So, Garo ending was great, but it leaves me wondering what they'll be doing for the second season we know is coming. I feel like all the characters completed their development, so I'm hoping we get a second generation type of thing where we jump forward to their kids or something like that.

So it would seem. A fair amount of this can be attributed to how successful the individual show threads for JoJo's, Shriobako, Death Parade, Toky Ghoul, Gundam Build Fighters Try etc have been in driving traffic away from the main thread and into specialised threads.

Death Parade Ep 12 END:
That was a really nice ending...but somehow I still feel a bit unsatisfied. Probably because the arbiter storyline was not fully resolved, we are only seeing the 2 of the arbiters who change. But I guess that's the most we can get for a 12-episode series. I'd watch a season 2 of this if it can get one despite the shit sales.
And probably also because the penultimate episode was so amazeballs that this ep kinda pale in comparison.

A great finale to a great show overall. I really hope it gets a second season because I am going to miss this show a lot, and I feel like it would be a bit incomplete without the 5 girls getting to finish the anime of their dreams!
And it is the mad dash to deliver the tape, a sequence that was more awesome than it had any right to be, helped by Okitsu's awesome driving skills. In the end Miyamori seals the deal with what she wants to do in the future, makes a grand speech in front of the staff, and looks forward to the project they started in high school. The show goes full circle as the girls that started out in high school do the doughnut pledge. They have come so far!

Whilst I agree that the anime mishandled the floating plot points rather badly (and stated as much in my original post) I don't necessarily agree with what you are trying to imply at the end. Tokyo Ghoul first episode is about a bookworm who turns into a ghoul and has to deal with that. At the end its about constantly struggling and asking who is at fault for the world that they live and whether there is any situation, first attempting to live peacefully in a false coexistence, and then upon seeing the futility of that, trying to find a solution via the acquisition of power. However in the end, upon failing to save the only place which took him in, and seeing the death of his best friend, he realises he has completely failed to protect anything he treasured and walks towards suicide. Was the presentation and delivery at an acceptable level? No. But the themes are there and the bravery to say, no, this character will not have a magical shield protecting them from harm because they are nice people. To say to the characters: I know you are afraid of death, but it is still coming for you is something that can still be lauded.
The problem was that it was a typical anime ending. The good guys won, the bad guys lost. The main character got the girl. The world was saved, all the bad guys were completely defeated so there is no chance of them coming back, there are no unresolved tensions or issues to deal with. It's a fairy tale, a "they lived happily ever after", and a complete disregard of the beginning of the show/manga which is very much about coming to terms with loss. After years of war, everyone goes home happy as friends. And you ask me what is wrong with it?

I just can't help but feel a little bit guilty when I see you rant about Saber and F/SN in general.
I feel like I've given you more mental scars when I tried to get rid of them.

You sir, are in for quite a treat.
Just keep in mind that the first few episodes or so are fairly slow and there are some characters you may take a disliking to early on.
Keep going, because Eureka Seven is probably the best mecha anime I've seen from BONES.
The main character looks like Lelouch from Geass, has a weaker version of Haruto's power from Valvrave, and has the same first name as the Persona 4 protagonist.
I don't know how I should feel.

Glad that the episode concentrated on Decim and Chiyuki with the whole arbiter shenanigans more as a backdrop. Direction was again really strong in this one and both character arcs concluded satisfactorily for me.
Overall I really enjoyed Death Parade, especially the more subdued moments (though the over the top stuff was entertaining too). Production values were high throughout and the character designs were pleasantly different.
Would recommend.

I cannot think of a better way to have ended this anime. I too must admit surprise that the ending wasn't nearly as bittersweet as I expected it to be. The fight scenes were amazing and its clear they threw everything and the kitchen sink at this last episode to make it really shine.

I was sure Ema would die at some point in this episode, but I'm honestly glad she didn't. Leon has had so much taken from him. Was also a bit surprised the Prince didn't play a bigger role in the fight, but he had his small moment and I suppose it was Leon's time to shine. I found his mother's last gift to Leon to be incredibly moving even if that is something I've seen before in fiction. Its amusing to think Leon will soon be training his soon to be little brother up in the ways of the Makai.

I don't disagree. With just that clip its action also surpasses its own comedy and romance.
Now I should mention that I dropped that show only a couple episodes in but the thing is, if I find a show to be completely appalling in the first couple episodes it's highly improbable to turn into anything decent. You can have a slow start, that's fine. But not a terrible one. If a director/studio cannot manage to do some of the most important episodes, the early ones, correctly then what hope is there for the rest.
Considering that this is a romcom and I actively despised all characters 2 episodes in and didn't crack a smile, no thanks.

Even episode twelve's driving sequence felt integral to the story, with Miyamori driving on a snowy night to the Andes Chucky theme, the series that initially pushed her into the animation business reemerges as an important piece of her life, with one of Chucky's staff members now helping her out of a bind. The final product that Musani comes to create carries the animation heavy action elements while feeling like a parallel to the studio overcoming the uphill battle they've been struggling with since the series began.
Meanwhile episode twenty-four feels like lost snippets of the show cobbled together to bring things to a close. What purpose does the on location sequence serve at this point, other than to undermine the tension of the deadline itself? We check in with numerous characters to simply find out that they are doing their jobs, and the problems that do arise range from trivial (minor voice acting flub that's fixed with almost no effort), to the murky, massive, and undefined (the deadline is looming, but what does that mean?).
Instead of the production challenges serving as a point of drama there's a huge emphasis on delivering the production materials, a pointless and impersonal task loaded up on reused CG in some effort to create tension. There is no thoughtful solution here, and the pieces themselves fail to cohere. If anything the impotent action and careless animation work heavily undercut any sense of triumph for what the characters do. The in world cast can "work" as hard as they want, but as a series Shirobako is a lumpy and disfigured effort that lacks emotion in crucial stages. Anime sure does suck. Is this what all that work was for?
Shirobako's finale getting a pass is kind of irksome to me. I would strongly implore fans of the series to look back at episode twelve to see what can actually be done with the subject material. The impending deadline of Musani Animation's earlier production had this light at the end of the tunnel when the storyboards were finished, but executing on them seemed an impossible task within the given timeframe. An amusing Anno parody points Miyamori to an internal solution: an under-appreciated and forgotten staffer at Musani itself who was capable of high quality animal animation. The audience is given a clear and well defined problem, and a logical solution was carefully pieced together in a manner that brought the studio staff together while highlighting the talents of individual players. Character progression naturally fits with the younger characters being able to take away a lesson from those around them while rising up to the challenge in their own way.

For what its worth, we're speaking about a country that can be rather backwards concerning technology. Them calculators and fax machines for example. Though I honestly don't know how extensive any of this is so I don't wanna blabber nonsense.
Well if it was just Taiga tsun antics that scared you off, I would tell you to persevere but if you saw nothing of worth in the first episodes then you wouldn't change your mind after seeing more.

Not that I'm all that privy to the details so I'm mostly guessing, but I imagine that digital masters fit for broadcast would require infrastructure on the TV station's end to actually use them for broadcast and would be too large to be transferred to multiple locations in the eightish hours or so they needed upon completion of filming. I imagine production companies don't use these super space-efficient ultra compressed encodes people on the outside would be used to because why would they?

I mean unless the files are like 15+ GB, it still seems like it would be much more efficient just uploading and downloading the files compared to flying/driving/taking a train X many hours. You could also send the file to multiple locations at once via a digital format. I find it difficult to believe that a broadcasting station wouldn't have the infrastructure necessary to use a digital file for broadcasting.

I don't know what the fuck to say to this show. It's so hard to even pin down what I think because you can hardly pin down anything about this show since it's all about as set in stone as air. The designs, art and animation are all great but it's goofy and stupid and awful and makes no sense almost in the same way as Garzey's Wing, but maybe not so much so more like Brain Power'd I guess. I was enjoying it a lot until Towasanga, then it became indecipherable. I really want to know what the production of this series was like. The show makes so little sense and is so poorly put together that I can only think -
1. It's on purpose
2. This was a 4 cour show
3. Tomino is literally insane and doesn't give a shit anymore and the staff just rolled with it. I said Anno was the George Lucas of anime but who knows.
And there IS so much that is never explained or makes no sense unless you looked it up. What the FUCK is a Kuntala? The Rayhunton Code? The G-IT Corps? Why was Luin so mad at Bellri to begin with? What was Bellri even doing fighting? What the fuck was Raraiya doing? Who? What? Why? When? WHERE?
I honestly regret putting Try and G Reco on my AOTY list over Cross Ange, but at the time I was enjoying it. Maybe it was always shit but God did it come crashing down fuckin hard.
Oh well. At least the ED is godly and I will love it forever.

Well the advantages of a digital format are pretty self-evident, I'm not disputing that. Frankly in this case the answer really just does seem to be because physical tapes are the only deliveries allowed.

No, I still am not a fan of the universal "big eye with dot nose" design for the female characters and I think that there could have been a little more balance in how the story handled the main 5, rather the 4 not named Miyamori, since she is the center of it all. And I probably won't remember any of the OST outside of the 2nd ED (Lelulelulaaaaaaaaaaa).
But at the end of the day the writing and scenario is what carried this series. It makes you care about these characters and you want them to succeed, which is something that can not be said about many other series.
Although if this was supposed to be designed as recruiting tool saying "Hey, join the anime industry! There might be hard times, but it'll all work out and you get to create great things! We totally won't prey off you, promise!", then it failed horribly because I ain't going anywhere near it. As a creator, investor or otherwise.
While it probably won't top my AOTY for 2015, it'll come pretty damn close. And I look forward to the likely S2.
