I was watching the launch trailer and:

What is this skill and how do you get it

I actually have that but need a bunch of arcane points to use it. :|

It's kinda hard to explain the exact location,
from the cathedral there's an elevator you can go up that leads to an area with a ton of various gun using enemies. Instead of heading inside and upwards, fall down where part of it is destroyed and you come to this dark area with a lot of drops. There's a certain drop you take that drops you at a door, you'll take a chunk of damage but need to do it that way. It's in there.

What weapon are yoy using as a matter of interest?

The Saw Cleaver. It doesn't really matter though.
When you zone in, clear the tiny spiders, then get on the sides/back of Rom and mash away. Do as much dmg as you can, keep hitting while she is teleporting as it will get you some free hits. After the TP, pick a side, clear some spiders as you move in, and just watch out for the AE/Spikes, don't go too far from the spider or she will launch the meteor crap and that's the hardest to dodge. Also use bolt paper if you have any to do more dmg to Rom ( don't waste hits with it on tiny spiders

Rom the vacuous spider
can eat a bag of dicks.

This boss is awful and I've run out of blood vials for the first time in the game. Holy shit I wish they recharged kike estus charges. Now I see why some people hate the system.

Some tips

-Completely ignore the spiders. If you time it right, you can get 2-3 hits in before they even react. Wait for even a small gap between the larvae and its goons then go for it.
-When Rom uses its raining icicles attack, sprint as fast as you can in any direction. Works every time.
-As its health gets lower it gets defensive. When it swings its tail/torso upward GET BACK. Also when you start hitting it, it'll start swinging its body at you so roll away after around 2 hits and repeat.

on the third boss..need some tips

blood-starved beast seems really easy other his grab attack, where he poisons and basically one-hit KOs me if I don't dodge it. Anything I can do here?

yeah ive been doing this and getting close but then getting one shotted. Oh well gotta keep slugging

Uhh, I would assume I did? I don't know where
Byrgenwerth even is. The door is on that path to the right of the Vicar boss.

Hrmm
Try again when you reach that area? Cause the thing that lifted me up and exploded did something different when I went there and that's how far I was. I reached the area but didn't fight the boss.

From the Father Gascoigne lamp go back to the sewers and keep going back towards the entrance until you find a giant ladder. She's in the window right beside the lever that opens a shortcut back to fountain area with the dogs, crows, and the first brick giant.

there is a npc who is going to get killed a lot.

and FUCK, after talking to him and getting a rune I put down the controller to go take a drink and my chara fucking attacked him.

oh well. does anyone know if he was important or if he was going to give me more items? Late game npc,
spider with a human (?) head, lol.

Always dodge to your left. If it does a swipe with its right claw (usually the first attack it does), you can parry it with your gun, then go in for a visceral attack. It has a standing attack that you can parry, but I found the timing to be tricky. It's also vulnerable to fire

I think the tiny spiders one hit ko if they jump and land on you. So watch out for that as you whack away at Rom. Ideally, she should be close to 50-60% after the first TP. But i guess that depends on your level, weapon upgrades, item usage etc

Just tried to help a guy with BSB - there must have been lag in his connection because I couldn't get any sort of parry down. He'd wind up for an attack and I'd shoot, and then he'd teleport to the other side and be done with his attack. It was really weird.

So, taking my first break after about 4 1/2-5 hours.

About to pull BSB for the first time. Have died only about 4-5 times, 2 times on bosses.

Every area of this game has been impeccably designed. Can't wait to progress further after some dinner.

Took several hours, but the game has definitely clicked with me (it's my first souls game). I went from dying repeatedly at the mob around the fire and being terrified of the brick ogres to now farming blood echoes from some Ogres via remote play while watching basketball to do some leveling.

I know I'll get my ass handed to me a ton more as I'm stil super early having just beaten the first boss and a little exploring afterwards before the farming. But I don't mind some grinding to level up and upgrade gear to lessen the pain.

I bought the repeating pistol and think I like it more than the blunderbuss as well. Had to dump a point into skill and blood tinge to use it though.

-Use Fire Paper if you have it
-Always have antidotes at the ready, even right after a grab or attack which knocks you down, you can still use one and survive being offed by the poison
-I found dodging to the side to be really effective. Wait until it immediately finished a swiping combo and get a few hits in.
-Don't get greedy! It's very fast to react.

So far, 12 bosses in. I found that one to be the easiest of them all. I died way more on F.G than that one, think i died 2times there.

No other boss in the game killed me more than twice. In fact, I did them all on my first or second go.

I just hate this guy because his ranged attack is almost impossible to dodge consistently. And apparently I've got no more health vials. And he has about two different attacks that might one-shot you. And the new summoning/co-op system isn't very good.

It's the first time I've had to stop and realise that this game has some major shortcomings that DkS already addressed. The Estus charges and soapstones were much better systems. This opaque matchmaking is just annoying. You stand there and hope someone joins. No markings show up, no idea of whether or not it's worth your time to do so.

Find the bell witch if doing co-op. Find her and kill her. Will make trekking through the place much easier. Helped a guy out earlier and someone invaded us. Our third guy died and the invader just kept dragging us towards enemies. It took us 20 minutes of fighting him and enemies to finally kill the invador though luck was on our side since he had no where to run. Guy ended up stuck. It is easy to find the witch in Cathedral Ward area compared to the one in Old Yharnam. Still don't know her location.

YUP. I killed him too. Before I even talked to him and he gave a rune!? FUUUUUCK.

Seriously though, how can ANYONE see that thing and think its an NPC? Ffs.

The new health system is also shitty when you want to help people since you're still using your set vials so if you do it a lot you'll need to farm some again.

Really not a fan.

Password set, gonna take 10 min to farm vials. I'll post here again when done.
you can also summon Alfred (npc) for that fight, talk to him, agree and then check his message, it's near the stairs.
haven't done it before so I'm not sure but I think that you get the option to summon him and use the bell only after you read his note on the ground.

Oh I've been there. But was killed and haven't been there again.
Guess I'll go.

How many arcane points does it need?

You have to manage your positionnement well. Don't go too far, or you'll get nuked, just go in, get some hits while on the lookout for tiny spiders/AE attack incoming, and roll back.

Also i agree on the vial system. I had some points where i had no vialsl left, and had to go farm for them/farm souls to buy them. Was kinda tedious, especially early on.

Have you not played Souls games before? This is a staple.

Yep, and too bad you don't have the same ways to avoid getting swarmed in this game as you do in any of the previous games. That spot is where I made it too before deciding to take a break thanks to how much of a slog it was to even get into that room in the first place.

Anyone know why the beckoning bell is grayed out for me and a friend? We're both in the same area with the same password. It's also gray/unusable with no password. Didn't have this issue yesterday.

Seen a lot of rumors of this and tested to test myself.

With 14 and 27 insight there was a noticeable difference in the two monsters i tested in Cathedral Ward.

Video below shows the difference.

Lantern guy gained eyeballs on his lantern and he now casts a ranged Spell.

Sycthe guy gains an enchantment on his Scythe that burns you.

Seriously, Healing Church Workshop question
is there anything of value down at the bottom? The soul sucking enemy destroyed me...
