Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Chief is no doubt the greatest warrior in UNSC history for his achievements and accomplishments

but can he hang with Locke in battle will be interesting

Locke has both ONI training and Spartan Training..Chief has only Spartan Training

Which is nice to hear. But, I'm still not a fan of sprint nor will I ever be. It just doesn't work in Halo in my opinion. Halo is best played as a medium paced arena shooter.

I used to be a classic style advocate until Halo 4 spoiled me so badly that I can't get used to how slow everything else is without it. Sprint is so clutch.

The Theory about Locke lying to ONI that he bested the Chief, while in reality Chief beat him and spared his life was mentioned in this thread a couple pages ago

do you think that might be the catalyst of Locke joining Chief's side...seeing Chief spared his life

So far the Chief is immune to the Composer transformation, that is all we know; he might have gained other abilities though.

My guess is that this is a key element to why the Chief is again the key to safe the galaxy. His changed genetic abilities made him immune to something (bioweapon?) that is killing the outer colonies.

"Reclaimer, the genesong I placed within you contains many gifts, including an immunity to the Composer, but it must be unlocked."

He has superpowers to unlock confirmed.

I just imagine the first SSJ tranformation of Goku with the Master Chief.

This sounds like the new thread in H5 could be more Forerunner than Promethean:
These days Halo is an expanded universe, bigger than ever before and with more characters than ever before. For example, with Halo 4 343 introduced a new enemy class to the series, the Prometheans, which are linked to the mysterious Forerunners.

"We decided to do a little bit more detail on the Forerunners," Ross explained. "We wanted to bring a new enemy class into Halo, so we spent a lot more time mapping out exactly what that culture. It does play a big role in Halo 5 and beyond.

How old is Chief in Halo 5...do we know what year it takes place?

If the Hunt the Truth podcast episodes take place directly before the game, then the Master Chief is 47 years old. The podcasts are from 2558 (6 years after the events in New Mombasa in 2552) and Chief was born in early 2511. But he is not a typical 47 year old due to genetics, augmentation, and cryo sleep. And the manipulation by the Librarian may have helped him out too.

His DNA is what you might call "mildly bananas"

I'm getting pretty hyped about the H5 campaign. I know that multi is what will keep the game viable if it is a success, but man…

The way those two new live action ads dealt with the story, the new podcasts, the ton of new written fiction. The lore is getting so much love, but it is all game focused or game supporting.

My hope is that 343 is going to take a monster swing at what I think of as Campaign Evolved, and create the sort of next gen adventure that few franchises besides Halo could really deliver!

I know that pastebin leak was fake, but as a thought exercise, it had some really attractive notions on what a next gen Halo campaign might look like.

I'd honestly love to play as Locke in a part in the game where you confront chief for the first time and get your ass kicked. An unwinnable fight, to give you perspective of just how badass you are when you're chief.

So I heard something about Locke being the main character in Nightfall? These trailers kind of have me curious, is Nightfall even worth watching to gain any insight into all this?

I can't say that I've heard good things about it.

I voted for Locke, because I want to know more about him. I already know everything about Chief.

but do we?

There's so much left to discover with MC. We honestly didn't truly get to start knowing him until Halo 4 (the books, too, but as far as the main line of games are concerned).

It's enjoyable, especially the additional content you can unlock as you watch. It's not some unbelievably amazing thing that you must see ASAP, but it's not the horrible awful omg343sucks debacle that GAF may present it to be.

Everything is italicized. Hard to see, but I'm aware that we don't know nearly everything. :P

I don't know, I find Locke pretty interesting so far. These live action trailer changed my point of view completely.

Wonder if there is any chance of the Chief eventually getting Forerunner type armor and going full "Samus Aran" on mother fuckers.

Would cause an issue with control schemes. Plus he's already loaded to the gills with abilities.

I guess, but it just seems like the next logical step for him at this point. Also Locke's armor looks amazing in live action. I like it a lot more than i did when i first saw it.
