...Dark Souls didn't have a respc, and I don't think Demons Souls had respec either.

Yeah & they put it in DS2 because it was stupid not to have it in the other games. It's just another example of how this game is a regression of the series instead of an evolution.

I asked this earlier and didn't get an answer but is there a positive to the higher difficulty that comes from having lots of insight? Should I let my insight get high or should I try to spend it on armor to keep the difficulty down?

What's the best way to fight NPC Hunters? I ran into one in the area where I fought Father G. He killed another Hunter then wrecked me up. Ignoring that guy I also am having trouble with the gattling gun guy and a couple other Hunters I've run into. I don't seem to be doing any damage even with a very high skill and upgraded (+5 I think) Threaded Cane and die almost instantly from their attacks. I probably just need to learn when to use my guns to stagger them, but I can't find the timing. I've always been utter crap at parrying in Souls games.

what i did was as soon as i climbed that ladder i kept blasting him with the pistol until he fell of the edge. at least thats how it went down for me.

I'm not even done with my first playthrough, but I'm super pumped to start character 2 to play around with builds.

Now that I know more about arcane/bloodtinge, I can't wait to start building a character that utilizes those more intricately.

Plus, I wasted a couple levels on my first guy so I could use a gun that's kinda crappy. Not a huge deal for a first playthrough, but my OG dark souls instincts tell me that I'm terrible for it lol.

Man this thread moves fast haha, anyone got any tips? Also, is Gherman supposed to be gone now? He only showed up exactly ONE time at the very beginning.

Let me first say this is my first Souls game, I'm LOVING it but having my fair share of problems. First question.

When I beat Cleric Beast I seem to remember getting a Cathedral Key or something like that, but now I cant find it in my inventory, what gives?

Also, I've made it to Father Gascione but I'm having real trouble with him. I've been using the Threaded Cane and I've upgraded it twice (maybe +3? I can't remember) but I also have non-uggraded Hunter's Axe and Saw Spear. would either of those be better?

At this point I think I've explored all areas available to me, I think i have the beat Father G to progress.

I thought insight was only for co-op, you can do other things with it?

BB includes some of the improvements from DkS2 like using multiple items at once and they even made it more streamlined with how we use items. Not being able to respec ain't that much of a regression. You just can't experiment as much in NG+.

What are the others..? I guess I don't see not being able to respec as that big of a deal

On another note, I am loving this game, its so much fun. I got Ludwigs Holy Blade finally and it is so good, definitely my favorite weapon so far! Last boss I beat was
Vicar Amelia
, that was an intense fight. Then I wandered over to
Nightmare Frontier
, very weird area. Decided I was in the wrong place so I went to
Forbidden Woods
which was a fun place. I attacked the
cannibal
and his transformation was very unexpected haha. Scared the crap out of me but it was fun!!

This seems like the kind of RPG I would love (complex battle/character creation systems and an enthusiastic following), but alas I do not own a PS4 :(

respec was only allowed in Dark Souls 2. None of Miyazaki's Souls games allowed respecing.

And that's a terrible decision. All the more reason I'm waiting for the next "B Team" game. B Team>A Team after this game there is no doubt in my mind.

:o
doing the eileen quest line and having to kill that last hunter and they fucked me over in two seconds

also one major downfall of this game is not being able to change where you respawn on the fly
if you light a new lamp it works, but otherwise you have to go back to hunters dream

Or you could just not make bad leveling decisions...

This post was a complete sarcastic joke.
I fully understand why re-rolls should be allowed. But keep in mind they should be really hard to do. Like epic in quest or sacrifice.

That boss has a spell that
immobilizes you, so if it summoned a lot of minions you'd be fucked. And the boss also does an AOE blast.

I died once to her because of that spell.

After killing the first witch I thought it was weird that her two remaining adds were still there, and thought maybe I had to kill them for the fight to end. I started walking in their direction when I got immobilized by her spell. She dashed towards me, slit my throat, and before I could get up the two adds attacked me at the same time.

Such a dumb way to die.

My favorite hands down is not having to manage equipment load. What's that? A big ass hammer? Let me see if I have enough OH WAIT NEVER MIND!

Bottom of the page so I'll repost to be a bit a of a jerk.

Is there any reason to keep
Amelia's gold medallion
or should I just use it?

Also, I love this game. After killing the aformentioned boss, all the big enemies in the area no longer move and look forlorn and hopeless. Amazing.

IIRC if you invaded someone's world in Demon's Souls and died doing so, you went down a level. You got the level point back to spend it however you wished, but you had to go reapply it.

Basically, to respec you had to invade people's games and get yourself killed repeatedly, thus also darkening your world tendency I believe.

What a crazy, legendary, original game.

Once you have 10, another vendor appears in the dream that sells gear sets for insight.

Once you have 15, the enemies get harder, gain additional attacks, and elemental damage. I'm wondering if there's any benefit to that aspect of it though.

I used it on my first playthrough, but I'm keeping it just in case something happens on this second one. It gives you a blood gem I believe.

Interested in some cheese? If so, read ahead!

If you hang out near him, he'll switch to a two handed weapon stance. The sword he has when in two handed does damage to him. Kite him back to the steps near the entrance, when he pulls out his two handed sword and starts damaging himself, walk down the steps to the door. He'll lose aggro, walk back to where he starts the fight and never puts his sword away. He'll continue losing health and die without you having to do anything.

Well, that's a backwards way to respec, but like I said a "true" mechanic only existed in Dark Souls II

And I'm glad it's gone

That seems like it might seriously impact replayability though.

50 hours in, those stupid crows got me again with a jump scare.

Also anyone have any tips for (sidequest spoiler)
fighting the hunter in the grand cathedral
? Holy shit he is tough

How do I get back to the Unseen Village? I warped out and didn't realize it didn't create a warp return point
Check the 3rd headstone, you should be able to warp back from there

I"m at R
om
boss gate. Level 51. Beckoning bell going off. Someone help please.
Just mad roll around his spiders. Never lock on, and you'll pretty much never get hit by his falling meteors. Be constantly moving, only stoping for 2-3 hits on the dude before running back to the outside. Be ready to bail on an attack attempt whenever you know he's about to do the big explosion. Got it on my second try :)

Edit: Actually 3rd lol. Here's a video

Getting past Amelia caused a huge rally for me and I vaulted forth last weekened to beat:

The Witches
Darkbeast Parl
The Shadows of Yharnam
Rom
A ton of Chalice Dungeon bosses (though I'm not sure they really count.)

I'm currently working on the
Martyr at Cainhurst
and
the One Reborn
(who I only fought twice while at a friend's house to show off the game. Not really attempted him in earnest yet.)

I don't feel like I'm in any hurry to end this game though. What would I do without it? Go back to cowering behind a shield? Pffft. No! I need to savor the not-knowing while it still lasts.

ooooh interesting
Ill give it a couple more shots the honest way but if not Ill do this, thanks!

Yes,
Its needed to open the door where it required a password to get in.

Srs post:

Anybody suffering from a lack of focus irl? I'm usually really good with handling games and college, but I'm like 3 weeks away from graduating and this game is all that's on my mind.

All I wanna do is go home, continue my ng+ play through on bsb and then start my second character.

Fuckkkkk, haven't felt this way since halo 2 high school days.

I wouldn't mind being able to reallocate, say, 10 levels once per game cycle. But willy nilly respec like in Dark Souls 2 was part of its general insecurity about what kind of game they were making.
