Elden Ring Nightreign |OT| Praise the Rain

A fromsoft made mmo could be so fking good. Some fights in this are literally raid style. Seeing them take the multiplayer path as of late, kinda makes me wonder if an mmo is actually something they have in mind.

Game is straight up addicting. Curious if any of the naysayers from before launch have tried it and completely changed their tune?
I didn't get the game because I'm not in MP and I don't like the idea of rushing through levels to find gear, the entire reason I like Elden Ring or other FROM's SP Souls games because I can take my time and explore at my own pace.

First bit of time off work so I thought I'd try and play this for a few days, erm... What's the deal with the targeting? I'm really, really struggling to switch my target lock on! For the life of me I could not target a downed human to revive them, it just kept 180ing the camera to lock on to the dragon we were fighting?

Anyone got any tips? I'm using a controller.

I like those aspects of From games too. In fact I like the lore aspect of all their games the most out of all other aspects. I would suggest getting this game when it goes on sale and giving it a solid try as a from fan!

But the game is not made for solo players like me and I hate roguelike with passion.

One thing I really appreciate about it, that the rogue-like element brings out, is that you really get to experiment with spells and weapon arts in ways the base game never really allowed you to.

I've had a lightning bolt build, hoarfrost stomp + dual wield colossal weapons, greatshield tank builds etc. that I would've never played around with in the base game.

Not only is fighting bosses and enemies with these builds fun in-and-off-themselves, but you really get to try out weird combinations of stuff, as if it were a professionally crafted mod.

I get it may not be for your, and that is totally cool, but there are elements I think almost anyone could appreciate.

The game is great for people who enjoy co-op but for me I played all FROM games solo and offline, I have zero interest playing with other people.

Cool story, you can play this solo *and* offline. As someone who prefers the solo experience myself I will say Nightreign is a lot more fun with a team but that's subjective and solo play has it's charms.

I heard this is not design around solo play even some bosses have mechanics that are require another player to help you out.

I'm not saying this game is bad or anything but this clearly MP focus game which not my thing.

Unless they nerf solo further, I wouldn't buy this for solo play unless you are a very good Soulsbournering player.

Like, I wonder what % of players who played Elden Ring could complete this game (beat every Nightlord) with no teammates. I'd guess around the top 15% or so.

Finally got Champion's Path yesterday!
I don't want to fight Augur again so soon.
I'm only missing the Crater trophy for the platinum.
I need to waste time forcing the event to show up... 😕

In 80h I never encountered a Walking Mausoleum or an Old Sorcerer's Rise.
Some things in this game are ultra rare.

ok this is 2 different kinds of bullshit:

Just would not leave me alone in particular, the pure rage some of these bosses have

And wtf even happened here?

Tbh, seems like you're getting hit by almost every attack :p

And yeah that seems to be a bug, had it happen to me multiple times too.

Libra is breaking my balls. is ther a different strat than saving ult till he charges up the buff to break it? Except ironeye shooting at the symbols. Nobody I play with seems to know how this works

You can save the ult for at least the second one, because the first one is easy to break. Mostly it's just not being greedy and watch him telegraph his attacks. The symbols appearing below you that can oneshot you are pretty well telegraphed if you watch his hands. Just don't be animation locked for long/greedy, because that will fuck you up.

I literally could not even dodge fast enough, like give me a small breather ffs lol the timing was going out of the window there

But as I was saying, there are times where it seems recluse and Ironeye seem to just get bullied and get all the aggro for extended periods to the point it feels unfair

I literally could not even dodge fast enough

For the sand shockwave specifically always dodge INTO it, never AWAY from it, will hit you every time unless you have a good distance between you. Otherwise just know this boss is a real pain, hardest in the game in my opinion and a squishy class like Recluse is at a disadvantage here, good luck 👍

wait so you can also break it by attacking him while he charges, rather than attacking all the symbols, some of which are in the air so you need ironeye for? I tried that just to get nuked by ground AOE around him

No, I meant that you can easily break the first meditation by running through the symbols because it's only 3 symbols. Then save one of the ults that can break it for the second (or third) meditation, because those are harder to interrupt. But you can still kill him without interrupting the meditation. It's just watching him telegraph his different attacks and don't be greedy during that phase. Don't be animation locked for too long/spam attacks and watch his hands.

Managed to beat the first nightlord with randoms on my third run. Still not entirely sure what I'm doing but it has been fun. Forgot how punishing from games can be though!

Thats a good one, will keep in mind.

In other news, I'm having a super hard time matchmaking for rememberances, no idea how queuing works but its taking way too long. Happy to team up team blue if anyone got the same issue

Just had my first go at the final boss. Holy shit, what a fight. The music and visuals are just incredible. It may be a lot of skybox and effects artistry at play, but FromSoftware have really nailed the art of making cool as hell bossfights, where the music, environment and boss design become more than the sum of their parts.

Didn't beat the bastard but can't wait to try again.

I think I might be blown away by the music more than anything else in this game, I really really hope they do a vinyl soundtrack. I absolutely love the variety in the boss themes and it'd go so nicely with my Shadow of the Erdtree set.

Game is still addicting, playing a few rounds every day. Killed 4 nightlords in a row with randoms. I hope the hard mode comes next week

One of the many reasons I love this game lol. Playing with randoms, no mics obviously. I set the marker to under the castle, we all rush there, arrive and see Bell Bearing Hunter, we all instinctively nope the fuck out 😂😂😂

And this was the *perfect* photo finish, extra special because I was going for the "defeat 3 different Nightlords in a row" trophy and this was the last one (did Dragon/Auger before it), phew!

Hahaha that shit's too funny. Happened to me today for the first time as well. I 100% concur, Bell Bearing Hunter early has fucked so many runs up

For people with friends it is more fun. My brother plays the hell out of it despite dropping Elden Ring. To play it solo would definitely suck.
It's not that bad solo. Enemies in groups tend to target you one on one instead of ganking on you and you get more runes so you can level up decently.

5th kill in a row. Libra fight was good with 2 ironeye and a raider. Once you know his attack pattern its pretty easy. Just dont get greedy with attacks, but that goes to every from boss i guess :)

3 trophies left to plat, all RNG dependent, Shrouded City secret which will also give all Shifting Earth secrets trophy, Oldest Gaol trophy. Over 80 hours clocked now, there are still a whole bunch of weapons I've never seen in a run. One weapon I had yesterday had an affix where magma would appear under me before exploding, first time I've seen that one, cool stuff.

aaand got my 6th lol. Also completed the quest for ironeye. Thank god i saw the other option at the last boss before i pressed the button. Interesting, because i didnt have any quest for him, but triggered his ending anyway. 3 quest done, im on the last step for wylder aswell. Hopefully that hard mode comes this week :P

I'm only missing the Crater trophy 😔
Gonna spend all afternoon forcing the event. Tried for 30 min yesterday but all I got was City and Forest.
From what I read, the oldest Gaol needs all party members to be lvl 10 minimum to spawn the Ancient Dragon.

Is it viable in solo with the current patch / balancement?
Expect to die a lot until you learn how to play a character and get good relics from the random relic item from the Small Jar Shop, from beating bosses or Nightlords and Remembrance quest rewards per character.

In typical roguelite fashion.

Damn lost my 6 killstreak, but we basically 2 manned the whole run because our 3rd disconnected 1 minutes in. Still managed to complete the 2 days and bring libra down to 50% with a random guardian

Got the platinum!
Managed to make the Crater spawn and thought since I was already in the game to give it a try solo and it wasn't hard at all (with the Raider).

Nope its random, I got it at like level 6 on Day 1 which helped as its half health

I did see that you can get it with one of the Relics that give a Key at the start and going to a quick one over and over

If you guys want to participate in a survey regarding the game, here is the link : https://survey.bandainamcoent.co.jp/jfe/form/SV_ezFcLevNV9hPkSa

It takes less than 5 minutes. I voiced my opinion about the game needing more variety if the game wants to survive long term. More bosses, characters, events, terrain changes (shifting earth), weapons, etc. Also lack of crossplay/chat.
Did my part. There is some interesting bits in the "what you didnt like" part. Hopefully thats some indication for future updates.

Killed 3 day 3 bosses over a week ago and I must have played close to 20 games and not able to find 2 random that are able to carry my weak ass ability over the line.

Feels bad!

The last game was going so well and we all died in the rain on the way to the tree little circle therefore ends in defeat.

Feels bad!

You can do it! I think I've got a success rate of about 33% with about 40 expeditions under my belt. But I've gotten much much better, currently on a 3-win streak (my best being 4).

Beat the final boss yesterday, was my second attempt. Both times I got Blade of Calling for Duchess which does incredible damage to him. We finished him off with a combination of an Ironeye weak point + Blade of Gold weapon art for +3K damage, amazing fight.

Will be going through more remembrances now (seems like there may be variations in the ending cutscene) and just started playing Recluse. She's definitely able to do incredible damage, but it makes me so greedy and reckless that I really need good teammates to keep us alive lol.

Every day 3 boss fight is me losing 90 percent of my fladks and health trying to revive someone.

It takes far too long to revive people that I'm now thinking it's just not worth it. If you die when playing with me you die!

3 purple bars for reviving needs fixing in my opinion.

To be honest, I think that's the explicit purpose of the 3 bars. You're not really supposed to be able to keep getting your teammates back up without massive risk / investment / teamwork. Though it could be a good difficulty modifier, limiting it to 2 bars instead. In accordance with your sentiment on dying, If both your buddies are down with 3 bars I'd say just focus on the boss.

Saving ults for reviving can be super clutch though! Revenant insta-revives in quite a large area, I'm pretty sure Guardian can also revive a full 3 bars with his ult. Not sure how much Wylders does.

Not sure I'm good enough to carry anyone but I might have time for some team-ups over the weekend (on PSN, Northern Europe). At the very least, I think I can carry myself.

I'd be interested to know exactly how much a charged Wylder ultimate knocks off a full 3 bar downed person as I don't believe it's the full 3 bars. It probably should be really or at least 2 full bars.

I'm on steam, I'm not as bad as I say but I'm definitely good enough to carry people that keep getting downed.

I do struggle with how fast everyone is on this game, the last game I played I arrived just as the other 2 players had killed the big enemy of the icon, literally every time.

Got the last 2 bosses to go now, been doing a few runs a day and gaining a lot, does Murk get easier to get though? I've managed to get 1 Skin so far for Recluse and I can only afford 1 more Dawn skin, the FromSoft ones are far more expensive as well as I've seen
