Leak Reveals New Details on Halo Combat Evolved Remake: Hybrid Unreal Engine 5 and Blam Engine, Sprint Mechanic, Co-Dev Studio, and More

Bungie and 343i deviated by breaking previously established rules.

adding armor abilities broke the equal starts.
Halo 4 broke EVERYTHING.

Halo 5 had the most awful clunky controls. broke omnidirectionality with sprint and clamber. broke lowering your weapon rule with sprint, clamber and Thrusters.
and it had ADS for no reason.

Infinite also violated the lowering weapons and omnidirectionality.

Halo feels unique and different due to the fact that your weapon is always ready and due to the fact that it's completely irrelevant where you look towards, you can still perform every jump, trick jump and evasive manoeuvres.
it makes the way you engage on combat completely different to other games, and it feels unique.

they literally never made a Halo game since 2007 that adhered to these rules set by the original trilogy
Well said. It's that classic arena shooter dna. MS can keep trying and breaking these rules, and the franchise will keep bombing.

the idea that they need clamber and sprint when the biggest esports shooter on the planet plays almost exactly like it did in the 90s.
No guys. The problem with halo is that they are making mediocre games with no identity of its own.

I like Halo as much as the next man but I just don't think there is a big space for that type of slow TTK gameplay in todays market.

You make a Halo pvp game that plays exactly like the OG trilogy and watch it bomb.

like I said, it doesn't have to play like the original trilogy.

especially the aim feel desperately needs to change, the Halo games have some of the worst analog aiming in the industry these days, only Destiny 2 is worse (both are based on Halo 2's reaction curve and acceleration, but Destiny 2 has less options)

no one asked for this just put out the mcc and infinite on PS5 and 5 on pc and ps5 and then make a new one.
I think its more of a quick turn around project to get them upto speed and see if UE5 can work for Halo.

Seen as half the studio got fired and looking what happened with Perfect Dark I think this way might be for the best.

I know sony gets flack for it's remakes and remasters. But boy does MS love repeatly remaking the same game.

How any versions of gears of war 1 we have now?

Halo CE already got a semi remake. It wasn't just an up ressed remaster.

for all intents and purposes it was an upressed remaster, given how bad the new graphics look, and since every fan just plays with the old graphics setting.

I disagree. Infinite's multiplayer - in terms of gameplay - was pretty fucking solid. The net code straight up didn't work, but the moment-to-moment was there. When Infinite landed, it landed with a bang - because people wanted Halo back. And there were enough of us that, initially, Halo Infinite looked like it was off to a strong start. 343i's fuckery - challenge-based progression, armour cores, lack of meta progression systems, minimal maps, glacial patch speed - killed it before it had a chance, but for one glorious weekend, Halo was back. I think a solid Halo game without the fuckery could carve out a good basis for itself.
