Okay guys, curious about these mysterious items. .

Empty Phantasm Shell, Beast Roar, and Messengers Gift. Will I find out how to use them as I play through the game, or is there a trick? If it's too spoilerish, just tell me and let me experience it myself

Empty Phantasm Shell and Beast Roar are just this game's version of magic. That's it.
They require 15 arcane to use and consume QS bullets per-use.

Yeah I went with the Chikage. It's served me well in boss fights.

Sucks in PvP so far unfortunately. Doesn't do enough damage to offset the total lack of stagger. Then you have the whole slowly dying thing... which when you're at reduced stats from invading hurts. Also guns even on a bloodtinge build + ash don't do shit for damage vs other players.

Very sad :(.

An I wasting my time breaking crates looking for items? I'm not even sure if I've found anything in them yet. I break them when looking for shortcuts of course.
Some items may be obscured behind breakable objects, but you'll (virtually) never find anything actually inside of one.
I literally have a list of objectives, plan-makings and ideas that are on my "to-do-list" :lol

I love how your
porn
folder has a Yoshi icon with a fitting expression.

Guess i need top make it to
the ladder
earlier post from me:
Okay so how do I get up to the Gatling Guy?
After you go over the first bridge (still out of range of the gatling) keep right. There is a way down which goes through a broken building. Go from cover to cover and be carful, there are some ambushes. This way will lead you to a ladder, up the tower to the gatling gun.
And then .... youarealreadydead.jpg.

I'm really struggling with this first boss damn.

Whenever it feels like he's stopped between attacks long enough for me to do something, I can't reach him. If I get close enough for my attack to actually hit I don't have enough time to then get out before he starts attacking again.

I just stumbled into boss:
darkbeast paarl
but I don't remember how to get to him

does anybody know which lantern I port to and which direction I head?

Stay close. You have a ton of invincibility frames when you side step. Practice side-stepping through his attacks in between your attacks. The only time you need to back off is when he starts emitting a red circle (or you can just throw a molotov instead).

Dedication right there. What level should I be for amelia? Think I'm like a 33 right now
There are so many variables to a fight like Amelia! I personally feel that if you're playing with the an upgraded starting axe/cleaver then you should be fine at around 30-35. The cane, however, takes abit of time until it becomes super viable against bosses.

I did a chalice dungeon with my friend, but after the boss it kicked me out. In order for a group of friends to clear an entire chalice dungeon together, does that mean every single person has to host each level so they can progress in their own instance? That seems really stupid. Especially since it takes 5-10 minutes after ringing bells for the system to even find each other

Also; is there any weapons that is exclusive to Ng+ or NG++?

Burial Blade in NG+

My friend is near the lantern at Old Yharnam and I'm just in the hunter's dream and It won't let me use any of my bells. So odd.

I recently just beat the second boss.
You have to be in the same area as the person you are either summoning or being summoned by (and there are certain areas where you can't use it regardless, like in a boss arena or elevator). You can't use the bells at all in the Hunter's Dream.

Don't always rely on distance to keep you safe. You want to stay reasonably close so that you can get those hits in when the chance arises and rely instead on timing the dodges right and positioning yourself well throughout. The boss has a wide attack range but a lot of blind spots up close, even at the front.

No offense but reading your early start in the series earlier I'm surprised you're still at it so you've got the right mindset, just apply it to the boss too. Most everything can be defeated with ease with the know how and a pinch of skill. Just try to learn his attacks and you'll have him down before long.

Chalice dungeon summoning is screwed up. Also, networki passwords have been completely hit and miss. 3 of us playing all with passwords. My friend summons me even though I'm 13 levels ahead, yet our third friend doesn't get summoned even though he's closer in level to the summoner...

WTF

I almost beat the
SoY
boss, but unfortunately I forgot to mind my spacing and got fucked by tombstones, lol twice in a row. I actually almost had them on the first encounter but I fucked up.

Anyway my Boss progress:
Cleric, Father Gascoigne, Blood Starved Beast, Witches of Hemwick, Amygdala, Vicar Amelia
. I think that's all the ones I've done.

I honestly can't believe how big and complex the Forbidden Woods happen to be, God tier design on everything in this game.

Love the world and lore and monsters. So fucking good!

This is the Lovecraftian game I've been waiting for.

Ok. Beat P
aarl
, opened a gate back to where I've been before. Anything else here to do?

Where the lamp is when you port into area for Paarl. If you run past to Jailer guys and take a left you end up outside with some good stuff to pick up and you can open that door from the outside thats to the left of the lamp

I feel like a dumbass. Haha. Thanks. Are they one time use?
Nope! Although someone else did a better job at explaining what they do, I'll point out that there should be a line in the item description that indicates whether an item has "finite" or an "infinite" number of uses. I found that to be helpful, at least.

Through the sewers and then up a ladder. Go through the cemetery with mangled trees and shit. Find the place where there are rabid dogs and villagers and go to where they were coming from.

Hmm. I went through the sewers and used the ladder
directly in front of the tunnel with the bull.
Is that the ladder you meant?

Thanks for the tips guys I'll keep going. I'm a persistant person and I don't give up eady so I've got that going for me I guess :D

I think you need to be in the same chalice "seed" (indicated by the string of characters when you examine the ritual headstone). Also, I thought you needed a certain item (for the makeshift altar) to be able to do co-op there, but maybe I'm wrong.

So I have killed
Vicar Amelia
and now have at least three different ways to go, all of which seem like horrible choices, which is the least nightmarish area to head next?

Wow, i am watching some videos of people using the hunter axe on some bosses I struggled with, seems crazy OP on some fights.

LATE GAME SPOILERS
I just reached nightmare of mensis. Is there a point of no return? I want to do as much as possible before I finish and start NG+, just don't want to screw it up.

I freaking love this game. Were the previous Souls games this good? I could never get into Demon or Dark for some reason. Im gonna have to try again after Im done with this game.

When leaving the Church head right and you'll go through the woods and eventually stumble upon a Village with an optional boss there.

The area was super easy and you get a great reward for doing it.
