Bloodborne |OT3| I Cane, I Saw, I Conqu- YOU DIED

I feel like Bloodborne doesn't want me to play the bosses with maximum challenge.
I get that some of you are FROM game masters and are doing a lot of bosses first try etc.
And mastering the intended boss mechanics most of the time looks like a lot of fun.

I would love to practice each boss solo over and over until I master the mechanics and beat the boss fight. I would even stock up on potions so that I have lots of them and don't need to worry about replenishing them right away etc.

What I have no interest in doing is having some long several minute boss approach sequence every single time I wipe. I don't want to run across the map over and over again. Not being able to start directly at a lot of bosses and being forced to spend several "no fun" minutes getting back to them after spending 40 "no fun" seconds on a loading screen, really makes me totally un-interested in putting the time in to master each boss battle.

I'd rather summon help and get through it that way.

I can't think of a boss that has longer than a 30 second run time to it. Maybe Cainhurst's boss, but that's probably it. You know you never have to attack a single enemy while running to a boss, right?

I wanted to build mine like that as well :P
How are you raising your stats? Focusing on Blood only after getting the weapon and starting to upgrade it or what?
I dont have a lot of blood at the moment, enough for the chikage and evelyn. I like to raise my vit and endurance before i start pumping the damage stats. My friend did the same and says the extra blood really helps though.

I edited the post, unfortunately I can't ring the resonant bell. Maybe it's cause I haven't beat the boss yet?

But sure, if you can ring it, let's do it. I'll help you after.

e: summoned someone lol

e2: and he died immediately! and i died immediately! well here i am, back, ringing the beckoning bell

I'm ringing the resonant bell.

So what are thoughts on the best all-around armor (well, clothing I suppose) in the game? I've gotten several sets already, but nothing really seems to stand out as glaringly better. I like that. I just don't have the time to sit and compare all the stats. Anyone have a recommendation?

I think those "no fun" minutes are kind of essential. They build suspense with each approach. They also add extra sting to the prospect of losing. Of course we dislike them, but that's the point.

Can you name some specific bosses? It sounds like you haven't unlocked the proper shortcuts.

I still think 4-1 in Demons is one of the hardest levels in any of these games (the level, not the easy boss). The skeletons leading up to that open area can still fuck me up.

A couple questions about pvp since this is my first souls game. If I want to do pvp, what level should I aim for? Also, should I separate my first character and start another character to use for pvp? To get the proper build I want to use, it looks like at the minimum ill be level 126 (I put too much points into skill and won't need them).

I must say how much I love all of the hidden areas in this game. Dark Souls had the shitty Ash Lake, but BB has so many fully fledged levels that some people will never see! More 'adventure" games need to take this route.

You haven't gotten to the
forbidden forest
area yet?

Once you figure out the path that also takes about a minute max.

Where can I buy sedatives? I'm out and the store in Hunter's Dream doesn't seem to sell them.

Also where do you get an Oath Memory for use at the Rune Workshop? Is that a NG+ thing?

So I am unable to find Eileen. I talked to her originally in the sewers before fighting any bosses but haven't seen her since. I have killed
Father G, BSB, Amelia
unlocked shortcuts in
Forbidden Woods and Hemwick Chanel Lane (or whatever its called)
. I went outside the front door (straight from the lamp) in the Cathedral ward
where you sent sane people for safety
and looked to the left but don't see her there (I have bought the 10k key and opened all gates, to my knowledge). I checked in front of the Grand Cathedral and also at the
Tomb of Oedon, where you fight Father G
but she isn't in any of those spots. I even went to her first location in the sewers but she isn't there either. Anyone have any ideas?

Nothing is radically better so far for me, and I think that's on purpose. There's one set that's clearly better for lightning, one that better for fire, etc. etc.

Can you join multiple covenants at the same time?
no, you can equip only one "green run" at the time.

Is it viable to go for a Vit/Dex/Blood build focused on the Chikage?
I'm not sure, I'm trying that build now with my second character and the Chikage +10 gets a lot of blood attack with bloodtinge at 50. however it does something like 200-250 damage only per hit against early game mobs, with the standard 1H attack.
you can use guns with that build though, bone marrow ash is pretty broken.
cannon + bone marrow ash is probably going to be my build for chalice dungeon bosses, my dex character is probably going to suck against those.

does anyone have an idea how blood attack stat actually works?

Found a creepy looking NPC in the forest, attacked him
instead of telling him to go to Iosefka's or Oedon.

WTF dude turned into a huge electrified werewolf. I killed him (cheesed him really) but he was tougher than almost any normal enemy.

I guess I was right to kill him?

If you send him to Ooden Chapel, he kills the old lady that you sent there earlier

She is not in my game at all either, and I'm at the end :/

Does this one feel a good bit shorter than DS1 and 2? I read up on where I'm at right now, and was surprised to find out that im actually at the very end...

Have you found all the optional bosses? Only like 7 bosses are required to beat the game, but there are like another 10 or so optional bosses. There are also 10 or so unique bosses in Chalice Dungeons. Some of the unique bosses are pretty simple, but there are some real doozies in there too.

I also think DS1 feels longer to people because they forget how much of the game they spent dying. If you played BB first, it would be Dark Souls level long.

Can someone explain the benefits of NG+ to me? I know you can encounter new types of enemies you haven't seen prior, but do you also get new loot to find so you can feel a sense of progression?

I'm mostly through it and have not seen a single new enemy. There's also *no* no loot at all. Every single item spot is the exact same with the exact items. So you get a bunch of useless low level Blood Gems and +300 echoes (which is nothing when your levels take 200k+) all over again.

The only thing NG+ does is bump up HP, Damage, and Echo drops of enemies.

it's cool that everything seems like a sidegrade and you can just play fashion souls all day. Demon's Souls seemed like it was trying to do this but then it throws Doran's armor at you which is just better than everything else. And looks hella dumb.

Bone Ash has been my go-to for a while, but I swap in good looking extra pieces that counteract its low defenses of specific types (arcane). Feels like if you're minmaxing then it's fine to make a mixed set, and it's easy to get matching armor. For example bone ash has massive fire/bolt defense but sucks against arcane. So I just swap in two high-defense pieces with good arcane resist.

I don't like the trips and it makes me un-interested in trying to master the boss battles personally. I'd rather summon help. If I had the ability to start at the boss I'd be very interested in doing it solo.

The worst one that I have come across is
Shadow of Yharnam.

Once you figure out the path that also takes about a minute max.

No it takes two minutes. I found the shortest path and I timed it.

It took me a while to figure out what the shortest way was, but the shortcuts connect and you don't have to kill anything on the way to the boss. It's not so bad

I disagree. It's way too long.

Two shortcut elevators, and then its a run along the path, run through the swamp, down the hill and you're at the boss fog.

yeah two minutes too long

Still wearing the hunter set, I found in the sewers in the beginning.
Everything else I got, I compared the stats, nothing convinced me, so I sold everything.

Did you go get Arianna in the Cathedral Ward and tell her about the Church? (Shes in a door you can talk to at the end of a path past the door which you can unlock using a item bought in the Hunters Dream)

The run from chapel lamp to
One Reborn
is pretty long and it's difficult to not take damage. I'm not 100% sure if there's a lamp closer to the fog door, though.

The resistances don't seem to do shit. Armor here seems to me as useless as it was in Demons Souls.

She
shows up at the Grand Cathedral in my game. The only time I meet her before was at the very beginning of the game. At this point I was very late in the end and I have no idea what triggered it. She tried to kill me right away.

I almost died from a fat man's rolling body attack. Decided to do Chalice Dungeon at least once a day from there on.

There are some different enemy placements and changes in the layouts.
For example, at Hemwick, those witches that the boss spawns as add ons appear in the area before you even get to the boss.

Not for me. I did not run into those. Enemy placement was identical.

Yep, she is in the
church
currently.

Its takes no more than 40seconds to get to a boss once youve attempted it once. Unless you aint opening shortcuts or tryna beat every enemy.

i cant speak for everyone but summoning is one of the worst ways to beat a boss tbh. Its so anti-climactic no where near as satisfying as beating a boss on your own. It sounds more like your playing the game for the sake of beating it instead of having fun and taking it at your own pace and
