Except, the Wii U 's situation is why they need it out, the "inexperience with HD development" was said years ago now, and they NEVER show anything substantial until a month or so before hand. So that leaves at best 1/4 of your argument remotely tied to reality rather then being based on truthness,
Why? Zelda isn't a system seller. I could totally buy the idea that they'd want it out for credibility/good-will purposes, but that's about it. They don't need Zelda like it's a new installment of New Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo is not realistically expecting Zelda to move units or pull in a large amount of money.
Also they've been talking about HD development troubles since 2014...we're only one month into 2015.
Furthermore, Skyward Sword's initial trailer revealed a whole lot of stuff about it's core design. We saw a significant chunk of Faron, enemies (Bokoblin, Deku Babas, and a Stalfos), the "Earth Temple" dungeon, the beetle item, puzzle dynamics (using the beetle to pick a bomb and blow up a wall), dungeon mechanics (The rolling boulder from the earth temple), the whip, a fully-realized boss encounter, and the inside of Skyview Temple.
And you gotta realize that the whole "reveal everything the month beforehand" thing was going strong back in 2010, but they still didn't really hold back on Skyward Sword.
This trailer tells the viewer a lot more about how SS works than any media released for Zelda U so far.
The reason I want the game to be delayed is to make sure the game has enough varied content and enough polish to make it one of the best games ever.
I'm still playing Skyward Sword, and after the Lanayru Sand Sea area, I can tell Nintendo started padding the game and it has become somewhat boring to be honest.
Thing is, that stuff isn't really padding...
People on GAF really have a hard time actually distinguishing padding from things that they don't like...it's a damaging mindset.
I guarantee you that gameplay elements like the tad tone collect-o-thon and the Eldin stealth segment will be in Zelda U no matter how long they work on it, they need to create interest curves by providing the player with unique and diverse challenges; it's a legitimate part of game design, despite the fact that the infamous lackluster tad tone quest should have been substituted for a better designed segment.
