Do the chalice dungeons go up in difficulty (normal/random) when you go NG+? Those are the only things left for me before going to the final boss.
No they have their own scaling regardless of your progress in the main game (so their difficult is the same if you are NG or NG++++++).

I'm wrecking shit in the first chalice level. Started playing the dungeon too late I guess.

Oh don't worry they ramp up quick.

Also an addendum to Zangba's chalice dungeon guide:

I tried to use a chalice glyph but it says I don't meet the requirements, what do? You need to create and finish the dungeon type you are searching for first before you can join another. I don't think you need to finish Root dungeons to join random ones.

All you need to do is create a dungeon of that 'type' and you're able to freely create new ones out of other players' glyph codes. For example I made a Sinister Lower Hintertomb chalice, but I never set foot in there. I entered a glyph for that dungeon type (had an uncanny stake driver) and it created it for free. I don't know what happens if you delete the 'original' though.

Everything I've read says nothing resets or changes in Chalice Dungeons when you hit NG+ and on.

Anyone know the best way to farm
blood rocks
in Chalice Dungeons? Any specific areas or depths to visit?

Here's how you get through this area:
Run through the first group of enemies down the stairs and go right. In the next area fall off the staircase and continue running past the enemies. Go over the bridge on your right. Turn right when coming off the bridge and go down the small staircase. Immediately to your right is a ledge you can drop down. Go in there and kill the woman ringing the bell (also drop down and pick up item from inside the cage). Now go back out and run back to the area where you dropped from the ledge. You should now be able to kill all the enemies and they won't respawn. You can take your time now. After everything is dead, there will be one guy left throwing molotovs at you near the laser. Pay attention to the fact that he isn't getting killed by the laser ;-)

THANK YOU, this area sucks.

+5 Saw Cleaver. What do you mean by scaling? I just beat the 4th boss btw, Amelia Vicar.

If you checked the weapon icons at the lower right, there is an indication to the scaling like D,C,B,A,S as it corresponds with the attributes you have increased, Ex, if they show the strength icon has an C and the skill icon has E in scaling, you would benefit from more damage when you increase strength instead of skill

Guys I'm really worried about my characters build, I feel I'm under leveled/screwed something up. This is my first "souls" game.

Vitality- 30
Endurance- 27
Strength-17
Skill-10
Bloodstinge-7
Arcane-7

I'm at level 48, use a +5 saw cleaver as my main weapon if that helps. By the way, what is the level cap of the game?

I think the level cap is like 544. Each stat can go to 99 and then a level 10 has like 60 in base stats. 99x6 -50 = 544.

And you haven't screwed anything up at all. There's no "wasted" stats in this game besides taking something past 50 (or Endurance past 40) before putting exp into something more useful. Eventually you'll want 50 Vitality, 40 Endurance, and 50 in whatever stats you use for ATK. Every weapon except 2 (Blade of Mercy and Logarius' Wheel) also use Strength *and* Skill for their ATK. Some just lean more one way or the other, but both are worth raising for every weapon eventually.

Currently I'm level 200 with 50/40/45/50/25/40. 40 more levels to go, woo.

oh, lower right shows the letter grade for scaling. basically, if you pump more points into STR or SKILL etc, you'll get bonus dmg. the +numbers next to the normal attack dmg. it's a huge increase in this game.

Thank! I'll start giving more points to both Strength and Skill. It is getting kind of tough though. Like +9k per upgrade. I'll start playing more coop it gives huge boosts on the echoes.

I'll check what is my scaling and report back.

Question: I rang the bell last night and two other players joined (within minutes, the best connection I've had all game btw) that I assume were a higher level. We lost to the boss
VIcar Amelia
and I had to start over and try to get back into another coop...never worked. Is it common for 3 on 1 to lose or did we just suck that bad? Also, does the game balance to make the boss a little harder when put against coop players?

23 hours and 47 minutes.

Only 3 bosses down. Tell me I'm not alone :(

I don't get what's bad about this? You're enjoying the game exploring everything right? Ok then. I'm at 15 hours and only beat 2 bosses. I'll probably be around the same hours as you by the time i get to the next one.

Thanks for these. Spoiler is about the first boss you have listed.
I'm still wondering what the heck they were thinking in that Micolash fight. Micolash's boss theme is honestly one of my favorite in the game, and it annoyed me a bit that a track like that was wasted... on that. Running around the arena nonstop having to chase him just to get a single hit in for the whole fight made it tedious, and he barely even attacks and had like 1 move. I'm wondering if my game was bugged or something during that fight, just seems weird. I did beat Ebrietas though during the same period of play and she had all her moves so I don't think it was the glitch where after waking up from rest bosses only use 1 move.

He doesn't have all that many moves, but he does have a few. The tentacle attack, melee strikes, and a massive AoE scatter spell that just about one shots you are what I mainly saw.

I think there's more to the boss pattern glitch than just playtime, I've been talking to my friend got the game saturday and is nearing endgame content and it has seemed like every other boss has been glitched for him.

Did that once on
Logarius. Did his three swing attack with the scythe right as I ran up. Smack smack smack, dead.

Exactly who this guy died to.

They scale the HP, don't think much else. She's a joke in coop..... uhh so sorry ?

I think my time is similar, but I've done four bosses (two with help) plus one Chalice boss. The thing is it's so much fun exploring and the big, slow guys in Cathedral Ward give so many Echoes it's easy to just wander around for hours looking for anything you missed and farming.

Last night I discovered the route to the Forgotten Woods probably 10 hours after I could have because the first time I went that way I got my brain sucked out. It was just before midnight and I thought, nope, I'm going back to the lantern. But it was really cool for it to find a hole new area when I wasn't expecting it.

So long as you're having fun, don't worry about it.

the only disapointing thins in chalice dungeons so far is that I wont be leveling up from them any time soon, you get fuck all blood echoes (for my lvl of course)

Hooooooooooooooly shit at Cannon+6 with 20 Bloodtinge. 3 shots on an endgame boss.

Holy shit.

how do you do 3 shots if it costs 10 per shot?

I certainly enjoyed
Micolash
battle, his really sinister voice with his echoes on commenting about the Great ones and foolishness of humans really gets me. Like a puppet master. I'm not so sure about your game, but he would only flee once his HP gets to half, then after that he will just lock himself in a room where you and him can go one on one.

Shouldnt take so long to get him to 30%, stay mid range from him to bait out more heavy attacks which can be punished. When he goes into final stage it takes quite a while to finish him by using the normal head strategy, but you can just attack the end of his tail till he jumps in the air and repeat.

Guess I just needed to come and vent here - beat him right after my last post.
Decided to try an aggressive strategy and went for the head every time.
The last phase turned out the easiest, since it jumped a lot and I just stood still, waited for it to land its head right next to me, and punished it. PHEW!
Thanks for the tips, though! It took me so long before because I always went for the safe distance or tail, which took a lot of time and didn't for in the last phase for me.

I think I'm right at the end of the game, because,
the gate in Hunter's Dream opened
I really want to make the most out of the game and I'm worried I'm missing some optional content, even though I feel like I've explored the world so much. Any good spoiler free guides to optional content? If not, I'll probably replay the game eventually so it's not too bad. Is there extra content in new game plus, like there was in Dark Souls 2?

It's is worth finishing all the Chalice Dungeons too? I'm not enjoying them that much, to be honest.

I'm standing outside the doors of AV and reading all your guys posts about what is coming up, I'm almost too scared to keep going lol. The game really cranks up after her, huh?

I'm 3 bosses down too. I haven't checked my play time but I imagine it's not much less than that.

When I couldn't kill Cleric and Father Gascoine after a few tries, I went out and leveled up (when a change of strat would've done the trick). Father took like 3 freakin days until I found out you could buy molly's.

Ugh both strength and skill give me D, and Bloodstinge gives me C for my gun.

What is the "Additional Rite" you can specify in the search parameters of a Chalice Dungeon?

it consumes some extra materials and makes a different harder variant of the dungeon. For example in the two I tried:

Fetid dungeon - had lots of 'powered up' enemy types. They had the red aura that's normally given by the bell ladies.

Sinister dungeon - spawns a sinister bell lady, which means you could get invaded. I went afk for 20 minutes in one and got no invaders.

Presumably you also get better rewards. I got some cool runes out of the sinister one.

That's what I thought also but the players were very aggressive and both died way before me when her health was at about 75%. It was a waste of insight on my part for that match.

Just curious what level are most players at when fighter vicara? I'm at 37 right now.

how do you do 3 shots if it costs 10 per shot?

You can get 4 off normally, 5 off with Runes.

D-Pad up = 5. So 20+5 to start, then 15+5 to 10+5 to 5+5. Add an extra if you use enough Runes to get 25+ base.

No they have their own scaling regardless of your progress in the main game (so their difficult is the same if you are NG or NG++++++).

Do the chalices you own reset like keys or are they permanent across ng+...? If the depth is the only thing determining difficulty and not NG count, then I might do the rest after finishing ng...
