Sort of a "tradition" with From games, most have a stat that has an amazingly specific or trivial use

Even so there's all the other evidence. Why label stuff with "transform" and such. I'm certain the feature is/was in the game. Either it's there and we haven't found it, it's there and they haven't activated it, or it was removed during development.

what level were you and how much grinding did you have to do for blood and other components? ive been slogging through it not doing root (random) dungeons, but now I don't have enough to unlock new stuff, and sinister versions seem to be teh same just with pvp

133 and I didn't grind at all for anything. I would have stopped at 125 but I wanted more damage on my weapon because the HP the bosses have is so high and I don't use strength weapons.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really loving the pvp in this game. It isn't just people running around in a circle trying to backstab you or one-shotting you with magic (though, getting one-shotted could change later on once people learn all the tricks to dealing more damage). The only bad thing is that it's incredibly easy to heal. Luckily, you can parry the healing if you shoot at the right time.

Anyone else get the feeling that the lore in this game might be... on the thin side? In the other souls games so much of the lore is told through items. There are not many items in BB that give much clarity as to what's going on.

I guess we'll see if there are further interpretations and findings, but right now I don't see it having the depth of lore that DaS 1 and 2 have.

Man Paarl is no joke. Anytime I get close enough to hit him I get wrecked

Its not as hard as you think, after a few swings he should fall down on his ass. All I did was run to the side of him, charge R2, then spam R1, if he falls, repeat. I killed him and I only had about 12 vials on me when I fought him, however I fought him later in the game, after they dragged me there I left and came back later (around lvl 55ish).

So what is tge depth stuff all about? Like is that how many leveks down you are? Me and a friend made it to lvl 3 of the first chalice and it was much harder than the first 2.
When you do a Chalice, it's Depth is written on there (goes from 1 through 6).

Each Chalice has 3 levels but those aren't Depths.

Think of it in Diablo 3 terms.

Rift = Chalice

Rift levels = Chalice levels (lairs)

Torment difficulty = Chalice Depth

First Chalice is Depth#1...

Trust me on this, there's plenty of lore in the game. And I expect lots of crazy theories to brew from this game.

ie. Was it all a nightmare? Was it just some physicist going mad? Is the infant you kill at the end of the game actually his own that died in real life?

congrats. i cant even make the dungeon b/c no living string...lol. the last trophy i need for my plat.
Did you
Kill the giant brain thing in the nightmare frontier
? It drops one and you can buy more for 10 insight after.

Defiled will make all of you cry. You guys have no idea.
It's a pretty BS dungeon mechanic, I agree. It's not impossible, but it's very obviously there just to pad out gameplay by making you go through them super slowly, or to point to when people say the game isn't hard enough.

Note to From: There's fun and challenging, and then there's difficult just for the sake of it. Defiled dungeons fall under the latter, and I haven't even seen anything worthwhile to them. They're purely a way to slow you down on your way to finishing all of the Chalice types.

Im confused. I was in
lecture building
and I got warped to
nightmare frontier
. Before that I beat
The water spider thing
. Where do I go next?

Has anyone had a successful co-op summon with the Short Ritual Root Chalice?

Tried for a couple hours today and got nothing. Had to do the hokie "make a copy of their dungeon and get summoned from inside it" work around.

If i plan to use Ludwigs with an elemental gem, do I only need to put enough strength to use the weapon and the rest in arcane, vitality, and endurance the rest of the way?

I don't want to invest any more points into my character until I'm sure. Thanks for any help/advice.

Ok another question, should I continue on with chalice dungeons before going into NG? I only have 3 of 4 unlocked, do you start off with none again in NG?

Yea it seems to completely negate any physical damage when you put a elemental gem in, so more str or skill would be pointless.

Have you killed the Unborn One? If so then the place where you killed him, go up and you will be transported to a different story of the lecture building. The next zone where you have to go should be straight ahead on that level which is Nightmare Menses.

Can you give me spoiler free ways to do that?
Talk to her after you beat the boss in Grand Cathedral (she is in a house outside the Grand Cathedral, down the stairs all the way to the right there's a narrow alleyway with a bunch of houses)
Then talk to her after you beat the boss in Bernham.
Then go to her after you kill the boss in the last zone of the game (not the final boss but the one after)

No. I only killed
Rom
. Where do I warp next?

I'd suggest that poor/misleading translations are also a tradition ;) But I'll be happy to see it be something more

Holy sh*t - I just swapped out all the good gems in my Axe+9 into Ludwig's Holy Blade+8 and it now hits for 542 damage. Beating my higher level axe by a good 80. Damn that B scaling on Skill. Glad I've got 50 in Str and 35 there.

I guess I'll try this for now. Wow. Shame I don't like the two-handed charge move as much though.

I get what you mean, but the main issue is it's a wall that simply some people will not be able to pass :/

Do you know who she is? If not you best start knocking on doors in cathedral ward. Send her to the chapel. I don't know if you need to keep talking to her, but there's a particular event near the end game where she moves to another location and you'll need to find her

Some of the zones felt very Dark Souls like.
Nightmare Frontier
for example and a couple more. Was nice :)

That zone is completely optional, go back to the
lecture hall, find the next floor with another "door to the outside" takes you to the last zone (not counting secret zones)

I think deku tree has me on ignore lol

No but you edited your post after I read it so I missed your comment. Thanks! I don't know how to
find the next floor
though. Thanks!

Alright over 8 tries against blood starved beast. I finally got him to about 15% HP when he went full berserk and killed me. What am I doing wrong here? I spent 15 minutes dodging this asshole and now I gotta farm vials again. Arg.

My god I love this game. Forbidden woods is insanely huge and easy to get lost. Found the first shortcut which is relieving.

First souls experience and boy am I loving it to death. Slowly creeping it's way up my all time games list.

Try to keep close (when he's not spewing poison) and always dodge forward, then hit him into back. Have anditote ready for the last part.

I've tried to kill it like 5 times now, always fail when I try to heal myself too close to it. So irritating when the health bar is at like 10 percent. Oh well, it doesn't take that long to get to the encounter, so it's fine.

Just don't attack it from the front.
Constantly keep trying to move around to behind it, and you should dodge like, all of its attacks.
