Hey, I've been mostly avoiding the OT until I finish the game (it also moves way too fast) but I wanna ask something.
I'm really worried I'm going to walk into the final boss room without realizing like I have in pretty much every other Souls game. Will I know it when I see it? When I've defeated, will it go into new game plus immediately, like in Dark Souls 1, or can I choose to go into new game plus later, like in Dark Souls 2?

Huh, sounds like I ought to head to Old Yarnham first then. I got to the OY door and then decided to go back up and use the 10k key instead. I've been messing around up there for an hour or so, but perhaps I'll head back down and see the sights of OY instead.
It should be very obvious. When I first saw it I immediately thought "Yep, that's the way to the final boss"

Ran into BSB last night and got him down to a sliver of health before I died. Didn't even realize I got poisoned. Tried a couple more times and never was able to do nearly as well. Overall I don't see him as a problem and should be able to get him taken out without any issues.
At this point I don't know where else to go. Do I need to take out the gunner??

Yes, NG+ right after you beat the boss.
But i can give you a hint:
If the doll asks you to do something, just don't.
Im at BSB but still no option to buy Great Sword
You can't get the badge until after you beat that boss.

No also Gunnar can be a friend if you didn't fuck up and just went into Old Yharnam and attacked him. You need the key from the hunters dream and open the gate near the giant at the Cathedral Ward lamp.
After
BSB you should be looking at getting to the cathedral area (with the big gate that requires an emblem which can be bought for 10,000 souls) . Therein lies the 4th boss. Your'e done with Old Yharnam for now (after you dispatch BSB).

I found lots of enemies weak to fire, but to electricity ? Are there any ? How to spot them ? (Enemies weak to fire tends to back down from me when I'm weidling the torch)

Don't go to old yarnham. Buy the cathedral gate key from the dream first, then go to
blood healing church, also you must have defeated darkbeast paarl
Thanks, I think I'll put 16 into strength & 12 into skill & dump the rest into arcane.
seriously? no wonder no one got this during first playthrough.
Huh? I tried exactly that back then and he still attacked me. On another run I killed the Paarl first and he loved me suddenly.
Couple of hints:
- once you get used to his attack movements and projections, you can very easily get him down to 1/3 health by countering all of his attacks and dodging a lot
- watch for attack, counter, hold R2 for strong attack, repeat, profit
- (especially get used to dodging to one side whenever he makes a side-step himself. He very often makes a short dodge step then fires his shotgun)
- his third form is where shit gets fucked. He morphs at 1/3 health. I never had any trouble getting him to this stage, but he killed me quickly during three attempts at this point. However, afaik, hold-R2 strong attack staggers him slightly. Time it so that you can strike him when he's making an attack lunge, then dodge a lot and heal. Repeat. His health actually goes down quick when you hit him with this charged heavy attack.
One of my friends only beat him after 11 tries... But still beat him and felt good about it. And this guy is a seasoned Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 player. You're fine! Keep trying!

I also got the weapon with level 40 just to kill people easier in the early levels.
Every map that has bell maids from the begining will summon invaders. If you try to coop you summon one bell maid yourself and invaders have the chance to invade you there

There are certain areas
where you get a message saying "A sinister bell is ringing" and until you find the bell ringer you can be invaded.
Regarding the final boss,
most of the ones I've watched parried him to death without much of an issue which is too bad. I found it too difficult to parry all but a couple of his scythe attacks and it resulted in an incredibly epic fight, probably my favourite in the game. Shame that people who are good at the game probably won't experience that.
