She's smug and completely out of touch with this new reality. They are trying to preserve a lifestyle that is dead. World is completely changed, you can't have middle-upper class american suburbs anymore. There's no infrastructure to sustain it. Everything will degrade with time and there are no replacements unless you go out into the crazy real world. They are losing people just trying to get supplies. Her son died because they needed parts for the solar panels or whatever. And he died to walkers, not even the real threat...

They have shitty walls with no guards. Rick had a fuckin prison with razor wire fences, secured gates, watchtowers manned by reasonably trained people, round the clock security (best they could manage it) with military-grade weapons... until a psychopath drove a tank through their defenses.

And then they ran into a safe haven which was an entire community of cannibals. lol.

Their little town is so fucked. They have been unreasonably lucky. Rick and co might end up destroying the place, but it never even had a chance without them. Let Rick set up your defenses at least.

But this shit about preserving this particularly civilized way of life... it's just Rick and his garden. It's a mirage.

She is trying to hold on to the ways of the past instead of trying to figure out how you can make it work and maintain your humanity in this fucked up future. And that's why anything bad coming down the line is just as much her own fault. Rick is reasonable, but she shut him down. Refuses to have a real dialog and it's pushing him to take matters into his own hands. Since he's seen how her way plays out already.
 
to be fair, the place is still standing

rick needs to be a savage and take the place or just leave, because at least Deanna is living by her code--and the result is that people die and get hurt.

ricks way is the same, his excuse is survival, hers is community/law, whatever.

That's why the ricktatorship was formed and that's why he should elect himself into power. For the greater good!

But seriously I agree with all of that. All it takes is one person to find them and be crazy. Also don't even get me started on Deanna exiling people. That's a TERRIBLE idea.

To be fair... she never met the Governor.

The thing is she shuts anyone down who questions whether or not her ideals are realistic/sustainable. Refuses to have that dialog. This is exactly like Rick and his garden. Head in the sand.
 
I never watch live... let the show get at least 30 mins into it so I can FF through the ads... so I gotta check out until later.
