This game... (side quest? spoilers ahead)
I was testing combos in the area leading to the Grand Cathedral, when this creature appeared out of a red portal and two shot me with its linen bag like weapon. After a brief cutscene, I'm now in some kind of church with the creepiest statue sitting in front of the bonfire.

I almost killed the creature that came out of the portal, anyone knows if I missed a good item by getting killed? The lore this place is hinting at is making me excited to see where this game is going with its story.

Hats off to the creators, I'm genuinely unnerved by what just happened. Extremely unexpected.

Great place to farm bloodshards.

I also agree with the sentiment of the games bosses regressing in difficulty. It didn't have anything to do with skill level, or character level either. The later bosses are simply easier. More time inbetween attacks. More breathing room to heal. More room to move around in general actually. It was definitely odd to me, but from what I've played in the chalice dungeons, some of those bosses are back to the original difficulty level.

Man, the F
ather
G
ascoigne
storyline with
the daughters
is so fucked up. I feel bad everytime I think about it. Well done, FROM. Didn't feel for NPCs like that since Dark Souls' Fair Lady.

On the gameplay side, does anyone feel like the difficulty is regressive?
Near endgame-spoilers:
Father Gascoigne and Amelia both were harder than any boss outside of the Vicuous Spider. Every other boss seems to give you enough breathing room to heal up, while Transformed Gascoigne and Amelia just wreck your shit constantly without seeming to have a stamina bar. Like, I wouldn't complain if they were mid-way bosses, but right at the start? Followed by basically one-shot bosses like BSB, Witches, Reborn One, Micalosh? Even Amygdala is easier.
Doesn't have anything to do with my skill level either, since I've beat every other Souls before.

Yeah I feel the same way, although for BSB i found him pretty relentless aswell. Had no problem with any bosses past
amelia
That being said some chalice dungeon bosses are pretty crazy... looking at you
abhorrent beast

So I just noticed that the Spockhammer has lettering chiseled onto its surface. I have yet to play it but is there any significance to them?

Definitely agree about the "tightness" of areas - so far nothing mediocre or even slightly forgettable, 100% amazing. The difficulty thing, I don't know... I noticed a major difficulty spike when I got to
Yahar'gul (the part with the bell maidens) and the skeleton blobs that drag the boxes behind them
. Shit was super hard.
Yea I agree that part is hard if you don't know what's going on.

Bell maidens spawn enemies and amp them up to have crazy stats. Then there are those giant spiders which occasionally grab you for huge damage or do their lasers. Not to mention the triple Hunters in that one area. The skeleton boxes are actually easy to kill if you approach then 1 by 1, they have crap mobility and easy to hit from.behind. Plus they drop good loot so its worth killing them.

However the bosses in general regress in difficulty. The Unseen Village boss is way easier than bother Cleric Beast and Father G.

Just finished, lvl 85, 28 hours.

Final boss spoilers
That Gehrman fight was great. Such a good looking place to fight too. The thing after him was too easy though.

Just beat
Rem
, and now this game game has transitioned from unnerving to creepy as F--k!

I think that's kind of a point of no return. Once you do so most NPCs cannot talk to you/don't exist anymore. Wish I had known that! Screwed me up saving one of them.

I have no idea where to go now.

Killed:
Tee beast Cleric
Father G
BSB
Viscar Amelia
The prison boss ( the electric mofo)
The Witch

Any tips?

That's the one. And no, as soon as you step
out of the mill (past the snakehead guy on the bridge and to the right), there's a 2nd elevator that goes up to the lantern. Didn't you already activate that one?

I did and I could sware the first one lead to a
snake guy, how did I miss it this time. Thanks! I was backtracking back to the village lol. ok back to the mill then, I need to hand these echoes in, im sorry but I do.

also, I have no notes near bosses because im offline like the pussy I am. seriously tho, I hate invasions, get the fuck out of my game and leave me alone

So, How is GAF thoughts overall on Bloodborne? I havent played many hours but, man, my Hype for a game havent been satisfied like this in a really long time!!!! there are times where the combat of this game gives me the vibes from the first DMC

They changed how invasions work so you're basically good to go with being online.

I just finished, too. Level 95, I think.
The Gehrman fight was indeed awesome. I rarely parried throughout the game, but I went one handed with my ludwick's holy blade just for him, lol.

I just killed the 3rd boss (
Blood-Starved Beast
) and I have no idea where to go next.

I went to the cathedral and got my ass kicked by some hooded dude carrying a bag, and then I respawned at some "Hidden Village" place. I have explored all of it (I think) and found some electric dog boss that seems way to hard for my level. Is there where I am supposed to be at this point in the game?

Arcane 15! Now I'm completely done :p

Fuck it, VA is ridiculous.

I'm watching other people fight her and she's not doing half the moves that she does to me. Am I fighting a different boss?

All the videos I'm watching never show her back up, never show her foot kick/scratch you and she almost never combos her moves. Yet she is relentless with me. This makes O&S, Four Kings, whatever souls games have ever had look puny.

If anyone wants to put me out of my misery, level 30 and I've run the beckoning bell.

Chalice dungeon fun:

Fought a triple boss of souped up fatties on a rather confined platform. Pretty much focus fired down the one with a gun and then picked off the other two, hammer R2 absolutely crushed one of them.

Moved onto a new layer featuring giant fireball shooting centipedes. Currently fighting a giant lava dog. Current layer had some absolutely cavernous spaces, so far pretty impressed with the variety in the dungeons.

I have the ability to go to
Cainhurst Castle
right now. I've beaten all the bosses up to
Rom.
Should I go or is it too early?

I don't think invasions happen unless you summon someone. Haven't been invaded once in 20 hours and I've only played online.

Has anyone beaten amelia in coop?

I helped out a couple of people in co-op against VA. The first time, there was the host and two partners. I don't think the boss managed to get off more than two attacks, since she was in a state of constant stunlock from our collective wailing on her.

Sooo I killed
the Machine Gun guy
in Old Yharnam and now his drops are stuck in mid-air, somehow.

What can I do? I was hoping to get his weapon :(
