End Game Q

In the Nightmare of Mensis how do you get on top of the bridge with the gigantic eye beast?
I see one of those singing monsters that send u into a frenzy walking around on it but I can't get there.

Also is there a way to exterminate the eye beast?

There is a way to kill the giant eye beast. Go to the lower castle lamp and take the cage elevator up, then take the next cage elevator up. If you pay attention, you'll notice the door of the second cage going up doesn't actually close. There will be a small doorway partway up the you can hop out of the cage to get into. That takes you where you need to go.

It seems like the only builds are strength, skill, or specific element(and the point at which you can get there takes a long ass time). But I'm nowhere close to finished and I don't know any spoilers.

I dunno man

Bloodtinge builds seem very interesting to me at the moment

And also Arcane could prove very interesting as well

People need to do the research and upgrades and figure this out. I think a lot of people are still in the comfort zones this game creates with the starting weapons but there is certainly more meat on the bone in my mind

Wanna see how far I can push the a Maxed out Repeater Pistol

1) Yes putting points into Skill after 25 in Strength gives you a good damage increase. Worth it to put points in Skill. If you have an elemental gem in your weapon then you get good bonuses from Arcane too. Would not be surprised to see 25/25/25 with an element build for Ludwigs as it scales well with all 3 stats.

2) Nah it's just colorful language.

I was going for a hardcap now. 50 in each, but this is interesting. I wonder what's better: Working on a hardcap in strength or going straight to skill. I've increased my Strength to about
27
or so. A lot of my points have been going to Vitality and Endurance. I'd think your hardcap stats should be saved for NG+.

I'd also say patience is a virtue one or two hits is a better than three hits and the boss nailing you for half your life bar.

This is the whole game, really, and the whole franchise for that matter.

"Take no damage, ever" is basically my whole approach; if something takes a long ass time to kill, so be it.

People keep mentioned how there's so much more "action" here; I'm taking it even slower than I did past games.

2. From what I understand, there is something called
Arcane Haze Extractor that let's you get arcane haze from ritual materials.
Any ideas on where to get this?

I found it in a depth 2 Pthumerian root chalice dungeon from one of the large black and gold chests.

Warp to the Central Yharnam lantern. Go through the shortcut gate and into the house. Kill the wheelchair guy for 4 bullets. Go to the outside area by the elevator and kill the two brick carrying guys. They can drop 2 vials each. Take the elevator and cross the bridge towards Father G's fog door, kill all the enemies there and watch for the flaming boulder. Continue up the stairs and kill the two enemies facing the corner: use a pebble to aggro one of them and kill it, then backstab the other. Run back towards the bridge and suicide by jumping off. You will spawn back at the Central Yharnam lantern. Rinse and repeat. If you kill everything on the next run, you will regain the lost echoes from your suicide. In maybe 20 minutes I maxed out my carry load of 20 vials and 20 bullets, and had about 50 of each in storage.

When doing this run, if you go dow the ladder into the sewer instead of across the bridge, you can run past the pig and go up a ladder. When you get to the top the big guy lights the Boulder and often take a huge hit of damage from it so is easy to kill. Also means you don't need to bother with the guys on the bridge - they'll usually all be killed by the Boulder, you'll get their blood, and then you can mop up any drops from them.

Yeah, I am dreaming that I can have a pistol or shotgun build. :) gonna play through with a skill build before I experiment though.

Doesn't raise damage for normal attacks, you'll notice if you upgrade the sword your scaling may raise but damage doesn't. If it affected overall damage you'd see that number raise. Not sure on L2, I always forget it actually does something. There are gems that can give you an element, I found an arcane one and it turned all of the Kirkhammers damage to arcane. Which is odd. lol

Also that was the only rune I've found that does such a thing in about 20 hours. o_O

So for the LHB it would probably best to find an arcane gem that can fit one of its slots, then you'd get the scaling benefit on normal attacks.

Ah, okay, thanks. I haven't actually pump my arcane stat, now at 8. Thought I would focus on strength and skill, the usual, until I learnt that Holy Blade has another stat to scale it up for even more damage.

Oh wait, the gem turns all damage into arcane huh. I guess I'll reconsider the plan to pursuing arcane path then.

To be beckoned to another hunters world, I understand that the summoning hunter must not have fought the boss yet but must the potentially summoned hunter must have not killed the boss yet as well? I'm trying to co-op with a friend and it's proving to be impossible. We've set the same password and parameters for online, so I'm a little confused as to why it's not working and what I previously mentioned seems to be the only thing that could be causing this hangup. Please help!

He plays super fast and efficient though, and his "exploration" was rushed. He never stopped to look at something, he was always on the go.

I would definitely not view his completion time as a marker of the true average BB game length.

Eh, you don't really need to disparage other people's play styles. I really took things in, and did several of the optional areas, and was only slightly slower than Yoshi at 24 hours. It really, really helps that the bosses are generally the easiest in the series. Stack HP, go in with full blood vials, and circle-strafe ftw. Over half went down on the first attempt, and all but two others on attempt #2.

There's a lot of additional content, and the Chalice Dungeons have, like, 30 new bosses or something, including some "mega" bosses, and a bunch of great sidequests and side areas and features to add replay-ability. It's a fantastic game, totally worth a second playthrough, but that doesn't mean that people that get through the game quick are somehow doing it wrong.

I know its been asked s couple times before, but does anybody know how many bosses that are in the game? (no't counting dungons)

So is there any reason to keep the Gold Pendant? I know that
if you use it, you get a blood gem
but I just want to know if there's an NPC that needs it.

For what it's worth, I have hundreds of hours in the three previous Souls games and I'm only 3 bosses into this at 20+ hours. But everyone's definition of "taking time" is different, and as you said, quality over quantity.

Yup. I also can't wait to discover how interconnected the world is. I have a bit of an obsession with game worlds like that hehe.

You don't want me on PSN btw :(?

Didn't I already add you? I get like a billion friend requests a day so sometimes they blend together and it's hard to filter which ones are people I actually know or not. I thought I added a Yoshi. What's your PSN name again?

Your going to love it bro

I know. I know. I'm still shifting on the character creation screen. Everyone who knows me knows how I play games. I spent over 50 hours playing Bioshock Infinite just to admire the art direction. I'll probably end up with like 170 hours in a game like Bloodborne. I can't wait.

Don't worry. Just another regular enemy. That are
pretty easy to take down.

I'm not so sure. I wasted 10 bullets trying to time his attack for a parry and all it did was get me slapped silly. I mean I killed him my 2nd time around, but still I didn't learn anything :/

It's a shame this will never come to PC...

...I want all the villagers to be modded to say the Resident Evil 4 mumblings and screams.

Beat boss 3. She was pretty tough mainly due to her
pray recharge trick
. Still using the Hunters saw blade thing. Should I be finding/using other weapons yet?

Are any of the chalice bosses immune to parry, fighting my frst one
Undead Giant
and he appears to be. R2 charge seems to sometimes stagger other times not. Really hard to find openings as well, crazy range and tracking.

Edit: Hrmmm
Looks like there may be a weak point on his leg, but that seems to go away after it's exploited once.

He destroyed me multiple times in 2 hits, before getting good enough to stay alive a bit.

Attack
the big boil on his left leg. It will explode and he'll take a huge amount of damage.

After that, boxing tactics. Get in, get off some hits, get out. Respect
his range
and that
he can attack on all sides
and you should pull through.

:D Np! YoshichanGAF

WTF...I have been stuck in the first area for 4 hours maybe more. The guy from ign said it took 12 hours for him to beat the first boss.

Yoshi isn't really human.

He is an incubated experiment from post cold war Germany in which scientists wanted to focus on test subjects that were subjected to thousands of hours of gaming instead of playing or socializing with other children.

He is a God-Damn monster.

I'm near the end and still mostly use the starter saw cleaver, with some holy blade on the side.

Yeah, and 25 Arcane lets you use magical items.
But I am not sure if those magic items even increase the damage that much if you pushed for full physical damage in the STR scaling.

BB would benefit a lot with a stats reset item like DS2.

So basically, take Yoshi's playtime and multiply by 2?

Guys, calm down. Please. Plenty of people have already beaten the game on GAF :)

I took my sweet as time. If you watched the stream, you know how many times I just stood still and complemented the environments.

Yoshichan's skill level in gaming is not to be doubted. The dude is like a zillion times better than me at Dark Souls. I would fear ever encountering his phantom in my game. Would probably piss myself. He'd be like a NG+++++++++++++ boss where you only get one soul per every ten kills or some shit.

Just looking at the weapon list, none of the weapons scale faster than C?

They all scale occurring to your upgraded weapon stats, so those are misleading. For example, Ludwig's Holy Blade is setting at "D" for strength, but the more you put into your attribute the higher it gets raised. I'm sitting at a "B" for that weapon. Zoned out on that for a second... weapon stats that get upgraded, not your own.

Slightly inaccurate. The letter scaling changes based on how upgraded the weapon is, not your own stats.

The scaling increases when you upgrade the weapon, I don't think it has anything to do with your stats
