."
You will then port to Lecture Hall lamp. Directly across hall is room with black spider with man face that talks to you. He says, roughly, "I have to go before long, but we will see each other soon. Much sooner if you take the leap." When you talk to him again, he says "think not of poor Amygdala. You did that bastard a mercy."
