Bloodborne |OT3| I Cane, I Saw, I Conqu- YOU DIED

I'm not too proud to resort to a bit cheese TBH. But I'll take all the help I can get. Hopefully this wont be patched before I meet him.

I kinda cheesed him, I would always fight him next to the door, so when he hit me I could just run away and heal. Still died about 30 times though.

Ohh,
He's using his bone. The bone is an item you can get that turns your dodges into teleports for a short time at the cost of a few bullets.

Ah ok, was occupied with surviving so i didn't get all the details :) . He's still OP :) but i'm going to take him down legit in NG+. That's on my bucket list.

Jesus this guy sounds terrifying.
Do you get more than one shot at killing him? I wouldn't mind trying to fight him fairly before I no doubt resort to cheeseing.

Probably the first time they actually give this game a fair shake. It's hard to outright dismiss something with a 93 metacritic without putting in at least some sort of effort.

Seems a rather unchairtable interpretation, the other games were also rated highly. BB is different enough from the Souls games mechanically, and certainly in terms of setting, that one could easily like one and dislike the other.

Finished the game!
Refusal ending, but I didn't have the 3 intestines or whatever. Feel like I messed up not leveling up my weapon fully because blood gem chunks may be hard to find for a bit in NG+. Ah well.

Yes, but you can only invade people trying to summon others.

I was trying to invade other people when a bell ringing woman showed up in my world and someone invaded ME. It was in an area I hadn't beaten the boss yet (
Unseen Village
) so I don't know if that had something to do with it. I haven't been invaded like that since. Maybe searching for invasions can cause you to be invaded as well. That would actually be great for PvP if it's true.

God the game has nosedived for me in the latter stages, all the areas just seem stupidly hard and I'm resorting to running past everything.

Anyone know if upgrading your gun affects it ability to counter high level foes? Or does it just scale damage?
Doesn't affect counter ability!

Seems a rather unchairtable interpretation,

It kinda is, I agree.

Hmm, while BB certainly is fresh air to the souls formula, at its core it still is pretty much a souls game. I'd argue the souls core is pretty much intact in the form of combat and exploration. I find it hard to belive that you can have fun in BB but not in DS.
I get how your enjoyment of settings may differ between the games but I'd still say those are secondary to what makes you enjoy the experience of playing.

This is probably a dumb question. I've never played Dark souls or demon souls so i don't know if i'll enjoy the type of gameplay that is in bloodborn. I wonder if there is at least a compelling story in the game? Because if there is i can still buy it and finish it for the story if i happen to dislike the gameplay.

Just wondering, don't want to play fullprice for a game and get zero out of it.

Are you sure?
My impression is that he makes a lot of little healings and one big one. He makes a gesture and glows a bit. He makes that all the time. I think this is where he heals a bit. He only throwed one numbing mist per fight at me.

I believe that animation
is applying a self buff, you can see the buff around his legs go away. I don't think it heals him. As for the mist I think he will keep throwing it at you until it hits.

This is how I fought him:
When he's slowly walking towards you you can charge up a thrust attack and safely hit him if you time it right. Once he's down to around half health he will start spamming mist at you but it's easy to avoid and leaves him open to attacks. Throw a mist back at him to avoid his heal, keep avoiding his mists, hit him into a corner and give him a full bar of stun lock every time your stamina recharges.

BSB and VA down for NG+

Was expecting to hate BSB as much as the first time i fought him but it ended up being much much easier this time around, really simple attack patterns in the end

God i almost lost 160 thousands souls yesterday, fucking pigs!

Just got the
forbidden woods
had about 37K blood echoes and lost them. That upset me, 160K though.... rage inducing.

Had to stop playing for the night, going back today and going to slaughter everything in that area. Revenge will be mine

This game is slowly becoming a bit of an obsession for me. I'm sitting here at my desk working to a tight print deadline and all I'm doing is planning my next few mini-adventures into Bloodborne.

Tonight it's
beating the 5th boss and experimenting with charms afterwards. Exploring Hypogean Gaol a bit by intentionally being snatched by bag man (and searching for Tonitrus while I'm there) before heading off into the Forbidden Woods.
What a varied game this is.

There isn't a traditional story, like say, Uncharted. Things are very subtle and hinted at by NPC comments and item descriptions. It's slightly cryptic and you have to make a bit of an effort to piece things together, which I and others enjoy doing. Bloodborne seems to be heavily inspired by the Lovecraft mythos, as well as Berserk, if you have an interest in either of those.

I'm new. I can't beat the two beast dog things on top of the bridge in the first area (after you beat the beast knocking on the door). Any help? Can I bye pass them? I'm not even close.

Just a quick question, just started playing the game and got wrecked by the big
guy with the brick bamming the gate
... When can I start uppgrading my skills?

Sounds familiar, I actually made a list of stuff i want to try/ check out tonight :D

Really? Its not really doing that much for me right now

At +8 in powered up mode mine has over 600 damage on the stat sheet, and my stats/gems aren't exactly amazing - 18 str, 12 skill, 33 arcane. The electified mode seems to scale oddly with physical attack gems, I need to do some more research but the proof is in the massive damage I'm doing. I've encountered only a couple enemies resistant to bolt damage and it's half-physical so it still at least does something to them.

The last boss I fought, I just ran up and mashed R1. It fell dead in seconds, I looked down and the damage number on its HP bar from that one combo was 4000-something. The one person who has managed to invade me had a sliver of health left from a few whacks.

The moveset is okay, it doesn't seem to stagger much and it has poop for range. You constantly need to keep it 'charged' or else it does crap damage, but there's combos to facilitate that (R1-L1). It also has pathetic durability and is risky to use as a 'main' weapon but the sheer power means I've been relying on it heavily. Personally I prefer the stake driver and ludwig's, but...well, Tonitrus R1 hits as hard as a (fire) Ludwig's R2.

If you have some molotov cocktails then you can seriously damage them without any risk to yourself. One throw should take off nearly half their health.

You can skip them. There are stairs on the left leading to a house, and past the house is a gate leading to the lamp. If you do want to fight them, you can throw a pebble at one to pull it away, then fight it 1v1.

You need to
have encountered (even if you die to it) the first boss
to upgrade your stats/weapons.

Ha. I've got a memo on my phone all set up for that. This thread is basically planning my nights for me. As soon as anyone mentions anything cool that's near enough where I am in the game it gets jotted down.

You and me both man.

To everyone else, I hate doing this because spoilers and everything. But read the following, it won't be that spoiler-ish because it lacks context. So it's ok to read.
In the Unseen Village, at the part where the giant fucked up spiders is shooting lasers at you, on that ledge there is a small gap in the fencing, drop down onto the area below. You should be able to figure out the rest.
This will give you an item that will let you access what in my opinion is the greatest stage in the entire Souls series.

Are you referring to
Upper Cathedral Ward
? Because if so, f that place.
Fighting multiple wolves at a time in pitch dark or through walls was not my cup of tea. Not to mention losing close to a dozen Insights to those soul suckers. The place itself was terrifying by its own rights which was great but man did I feel underleveled walking in there.

Here's my <3 minute Father G fight in NG+... I like to move to the stairs after he transforms for the first time. The intro of this fight was a bit sloppy since I was trying to parry him after he transformed, but I was unable to. Is it possible once he transforms to 2h?

I think that if anyone's having trouble with him, moving to the stairs alleviates the issue of getting stuck on the environment (gravestones) and makes it easier to dodge him and get behind him. If you were more patient than me, you could avoid all damage. I was pretty agressive since I was using the mace with a fast attack (and I have fat vitality), to try to take advantage of life recovery after being hit.

So I was trying to coop with someone in Yahar'gul after the
red moon event.

The person got summoned with a message saying blood wasn't compatible or something and went into my game as red phantom instead of a blue phantom. Any idea what was going on?

There's almost no chance you'll get nothing out of it. If you like good, deep and challenging games (like your avatar suggests), you'll love this thing to pieces. It's obviously not a turn based RPG but there's as much rhyme and reason to its combat. Furthermore, while it's drenched in atmosphere, the story is there merely to be sort of gleaned from the background and mostly provides some flavor for what actually is front and center: a real videogame. (which is just as it should be).

You know I just realized I haven't been invaded once yet. Invasions are still a thing right?

It will happen to you in the
Nightmares
.

If I want to complete that I make a beeline for the bell lady as soon as I spawn. Otherwise invaders will make your life hell.

Is level 60 too low for the last boss?

Nah. Just beat the last boss there, explored the extra areas, never killed the maiden, and didn't get invaded once. Maybe my level was too low.

You know I just realized I haven't been invaded once yet. Invasions are still a thing right?

They aren't a thing unless you either summon someone, get summoned by someone, go to the Nightmare Frontier, or ring a sinister bell. In all but the sisnister bell's case, you can stop invasion by killing a bell

Got invaded twice there, knocked one guy off a cliff and backed another into a corner till he died. Invasions do seem rather infrequent.

Yes, but you can only invade people trying to summon others.

Not true. I've been invaded without trying to summon anyone multiple times.

I don't think you can get invaded after you've completed that level's boss, but I'm not 100% certain on that.
