Has anyone used the Reiterpallasch(the rapier with the gun)? I'm using it right now and am having a hard time seeing the point of the gun on it. like why wouldn't just use my gun?

Man...
Vicar Amelia
is probably the best boss design i've seen

this gif killed me though lol...so good
Man... what a gif... laughed.

Best place to farm souls and blood vials? i,m in boss 8th.

Souls I don't know.

But for Vials I still go to
cathedral ward
Exit through the exit that's in fron of the lantern. Then go up the stairs. Kill the 2 white guys. Keep going, kill the white guy with the scythe, then the one with the gun, then all the others. Go down the stairs into the big round area and kill the 2 big white guys (they are sleeping so it's pretty easy to land a charged attack).
Not every run goes well but enemies in this area tend to drop 2 or even 3 vials (I generally get 4-8 per run).
When you go back to Hunters dream so they respawn you can spend the souls you just got (like 7000) on vials.

Any tips for the BSB?
lock on, wait for the attack, press "O" twice, strike twice (R1) from behind with your long trick weapon (preferably the whip), jump back, regain your stamina, rinse and repeat. Win.

The battle is about stamina... From poison defense to dodging to quick strikes with your long weapon. I had a skill build and destroyed him. 18 for vitality, 18 for stamina, 20 for skill.

Y'know it figure the first time I rage and blame the game was due to me being inattentive and not a flaw with the game.

What optional bosses have you killed? It must have been one of those that unlocked them for me.

Hunter gatling gun and first chalice boss

Seen talk of Iosefka in here. How do you even get into her clinic? I sense something sinister is going on, judging from what she's said to me, after I've sent a couple of people there.

To give you an idea of where I am I've
just defeated the Shadows of Yarnham

lol, i dunno maybe easier to set up bait parries in pvp. I got destroyed by one so...

I think I've fallen into the camp that doesn't like the blood vial system as a replacement for estus. Yes regain is supposed to be used for primary healing, but mistakes are punished in this game perhaps harder than any other Souls-type title. Too many runs back to bosses don't provide good refill potential for vials. Eventually the game flow stalls and you trudge off to mindlessly farm for vials and echos to buy vials.

Demon's Souls also relied on limited consumables, but it wasn't nearly as aggressive of a game and basic healing grass dropped plentifully.

I'm totally stumped for where to go next. Finished off BSB, VA, and Witch but can't seem to find a path forward. All the ways I find keep just leading to secret areas and items, which is good, but I want to move on.

I finished up the Eileen side quest!

How do you know when it continues? I don't want to go ahead when she says not to.

So I just killed the boss at the first chalice dungeon, layer 3 heart, and I don't see an exit from the boss area other than the lamp. Is this chalice dungeon completed?

I agreed to cooperate with Alfred, but the note isn't at BSB to summon him. :(
Maybe because he already moved to the entrance since I killed VA before talking to him in his original spot.

The
Celestial Emissary
boss was a joke. lol
Really?! I ran around for like 5 minutes trying to figure out the trick until I finally got it. But found it hard to get behind him in phase 2 without getting hit. Took him out with bone marrow ash

Hmm, try fighting
Darkbeast Paal in the Unseen Village

There's a hidden path in the village you went through to reach that boss. Don't go there until you kill the next boss though.

So has anyone else had the old lady in the chapel
Disappear
? Was going to talk to alfred before heading to the final boss and noticed
her chair was empty, with a note sating something to the effect of be right back
Anybody know
where she went
?

Spoilers you probably won't ever find yourself on this play through:

There's a hidden cave in the forest that leads allllll the way back to the Graveyard right by the Clinic and will get you in another entrance where you can meet her.

I've killed the Cleric Beast and the Father Gas boss and have no idea when or where to get beckoning bell. Is it too early to get one?

Where do I go after defeating the BSB? I went to the Healing Church Workshop but I got that badge and encountered the locked door and don't know where to go :/ Old Man in Wheelchair in Hunter's Dream isn't anywhere to be found either, so I don't know where to go. I'm assuming this isn't the chapel he told me to go to? But I can't find it...

I also got to the
Abandoned Old workshop. Creepy! What's the Umbilical Cord for? I'm afraid to just use it. What do I do with the little doll comb? Also, there's a very weird "voice" of someone sobbing and saying what I think sounds like "yes", but the sound seems to come from a tree just outside the workshop that I can't get to. What's the deal with that?

4th and 5th (?) Boss Fights:

Victor Amelia was hard but I got through with a helpful bro. Lightning paper + Ludwig's does some damage. With two people, she can't really focus and it makes the fight waaaaaay easier.

The 3 Witches was an awesome fight, intense as hell but not really "hard". Did this one solo, first time (and I wasn't expecting a boss yet). People are probably going to say this one is easy, but for me it was great.

Oh and the regular witch mobs are really well designed. Love how they dance around with their blades. Too bad this seems like a dead end?

But, no idea where to go now.

It could not withstand the might of the Axe.

SPIN TO WIN ° ͜ʖ °

Next step after 4th boss?
Vicar Amelia?

If you haven't already, take the right path when exiting the area were you fight her.

If you have already donde that and
defeated the witch
then
go down the stairs outside of the Vicar Amelia fight until you reach a big round(ish) area with 2 big white guys sleeping. Behind the one that's to the right there is a path that will lead to a door where you are asked for a password. If you have killed Vicar Amelia your character will know it

I just kept attacking the mob and noticed the life was going down so I kept doing it. altho once it went to 50% that surprised me. Heh

There's a hidden path
take the Forbidden Wood lamp. Follow until you get to the village gate. Follow the path left side hugging wall. Go pass the dog cages still hugging left side and the path is there. Enter the cave and there will be a ladder.

need to go the door with the guy asking for the password.

You "gained" the password knowledge by beating Amelia and watching that cutscene. First you want to go to the Cathedral Ward, then the large circular area with the really large monsters circling around, and I think to the left you'll find a staircase leading down to the password door. I might be a little iffy on this though...

That cutscene after the VA fight taught you a password.

NOOOOOOOOO! ;_;

I didn't want to but her quest was bugged for me. Talked to her in Central Yharnam and Cathedral Ward but when I went to the tomb there wasn't anything there (even though I couldn't warp to it). And then at some point later (after Rom and doing Cainhurst) I went to the Grand Cathedral and she started attacking me. I suspect its because I did stuff out of order in Cathedral Ward (didn't buy the badge for the gate until after I beat Amelia).

I'll do it properly in NG+ though.

Is there any downside to making my weapon fire-based with that extra bloodstone? I'm doing a lot of damage on regular enemies, but I'm worried some special enemy/boss/whatever will be fire resistant and I'll be doing there doing shit damage to it.

How high is your arcane stat?

For the blood gem fortification (or whatever it's called). Is it permanent to the weapon or can I keep upgrading it as I go on?

You can take the gems out whenever you want.

You can always take it off if you find something that's fire resistant. Gems aren't permanent.

YES Sha
dow of Yahrnam down in 4-5 tries. I used the big stone to block the flame attack and did a few visceral attacks to get one of them down. Once you get one down it gets a lot easier. Thankfully I avoided the giant snake that pops up when there's only one left. Got the NPC in the college and jumped off the edge to the lake but warped out and used the key to get into the Lecture Building so I'm going to explore that place next or do another chalice dungeon.

Okay, update on my pre-final boss moments:
Blood stone get. Mother Brain killed. Anything else? I used the Iron Key to open a new shortcut, but I don't see any extra areas. Thank you to those who have helped me thus far.
