Elden Ring Nightreign |OT| Praise the Rain

I had today three matches where one of the players rage quit. half way through Day 2 boss. Like, wtf dude you just couldn't hang in for five more minutes

Finally beat hard mode Adel with a super dope group as Duchess. The clutch moment was both mates getting downed simultaneously by the big tornado with 2 bars, and yet i managed to swoop in and get Ironeye back up while dodging attacks.

Got a lot of practise dodging all his attacks as a Revenant tank build, so dodging with Duchess was so much easier.

Finally beat it with a few crystal magic shotgun blasts to the underbelly. Those are some pretty sick rewards in the new shop :O

I finally decided to do a relic cleanup and sold 110k murk of them.
I'm going to spend it all in relics repeat the process until I'm broke.
Hopefully I'll get some god tier ones.

Finished Death Stranding so I went back to this game to try out the new boss. Got him on my second try. Doesn't feel much harder than the previous version? He has some extra attacks but that's it? He still went down pretty fast so pretty sure it's also the same health amount? And the stuff you can buy with it is also not really worth playing for so I guess I'm out again ;x Btw, they really need to fix the targeting man. It's a common complaint and how it's still this hard to switch targets is just ridiculous.

New Adel is actually really fair, didnt have to use any of my revives soloing with Wylder. Still absolutely cant stand the FOMO stuff tho, I hope this doesnt end badly.

And there it is:

Close to 120 hours clocked, last trophy needed was Oldest Gaol, insane how RNG dependent it is. Last couple of nights I've just been focused on getting it, went into every run with stonesword key relic, usually picked up another, didn't activate gaols until night 2 level 10+, finally got the Ancient Dragon today, good times. Looking forward to the next Super Saiyan Nightlord though my main focus will now shift to Death Stranding 2, eating real good this year 👌

Congrats! I've somehow got the oldest Gaol twice without even trying :messenger_grinning_sweat: now just missing the trophy to beat a Nightlord with all 8 characters but that'll probably come naturally as I finish the remaining remembrances.

What a freaking delightful surprise Nightreign was!

I've never been as bad at a game as I am at this! 🤦🏼

I've progressively gotten worse, especially in solo but it's now began to happen in multiplayer.

The majority of solo runs I end day 1 on level 1 as I die before upgrading from level 2 and the rain has engulfed the area where my runes are.

Its now happened in multiplayer a couple of times and I am seriously ruining everyone's experience.

I've never had any problems with getting good in fromsoftware games and completed all of them but doing things with haste is my biggest issue.

Its kind of hilarious observing how each run falls apart from inability!

I should start to make video content as it's kind of amazing to see.

2 More trophies and I have the plat, I've not had the crater at all yet and I cannot seem to get a win with Guardian, he is just not my playstyle at all

I finally beat hard mode Gaping Jaw!
2 Ironeyes and 1 Duchess, finally found a 2 randoms that knew what they were doing. Only died once during the fight and it was the first time I tried it with Ironeye, I had only tried with Raider and Recluse.

All this to restore the roundtable lighting...

Haha I feel you. Had an extremely bad night yesterday (pun intended) where I kept playing way too recklessly, along with teammates that seemed inexperienced or equally reckless. One game was the perfect storm of fucking up.

While we're already doing poorly on day 1 we get the "Curse" raid. This leads to dying to regular mobs due to very low HP. Then on the way to clear the curse we stop to fight a minor field boss to catch up (a Revenant) and wipe (again, especially due to low HP). This delays us further and the night starts to close in to the point where we now cannot make it to the demon to clear the curse, and die and loose a level in the attempt. We somehow manage to clear the night 1 boss pretty easily at extremely low levels while cursed, only to then realize that the demon disappears and we now cannot clear the curse at all.

Safe to say we didn't clear night 2 (though I was impressed that stayed til the end!)

On the bright side I did get the plat from beating Augur with Executor. I had somehow gotten in my head that you needed to beat the same Nightlord with all characters, not just beat a Nightlord with all characters. Hoping to get my revenge on the night soon.

Huh, didn't know that. How do you even know which boss you have beaten with which character? The list of bosses doesn't even show which ones you have beaten. Of course they are so painful that you remember for sure once you beat them

Guys you just need to beat ANY Nightlord with each character, that's it, I pointed it out in a previous post, it's actually one of the easiest trophies in the game 👌

You say that but...

Guardian just fucking sucks, 5 games in a row with him in a team and even at level 15 he's just bad, I cannot seem to get a good build with him, his Abilities suck and though the Solaire Skin is cool, once I have this trophy I'm not touching him again, even the easiest boss in Auger-hes usesless in that fight

Aside from that, I've not had the Crater in a while now, since I started the game in fact, is there a way to even get it randomly now? Like a specific boss to grind?

No argument there, he's trash lol. One thing I realized early on is to ditch his starting weapon asap, literally anything is better, sword, whip, bow, anything. The attack animations/speed on halberds just aren't effective, doesn't matter that it's his weapon specialty. Other characters I can clear a run with their starting weapons no problem (upgraded of course).

It's random so your best bet is to beat enhanced Adel which will then allow you to spend the new currency to get specific Shifting Earth events, that's how I got my trophy for Shrouded City.

Yea I may start doing that instead and try and beat him

I ignore the weapon preferences and skills of characters I don't like and play it like a ER melee build.

Multiplayer is so much more difficult than solo lol, the bosses attacks just become too unpredictable. I wish the Red target circle was active the entire fight tbh.

Finally got a good team and ignored Guardians "Strengths" and did it, now one last trophy for the Crater, annoyingly I was about to get this but got one shot by the Magna Wyrm when he was down to 10% hp and the respawn was back at the top as the circle was closing, teammate got it at least

I have a few friends that are putting on the full court press for me to get this (buddies that I play Nioh with) but I have a few questions to you all that have played this extensivly..

Should I complete Elden Ring before this?

What is the "DLC" with the Deluxe Edition?

Is performance at least decent on PS5 Pro?

Have they announced a road map yet?

Thanks in advance!

I didn't play ER dlc, as long as you know ER gameplay mechanics, most of them apply to Nightreign.
The DLC is, apparently, 2 new characters, new garbs (skins) and more bosses, it will release in Q4 2026.

Edit: Q4 2025

Not necessary, but being familiar with base Elden Ring will help you understand what weapons/items do what. It does help since the game is quite fast paced. You'll get familiar with everything regardless though as you play.

I was very impressed with some bits in this video, gives me hope how the elden ring movie could look.

I guess this one too.

I imagine in our future there will be no AI model that can make a full movie from a fully written book and it be acceptable to watch.

I'd watch the 1st video I posted if it were a full movie of some sort, even with the slight mistakes.

You don't really need to complete Elden Ring first. They share some enemies/bosses and while this is technically a continuation of the Elden Ring story, story stuff is relatively sparse outside of the remembrance stuff and even then…

The DLC is supposed to be additional classes, bosses, and new garbs.

Performance on PS5 Pro was great. Some frame drops from time to time but much more stable than OG Elden Ring on PS5.

I haven't seen a roadmap outside of the super variants of the night lords.

Still only barely beat this MF'er once. Very excited for him to tear me a new one. Many new ones.

I previously said he's the hardest boss in the game but since then I've managed to solo him twice (with Ironeye and Wylder). Curious to see what new tricks he busts out 👌

Drill baby drill:

Ok, seeing the reception I'm happy to eat crow and buy the game, any suggestion for where to start? Any introductory videos or something else? Or simply just play and got good? (Played and completed all the souls, I'm a shitty player but enjoy the formula)

There is a high probability you will not like the game your first couple of hours, it's an entirely different beast from traditional Souls. I'd say join some multiplayer games and follow whatever marker is placed by your teammates to understand the general flow of a run. You may feel like everything is moving at a breakneck pace with little room to breathe but guess what, that's Nightreign, you'll get used to it lol.

Then I'd do a solo run with each character to see which one clicks the most. I love almost all of them with Wylder probably being my overall favourite though Ironeye, Raider, Revenant and Duchess are all fantastic too. Nightreign is a process but once you "get it" it's one of the most addictive and consuming experiences you will ever have 👍

Edit: and I'd say avoid any YouTube vids until after you've spent a few hours with it learning the ropes and adjusting to it's unique style of play, *then* look at some character tutorials for example, Fextralife is a great resource with lots of vids.

I need to kill Fulghor with Ironeye for the remembrance, but it's hard to find people for that boss.
I hope hard mode Fulghor also counts, it will be easier to find people to play with tomorrow.

The formula is really different, so the first few matches will feel confusing anyway.

- You are always in a hurry
- Hurry to level up, to upgrade weapons, to collect
- Hurry to escape the shrinking circle
- You can reach anywhere
- Your skill in boss fights is less important

Beginner tips

1. Follow the others and their map tags.

2. Get to L2 fast, it causes a big jump in HP. It's just around 4,000 runes.

3. You need two churches for flasks max, don't overdo the church runs.

4. Do one cave for the +2 smithing stone once you happen to be near one, then when you see a blacksmith buy the lower +1 smithing stone from him for 6500 runes and max your weapon to +2 on the bench next to him.

5. Pick and use all boluses immediately! Their effect lasts the entire game and the effect stacks

6. Collect a total of 6 weapons, because their passives are in effect even when you don't use the weapon. Check out the passives when picking up weapons - HP regeneration, defence boost and adding fire to weapon can be very helpful.

7. The castle with blue shading in the towers is the best place in the game to farm levels, abilities and weapons. Every knight drops 10-20K runes and a weapon / skill selection.

8. Ironeye with its bow is a great beginner class. Arrows are unlimited!

I've been running games with two friends, one of which whom I fully co-op completed Elden Ring with, no mods!

In this game, he just fails to dodge correctly so many times and almost seems to be deliberately wiping us on bosses, when I know it's not intentional.

My theory is that the lack of overlevering and being forced to really be good at different game mechanics, punishes certain players.

There is no overleveling here. Bosses hit friggin hard no matter what. And there is indeed a "Speedrun" element to this game that cannot be overlooked.

It's awesome you (and my friend) are incredibly self aware though.

To add to this, you always start near a group of weak enemies and a grace, kill these first thing and you immediately hit level 2 every time.

then when you see a blacksmith buy the lower +1 smithing stone
There several +1 stones in the cave as well though, I've only ever had to buy one if we didn't go to a cave at all

This fucking game

I swear there is isn't enough time to roll out of those ground flares when the symbol appears, is there a tell that he is about to launch those ?

Yeah I think he does some hand animation, watch his hands. Still always a good thing to not animation lock yourself for too long in that fight.

Just did a match and got disconnected right before the final boss. Just like everyone else on Steam it seems. Thank you Dark Souls.

I am doing something wrong. Tried again and got four insta deaths from those ground flares in the very beginning of the fight. I wonder if it's because I am Ironeye. I guess next time I will just try to run and not shoot and see what happens

Tell him to play Raider and Retaliate as often as possible.
No dodging, no need to overlevel. Just use the red relic from one of the bosses that increases maximum HP and 2 relics with Vigor +3.
I do that when I can't be bothered to "be good" and pick +10/+15% HP from dormant powers.
I once got to the final boss with 2500hp.

Yeah that's wild, we did a triple raider run like that. I didn't tell him about HP increase stuff though.

Game seems unplayable right now on Steam. Constant disconnects. It's still kinda baffling to me that the networking (but also technical performance) in this game is so unreliable and has so many problems, for a game and company that has had so much success for a while now. They must have the resources to fix this kinda of stuff.

The tales are true, the game is so much easier solo! Or the final bosses at least.

Took a little while getting used to (i.e. stopping being so reckless) but once I got the hang of it I solo'd Darkdrift and Libra on first try with Executor.

He's so much fun with the parrying mechanic, though I'm still struggling to properly pull it off while maintaining high damage.

I do think it's more fun as a group though (even with bad randos) so I'll probably do solo for practise only.

Just some random video but look at his hands here:

Thanks. So it does this small fist like this before the flare:

iu

So you need to keep eyes locked and straight in front to see that fist in time, there is no time to escape when the sign appears below you.

They player in the video gets caught a couple
of times by the flare in the end as he is not facing the boss.

I wonder if I should do a holy resistant build somehow. Or if I just keep rolling the RNG to eventually get a run with fewer flares.

Squeaked out a win against purple darkdrift megamonster.

He's tougher, but most of the players interested in fighting him day one are good so that helps a lot.

He's like shooting holy nukes from orbit and swinging a golden double edged light saber.
