I've been recently been re-watching some DBZ and just finished the Great Saiyaman Arc. I have to say i really enjoyed it. It was very refreshing from the usual DBZ formula. I always did enjoy Gohan's adventures in highschool ever since i was a kid. Tons of humorous, funny and awesome moments. I do remember back in my teen years though alot of people did not share this same opinion.

What do you guys think?

As someone who likes slice of life animes and those moments where everyone takes a breather from all the fighting, yep! This is kinda why I prefer the Steven Universe formula of things.

It's like the best thing ever.

They should have just made Gohan the default main character as they had originally planned to do. :|

It was ok, but went on wwwwaaayyy too long in the show. Videl figures it all out almost instantly in the manga.

Anyway I like Gohan here, and the superhero stuff was cool. I also like Videl a lot.

what's up with all the dragon ball threads, are the new movies really popular?

anyway that arc was really dumb all the time but funny, Videl is cool.

It was great and the arc should have lasted longer imo.

Young Gohan hanging out with the orphans for a while during the Saiyan Sage was cool too.

I think the school arcs are among the best in any anime/manga.

And it's interesting seeing Gohan repent for allowing his father to die by beating up street level criminals.

I liked it. It was a wacky little side story that had Gohan get some spotlight. Plus, Saiyaman was epic.

Dragon Ball isn't just about people screaming and shooting lasers. It's also pretty nutty.

I to enjoy Gohan's high school stories, was always sad it went back into the usual formula with the buu saga (though I still enjoyed it). But the anime the song they kept playing during the anime was really annoying.

I'd have preferred more of Gohan's HS shenanigans and a complete world tournament arc instead of all the Buu nonsense. It would have been great to see how Earthlings react to supersaiyans.

The Supreme Kai really sucks at doing his job.

I realy fucking love it. More time for the characters and not for the fighting, it is why Gohan's and Videl's relationship is much more accepted than chi-chis and bulma's.

^with this guy. Would love to see this "What if" story.

I remember quite enjoying the high school arc back when I read it in the manga. I really do wish Gohan's highschool and his friends became permanent fixtures rather than just disappearing. Seriously, what happened to that blonde girl and that other guy?

Yup, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Actually have felt like firing up my dvds and watching that arc the last couple of weeks.

Not really. I'm a Goku guy through and though.

The whole being super powerful yet never really using it post adolescence rubbed me the wrong way*

*I know he did use it some in the Buu Saga, but that was more of a stop gap.

I liked it, and sort of still do. But at the time I originally saw it, I hadn't seen any other anime really. Since that time though I have tried lots of other anime and found that school settings are extremely freaking popular in anime for some strange reason. Were it not for the nostalgia, I would probably dislike it due to fatigue these days.

But I remember it being a nice change of pace although a bit corny. Reminded me a bit of Dragonball with the way he met new people etc.
