Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Anyone read the new halo book new blood? It might be one of the worst books Ive ever read in my life. It reads like poorly written fanfiction.

This just tells me that you haven't read much poorly written fanfiction. New Blood was solid and pretty well written; even if you don't like the story beats, they did a great job of capturing Buck/Fillion's speaking style.

Only thing I didn't like about New Blood was the exhaustive recount of the events of ODST. Everything else was great. Very easy to read in Nathan Fillions voice, the character made the transition from game to paper well.

Really hope Buck turns up in 5.

It's going to be bananas?
343 announcing the resolution confirmed lol

Please just hurry up and confirm a september release date! After the beta, I need this in my life..

Thanks.

These are the best blogs to read on Waypoint, I swear.

I'm liking New Blood so far, myself. I still have to catch up on the previous novel, though.

I haven't read New Blood yet- for the sole purpose of waiting for ODST to be re-released so I can play through that then read the book.

Broken Circle is really great. It's got a lot of Covenant political struggle and intrigue!

I actually didn't mind the story beats at all. The dialogue and characters were just terrible. I should mention that I'm not a fiction elitist or anything, I've really liked every other halo books sans the karen traviss novels.

Aw yiss. For whatever reason that's the kinda stuff that interests me the most in Halo, the overall politics of the world, which is probably why I dug the Traviss novels as much, and Halo 2's campaign as well.

Same here. You definitely won't be disappointed by Broken Circle then. It's got that type of stuff all throughout.

does anyome know if Locke will have fellow Spartans with him to track down Chief or is he by himself?

You can see other IVs with him in the trailer from last year.

It's rumored that Buck, Macer and Romeo are the three Spartans with Locke. But again, just rumors. No concrete information whatsoever.

My expectations will be set low so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

More importantly, has anyone quit their job yet to not miss this

Thankfully I'm off on weekends. But I do have vacation days waiting to be scheduled for when we find out the release date for Halo 5.

My time is a little past 3 hours and 40 minutes. No idea why others are getting different times. Really odd.

Because it's set to 6pm your local time, instead of 6pm Pacific Time. It's a broken countdown.

And like I said previously... People in other timezones already have the countdown at 00:00:00.

1. What exactly looks stunning about a CGI Trailer?
2. I must have missed something
3. It wasnt really that hard to see that its the Chief.
4. Kinda agree
5. war sphinx
6. Music sounded as generic as the Halo 4 music.

So yeah, that Halo 5 Trailer wasnt good or special
This. The trailer was fine - but post-Marty Halo music has been terribly generic. I'll be so disappointed if Halo 5 doesn't have the Halo Theme in it somewhere.

He did a good job with Halo 4's music.

I just don't think we'll ever get anything as definitive as the previous trilogy. Maybe with 5 we'll get music that will really stand out.

And hopefully, better mixing as well.

This. Halo 4 had solid tracks, but it was awfully mixed. Letting us set our own sliders would go a long way (hint, hint.)

Yeah, talk about taking Bungie's mixing for granted. The music in the previous games were better blended into the game, I feel. It didn't feel abrupt as it does in Halo 4. Go through a level in Halo 3, like The Covenant and see how well the music flows throughout, even when you have to restart a checkpoint.

Only good track i remember from him is the Never Forget midnight version. And that track only happened at the credits lol And that track is not even his own work. Marty is still goat. 343 should hire him. I really want him back.

Besides that? nothing.

I wouldn't say it's memorable, but I dug his stuff a lot like Mantis, Atonement, and Intruders. Plus, his 117 song was awesome, and +1 for a hint of the Halo theme, too.

Of course, I do want to hear more from ND, too.

Atonement is a great track. As close to a theme as Halo 4 can get.

Also, it's REALLY important to point out that outside of 117, Kazuma Jinnouchi did not do ANY of the main Halo 4 music. That was all Neil Davidge, a producer/cowriter in Massive Attack, and he's scored a few films as well. Kazuma primarily did the music for Halo 4 Spartan Ops. Those are his tracks. In fact not even all of those.

Arrival
117
Revival
Green And Blue

really? you didn't like these once?

Halo 4 soundtrack was BRILLIANT.

Revival, Arrival and Green & Blue was done by Neil Davidge. And they sound great, but werent really made for the game. They dont fit or were horribly mixed into scenes.

117 is the most generic military track ive heard. I dont get why people like that track.

Halo 4s Music wasnt brilliant.
It was a Score that could fit under every Hollywood scifi movie.
It was clear that the music wasnt done inhouse and Davidge couldnt do jack shit without seeing the game.
The making of from the Soundtrack made it clear that most of the time Davidge had to use Concept Arts to get a inspiration for the music, which is very bad.

Agreed. It's my favorite Halo soundtrack, overall. There's just so many absolutely amazing pieces of music.

Ah i see... someone that doesnt like the old Halo's but felt in love with H4. Almost every piece of this music didnt fit to the game and its scenes.

snip...

OK his contributions are much better than Davidge's. Can't stand all the low hums and "pwing pwong zeeeeoooowwwww" of the Davidge tracks. I mean if you're gonna make a Halo soundtrack... At least use the correct instruments.

I dunno about all that. Halo 4's soundtrack isn't bad in it of itself, I don't think. It was cool to see Davidge's take on the material, regardless of how well we think it turned out. I don't think there's such thing as "correct instruments". We've had Marty do the music for the whole series until 4 (minus Wars, which I loved). That was his take on Halo, now we got to hear this take is all.

HUH!?

Over Marty's work?

Nah, it's not bad. I guess I'm just to attached to Marty's version of Halo music.

Playing through Halo 4 as we speak. Man, 343 are wizards in terms of visuals. This game looks better than Destiny in certain spots.

Trying to emulate Marty for Halo 4 would have been the wrong move. He's in a league of his own. Having some one do a pale imitation of him wouldn't have worked. The best move for 343 was to go in a different direction. Hence Neil Davidge and a more electric sound.
