Halo 5 is releasing on October 27th, 2015

I posted a thread about this a few months back. If you're interested to see GAF's take on it, have at it: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=932425

Yeah that's something that Joe Staten said about MC.

He's supposed to not have a face, which makes the element intriguing to all audiences.

Halo 4 somewhat ruined it, hiding behind the fact that the books describe his inner appearance.

Also with the events of what happened in Halo 4, I think it's obvious which trailer is the direction this game is heading.

You would think they would have learned their lesson, releasing two weeks before Black Ops 2 with Halo 4 and watching the population literally die the day that game came out, now the same with Black Ops 3?

Wanna take a guess as to when BO2 came out?

Maybe that was more to do with how mediocre 4's multiplayer was? Let's hope 5 is better.

Halo 4's MP was mediocre, then Black Ops 2 came out, and people bought it and stopped playing Halo 4, then found out Blops 2 was mediocre as well.

So, will Halo 5 do better because of Black Ops 2 being sub par?

I hope this won't be turning into some sort of Sonic Adventure 2 storyline or game mode.

Play two different stories for different cutscenes.

Either way releasing your game next to the biggest MP game of the year is dumb.

So will lock and cheif both be playable ala cheif and arbiter in halo 2?

Also arbiter story dlc would be welcomed

I believe it was confirmed yes

Black Ops 2 is regarding as being one of if not the best CoD since 4 by the majority of the community. Don't be suprised to see CoD numbers up this year because of the TreyArch. BO2 still hits 130k on PS3.

After fucking people over with the MCC do you think casual gamers who love CoD and Halo are going to go with Halo 5 ( After the shit that was Halo 4 ) over the follow up to the best CoD?

What is with people saying Battlefront is soon after? Unless Battlefront was some sales monster that for some reason took forever to get a third game, I think Halo is much bigger. I would also bet many Halo buyers won't move to CoD. They are very different games.
Go hang out in a gamestop that day COD releases, let me know what game they are trading in.

People bum rushed halo 4, played it and then were trading it in for blops2 (2 weeks later I believe?)

If you think 343 can beat Treyarch... Maybe we can have one of those silly avatar bets

(unless in the bolded you mean the die hards, which is self explanatory)

Let's hope it's not something worse, where you play through a level as Master Chief and then replay as Locke going through the aftermath.

They won't trade in Halo 5 if it's good. Halo 4 was so bad that's why it got abandoned as fast as it did. I agree that releasing near Blops3 is bad, but that doesn't mean people are trading in the game for it

Both of the trailers are probably true. You first play as Locke and then MC.

After all, remember what happened in Halo 4.

You... you answered your own question....

I obviously don't think Halo is going to outsell CoD, that would just be stupid. But you mention people trading the game in for CoD. If they need to do that to get CoD, then it doesn't matter when the game comes out, they would do it anyways.

CoD will outsell Halo. Halo will outsell Battlefront, unless somehow Battlefront becomes a huge hit and the MCC had a huge effect on Halo. But I doubt CoD will affect Halo's sales as much as some people are saying. Halo is not 'doomed'.

I agree about Treyarch > 343i, but I dunno about how well BO3 is going to fare vs. H5 Metacritic wise.

Undoubtedly this was large in part to BO2's release, but the long term health (or lack there of) of Halo 4 I believe had mainly to due with how poor and uncompetitive it's multiplayer was. There was very little competitive scene, no ranking to incentivize play, and gameplay that didn't "feel" like Halo.

Any game that releases before CoD... single player, multiplayer or otherwise will see a drop off in players, it's just that big of a game. What happens long term is up to the game itself and whether or not it is good enough to hold onto population. We'll see how Halo 5 does but I'd say it's already much better off than Halo 4.

Their only other viable choice is a September release and I don't think the game will be finished by then.

Battlefront will be huge. Star Wars FPS made by DICE. I think if Halo moves the same number of units as Battlefron, it it will be a huge win for MS.

Actually now that you mention it, it kind of clicked for me. They could do it the opposite of how I said, where you go through a level as Locke seeing what has happened and kill off the stragglers, and then play as Master Chief wreaking havoc. Maybe they will do a story framing device kind of like Halo 3: ODST, where certain things in Locke's level trigger out to Master Chief's level.

Launching two weeks before Call of Duty again?

343 hasn't learned shit.

No matter what, the population is going to be affected by Call of Duty. It exists now. But they've learned enough in that Halo 5, ADS/Sprint aside, is a fun Halo game. We all had fun with the beta. So if they cannot capture the CoD fans, they're at least going to keep some Halo fans happy. Maybe the sales they're going to get near Christmas time was enough to not do September?

COD sales are down. The series is getting stale for many including myself. It will still sell millions, but seriously doubt it will affect sales for Halo 5.

I don't give a damn when it launches, so long as the game is great. I don't think we need to worry about Halo selling. And as far as community is concerned, if people want to jump to another game, so what? I don't get this new mentality where people act like games only have a month long shelf life at best. It's still possible for a single game to hold one over for many months, even years.

Hopefully campaign paces better than Halo 4's.

I'm struggling to replay it due to its linear enemy design.

I'm pretty sure people generally liked the Halo 5 Beta way more than Halo 4 multiplayer. I know I did. Ranks are back, equal starts are back, Halo is back as far as I'm concerned. The release date is fine.

The HYPE thing is going on for me right now.

Halo 5 beta was the best FPS multiplayer of this gen so far for me.

Yeah, I had a tough time replaying it, as well. It has its moments, but bogs down in spots with throwing waves of enemies at you. Plus during the riding the vehicle sequence I kept having the world not load in at a certain point because of scripting problems, it took EIGHT tries to finally get it to script right, I hated that level by the end.

But yeah, I'm hoping they took things to heart and created something bigger for 5.

October 27th is my birthday. I'm sure 343 knew that I was on the fence and needed to push me in the right direction. They have succeeded.

They have a lot to prove.

I'm kind of really just sick of the 343 style of halo - something about the visuals just seems so childish and overdesigned.

And the mutliplayer beta was not interesting to me at all.

Then the game isn't for you. That's all there is to it.
