That doesn't make any sense. In the video he knocks away the hand trying to take the sword and keeps his composure. If he didn't have restraint he would have started swinging.

I honestly thought it looked like he was throwing up his hand in a theatrical "I got this" gesture - and it accidentally connected.

If that's NOT what it was, he has no one to blame for thinking that but himself.

I came to this thread expecting some cringewortthy stuff OP provides.

I leave this thread reading cringeworthy posts (OP included) and remembering a cool guy who probably lives a more fulfilling life than most who posted in this thread.

Personally I prefer to use my bare hands in a fight but swords are solid in my opinion.
More power to him that he is not only skilled in his art, but also that he is confident and clear about himself.

It's perfectly OK to ignore the fact that he said he would have disemboweled them if it had come to that. Killed them, in five steps, by disemboweling them for punching some dude he never met before. Eviscerated and killed two humans.

With a Katana. A Katana he carries around with himself all the time. And that without that Katana, he would be infinitely more dangerous.

It is fine to skip these parts.

It depends how quickly the gun guy can get to his gun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0IMHzibGqI

21 foot rule is legit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk59imFr6yI

and I wouldn't rule out light rail samurai being able to split bullets in midair just as an atom bomb splits atoms... there is no "attempt"

You guys are surprised he carries a japanese sword around ? please, I carry this...

186cm long, 4mm thick blade, around 6kg in weight. Good thing there are no legal restrictions for carrying cold weapons in the Czech Republic :)

btw: this is The Ultimate Cringe

Sir, you have not seen Foam Adventure.

Is "Light Rail Avenger" the sequel to Hyper Light Drifter
To be fair, it is a pretty sick name.

That was actually his Dim Mak move, assailant is lucky that his chi was only partially disrupted. Obviously this rail warrior carries the sword so that his real weapons don't hurt anyone.

Lol, wow. They should have asked him the name of his sword.

Oh wait...
From the description:
Got my old sword Wazwhrinza back from a friend whom asked me to borrow while she trained at her home in Iceland.

Pls. I can't. Have mercy.

I like how the dude is sporting some kind of mid to late 90s urban regalia samurai uniform. He has his own look going on.

Light Rail Avenger is actually a secret Bloodborne boss, people can't beat his second form though. He discards his sword and fights with his hands.

I did Haedong Gumdo for a few years and learned silly twirls like that. Good going, you just sprinkled everything around you with blood.

In Iaido, you make one focused sweep to clear off the blood. There are variations but I doubt any of them spin anything around.

He might have some training but I think it's at least partly from the School of Anime.

I'm wondering if he's walking around with an Iaido sword, to be honest. A sharpened sword is not carried around lightly, but if he's flashy and confident, who's going to call his bluff?

He seems like a pretty decent guy. He's just really enthusiastic about his katanas. If he was just an edgy kid with long hair then this would've been a totally different story!

And the amazing thing is he probably learned it all from anime and video games.

I can almost guarantee it.

yes, there are no spinning sheathing techniques, because they serve no purpose.

if he does then it doesn't show at all, he has no posture and his other videos demostrate a complete lack of sword control.

I do, but only with boken. Whenever I have a spare moment (waiting for a bus, after lunch, breaks in school, long walks home, etc.) I practice. Carrying a sharp blade is not a problem where I live so I wouldn't know about America but I doubt anyone would give you trouble because of it. His "advantage" is the fact that most people can't recognize if somebody has any skills or not, I should be able to beat him even without a sword, I would just wait for him to attack and if he does it like in his other youtube videos then he will be on the ground after one strike.
A little extra point, I don't believe there is a specific "Iaido sword", you can use any iaito for iaido or any other kenjutsu school.

Okay, I was sceptical heading into the thread, but wow, that was awesome. Guy sounds crazy as all hell, but at the same time, I have to respect those sword skills. Some of the comments in the thread have me clutching my sides. Gonna show all my buddies this video.

He should be in jail because .... ?

Maybe because his lack of skill could or will hurt somebody at some point. I don't walk outside with a weapon I can't use properly, that is what dojos and training grounds are for. Would you go out on the street with your first pistol without getting any training on how to use it ?

Great logic. When do we start to proactively arrest every armed US policeman?

Are you implying that US police officers do not have weapon drills and a very thorough training regarding weapons before they join the police force ?

I am not saying that he should be in jail, but after he said that he was about to kill those people then there should have been some kind of investigation, don't you agree ?

No, I'm saying it appears they can't be trusted to handle their weaponry responsibly, which for you guys seems to be a criminal offense. If anything that they actually received training would make that worse, no?

Yes, it does. But you should be aware that not all policce officers are like that. Take into account how many accidents happen and how many officers there are, I am confident that most of them are caring, respectable individuals.

But as I said, I don't think he should be arested, but publicly stating that you were about to kill people is concerning to say the least.

I won't argue the dude sounds at least a bit unhinged, but to say he should be in jail for something he might do, based on a 2 minute video is just the stupidest shit.

I agree, that is why I said that he shouldn't be in jail but letting him off the hook after claiming on tv that his sword makes him less dangerous and that he was about to kill people is also not ok.

To clarify I was talking about an iaido practice sword, which is a real katana with no edge. I have one myself.

Flourishes and spinning the sword serve only one purpose - to intimidate your opponent. (Well, they look cool too.) However I see a sword spin as a strike opportunity. :-)

Kambei Shimada: Go to the north. The decisive battle will be fought there.
Gorobei Katayama: Why didn't you build a fence there?
Kambei Shimada: A good fort needs a gap. The enemy must be lured in. So we can attack them. If we only defend, we lose the war.
Kairo Seijuro: Yeah lets gape those guys open.
