New GTA 5 PC Screenshots 3/27/2015

the biggest thing will probably be the ability to have far greater LOD and vegetation draw distance...

one thing I've noticed in a few of the PS4 vs PC shots is that sometimes they seem to misleadingly suggest the PS4 doesn't have vegetation, pedestrians, etc in a certain location, when actually it does... the problem, and the large PC advantage, is that the PS4 just cannot draw them at the same great distance chosen to favour the PC in the comparison. there's a farm pic I've seen used a lot on both versions where the PS4 version looks like the farm field is completely barren, but if you drive there on PS4, it's loaded with vegetation -- it just cannot draw the vegetation if you stand back on the road

so there may not actually need to be a large difference in actual vegetation because there's already a lot on the PS4. the great advantage is the PC will be able to draw the vegetation, or higher LOD textures, from far farther away... which is going to make the sweeping hillsides or open countrysides look much better. and that'll probably be the strength.

I just realized that we from Brazil got the cheapest GTA V in the world.
Pretty neat. Too bad our economy is in shambles.[/QUOTE]

I live in Norway.. :( So I saw the price in the Steam store last week and I simply said to myself "Steam can go fuck themselves with those prices" (I already bought the 360 version as well).. So unfortunately I kinda feel pressured to use some grey market key store to buy this game (405 NOK instead of 540 NOK).

I bought the DVD version GTA IV, which was beneficial for a while on some mods but that was back then. I'm wondering do I go digital this time? I can still see a lot of people buying the DVD though being a popular title. Not that I expect mods to take off with V.

Nuuvem is legit, no shady keys or anything. So if you don't care about not having it on Steam, buy it from there.

How do you do that? I tried adding the game to my basket, but I get a message that Google translates as " this product is not available in your region".

Use the Hola add-on and enable it, should set it to a Brazilian proxy automatically on that site. You can then proceed to the checkout. And Hola is only enabled on the site you were on when you enabled it, so PayPal won't go through it. So no need to worry about paying through a proxy.

Some games require you to use a proxy to add it to the cart and some don't. I have never had any problems with games bought with or without proxy there.

Use FlyVPN if you experience issues trying to pay with PayPal when using Hola, which is somewhat common. Since GTAV is going to be the first game delivered via Social Club there exists the small possibility that the key will be region-locked, however given that Brazil is covered under the ROW (rest-of-world/international) sub on Steam, Social Club itself should be set up similarly (i.e. you shouldn't have anything to worry about, but again we're in uncharted territory here so nobody can say for certain).

Was buying the game off a Brazilian guy earlier, not because I was looking for a discount, but because it's not showing up in the steam store here in Venezuela (but the Brazilian gift version can be redeemed here just fine) and the key sites are not carrying steam version keys for it, and was shocked when he told me how much I owed him for it (~$35). Sweeeeet.

Is there any good use for getting this on Steam? I thought I remember that people who wanted to mod GTA IV were better off with the non Steam version.

Yessssssss!!!!!
My new i7 4790k + GTX 970 are ready, but holy shit 65 GB!!!!
This has been making me curious as to when we will be able to preload. Although my download speeds are fast, I'm still hoping they don't just make it the day before as i may accedently forget about it lol.

Now I'm starting to wonder what the DRM will be like if you get it on a disc. Will it be the same as Max Payne 3? I can't download 65 gigs.

Social Club DRM i think. So yeah, the same as Max Payne 3.

It's the same if you buy it anywhere else except for Steam.

I guess, nobody saw what I did there.

After seeing the new PC screens...

Has this spot been located in game?

This has always been the most important aspect of making a city feel 'real' to me. Frankly, after believing the bull shots/videos from the last two releases, I'm going wait a while before grabbing this on discount. I mean, it's a great game and a technical marvel without the BS, but I want a ped/traffic density mod first.

The traffic gets pretty heavy in the afternoon and night on PS4 but not to that extent.

sure, it's in mirror park... video below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r60DefwbRW8

it's mostly the same but they changed it a little since I think they redesigned mirror park as a whole since that first trailer... that grass would be out of place in the neighborhood. the size of the shadows are probably placed in debug mode, too; there's no trees behind that area to place such large shadows (the video above is right at sunset and is basically the most shadow you'll see other than complete coverage from the mountain before sunset).

main thing that changed is just the npc... no one does that. that house could have the sign... many houses in that neighborhood do, as you can see in the video. and there is some npc life: aside from generic walkers, there are a few people standing around and talking, sitting on fences, stuff like that. no one pounding sign posts into the ground tho.

Looks great, hopefully my 690 holds up decently for now, I'm trying to wait for the gtx 1000 series before upgrading.

Bullshot accusations in a pc screenshot thread are always so fucking adorable. :3

Lmao this. I'm going to wait on a sale before picking this up but those shots look very achievable @ 4K/30 fps with the proper hardware.

im so excited for the pc release, because then i think SP DLC will be next

i wonder if it will be new characters or continuing the Trio's story

i would like to see a prequel with Michael and Trevor's early days in North Yankton

Well it has full controller support on Steam so you won't have to mess with any launcher and hook a keyboard and mouse up. I don't remember any instances of people having trouble with modding IV with Steam and a Google search hasn't revealed anything either.

I am so excited for this game now!
And I am also glad that I have not spoiled it for myself by looking on youtube and so on.
It will be a brand new experience.

Aren't all versions going through the launcher regardless? It should be unified under one as they will probably be pushing all updates through the launcher and the focus on online play is pretty big.

First world problems and all that, but the one thing I don't like about these huge games is that it takes forever for Steam to unpack a preloaded game. With my internet it's faster to wait until it's released and download it all and skip that really long unpacking process. If the download goes at max speed it would take me ~15 minutes for a 45GB download and from previous experiences unpacking other games have taken up to 20-30 minutes.

I wish a preload install was just as fast as a normal install. =/

It wouldn't say it has Full Controller Support on Steam if there was something you couldn't get through on the game without connecting a mouse and keyboard.

That's actually a really good question that I want to know the answer to.

I'll probably buy it on disc now that you bring that up though.

Oh yeah I forgot about the launcher. Another game that will live in your Steam library ... for as long as 2K feels like paying for the social club to keep working.

Sorry 2K, I buy games, I dont rent them.

Borderlands 2 has a launcher that you can control with the gamepad. No problems there.
And I wouldn't worry about GTA disappearing anytime from Steam. It's nice and convenient.

I dont buy any game that requires an external launcher. No Uplay games, no GFWL games ever again, and no R* Social Club games. Your game will be worthless as soon as those companies decide that the launcher isnt worth updating or supporting with their shareholders money anymore.

The launcher is still unnecessary given that it only lets you change game settings which you can already do in-game. It's like the Vita, you click on the game in Big Picture Mode to get into the game's specific hub, then click launch, and then still have to launch the damn thing from the launcher. I'm tired of these publishers thinking all PC peeps like to stay hunched over their keyboards with their eyes inches away from their monitors.

Most digital games you are "renting". Don't actually own them.

We'll see, but even 40GB is problematic for me. I'll probably only buy it on Steam if the download is under 25GB.

This may not be an accurate comparison, but its all we have to work with at the moment...

The GTA5 files (w/ latest patches) on my PS4 total around 55Gb. A DL Bluray disc is 50Gb....but judging by the amount of time that install from disc was, there was alot of uncompressing going on. I'm taking a guess that the disc possibly held around 30Gb of data

The PC version may possibly have alot more assets to deal with, larger texture files etc...so that's why I am ballparking its download size at around 35Gb (which makes it almost the same size as their last PC release ... MP3)

Then surely you don't buy Steam games either and only buy from GOG.

It's a matter of who I trust. A large corporation who has a legal commitment to increase the value of their companies stocks. Or do I trust a company that is privately owned and can do whatever they want. A company that has proven over time that they can definitely be trusted. What the hell has 2k or Ubi ever done that makes you trust their client as much as Valves. It's goddamned laughable to compare the 2 companies. Come on man.
