Dead or Alive 5 Last Round PC Information is Finally out

Yeah, SSAA is indeed expensive on PC but the console versions have no AA whatsoever, I believe SMAA 1TX would have made this game look pretty jaggy free on consoles in the vein of RYSE on the xbone.

I don't know anything about AA on consoles, so I have no idea how much resources that particular AA implementation would have taken away, but I agree that SOME form of AA would have been great. All those bells and whistles added to the port wasted because the atrocious IQ makes the whole image look like shit anyways.
 
Okay I'm stupid. The default GeDaSoTo file had 3200x1200 in it for render res. :P I can now downsample from 4k with it.
 
Just ran through 2 matches, solid 60 at 1080P with everything maxed (sans 4K because I ain't got no super computer)

i3-3220 @ 3.30GHz
GTX 570
8gb of ram

With all the drama leading up to the release, this seems to be a solid port so far. TK probably could have allieviated a lot of complaints just by....actually communicating with the PC audience. I'm using my PS3 controller through Better DS3 and its working well for me.

so what are we missing here? the "particle" effects? this gen is all bout them particles, textures suck ass still.

We are supposed to get the ps3 version?


looking at this video that compares ps3 vs ps4, besides particles i really dont see the difference. Hell, ill go as far as to say ps3 looks better if it werent for resolution, which the pc version solves. So yes, the port is missing stuff, but it runs flawlessly and its pretty. thats all i ask for and i got it.
 
Just played for around 4h and yeah, the port runs well and besides missing features I found few problems. Although in story mode the game crashed one time whilst saving and I was afraid my save would be corrupted, but it turned out fine. Just relaunched the game and continued as if nothing happened.

I hope they get around to patching in the missing stages since it's pretty shitty to exclude them. I also checked out some comparisons of whatever new breast physics the console versions have (don't judge) and it just seems more ridiculous so I can do without those.

So overall I'm satisfied with the port.
 
If you're using an Xbox controller and have problems, try this

Disable HID Game Controller

1. Plug in your controller.
2. Make sure the game isn't running.
3. Open the Device Manager.
4. Under Human Interface Devices disable HID-compliant game controller.
5. Run the game.

That's actually a dark souls fix, but it might help.

What you're disabling is the Dinput part of the Xbox controller.

I have to say, I actually prefer the PS3/PC versions with the lack of particle effects. I'm really not a fan of the weird sparks flying all over the place thing next gen fighters seem to be adding, as you say bar those i can't spot a difference really (i was expecting much more of a difference) - I may pick this up once the price drops a bit.

The PS4/Xbone versions of the game has a unlock code you can put in to unlock everything other than Raidou and Honoka costumes but I guess they decided to leave it out for the PC release. I'm assuming Tecmo aren't going to be patching/updating the PC version at all so hopefully someone creates an unlocker.

It was patched in after people had problems importing their saves from last gen.

Well, they have to update the game at least once (unless they just decide to bail out on the online play completely). I would like to see some post-release support to clean the port up but I'm not holding my breath.
 
This is an absolutely beautiful version of the game. Flawless performance for me at 4K with 4xSSAA and Shadows maxed.

So crisp and clean. Now, if some beautiful people with the right talents were to texture mod the areans and some of the clothing with higher res versions, and if it were possible to cap the framerate of the menus/intros/outros at 60fps instead of 30fps then we'd really have it all. :P

And mods for other things like getting 1440p to work(since it's my native res).
 
If you have one: Turbo mode on the Arcade Stick.

That wouldn't help since you need to beat one of each difficulty on the various modes (Arcade, Time Attack?, Survival) to get ONE outfit for each character.

Well, Tag team divides that by two.

But yeah, I had tubro mode X button on and did the entirety of the arcade mode in tag and did something else while it was happening. Only came back to change characters and repeat.
 
Survival Tag is quicker actually.



The game looks pretty good, runs well and Im messing around with ReShade.


The colors pop more without being too extreme.

Have you a micro freezing when you use ReShade ?

With ReShade it is, but whitout (ex : SweetFX 1.5) it's run properly..

It starts adding up when you have to beat 10/20/30/40/50/60/70/80/90/100 tag people in a row in survival's increasing difficulties. Throw in Arcade where it's 8 stages 2 round wins and it eats a lot of time just for default outfit unlocks. Insanity.

Did they change this from DOA5 and 5+? Because even in Ultimate last I checked you needed to beat a different difficulty each time to unlock one new outfit, which was just insane.

At least they got the message that people didn't want to play on the hardest difficulty mode to get Lisa/Tina/Christie's G-strings like they wanted you to do in DOA5's base release. Eesh.

They changed it in one of the later 5U patches, so now you can just grind rookie tag survival.

They really should just unlock everything by default like you can with the console versions now, because even unlocking stuff even with the easier requirements is really annoying.
 
Unlocks held behind annoying grindfests will never be forgiven. I'm sure there are "avenues" that will address that problem, if you get my drift.

In ultimate all you had to do was win fights. I remember in Vanilla 5 you had to beat difficulty modes yeah. They changed that.
 
Oh my, it looks so crisp and no jaggies!. 1080p with 4xSSAA. Locked 60 in combat.

I set "Force Alternate Frame Rendering 2" in the control panel for SLI to work. No issues so far.
 
Got this working with GeDoSaTo for 4k downsampling, borderless fullscreen works as well
No drop in performance, full 60fps
Only downside is the rendering gets buggy in the main menu, UI gets artifact-y

Considering we're on PC you can probably just wait a little while for people to discover how to mod the save files or unlock them via cheat engine or something if you really don't want to unlock them. Sure, it's "cheating", but only for cosmetics. Otherwise just play the game, lol.
