So I beat Rom.
what does the message mean ? was something like seek your nightmares. And whats up with the old dude ? Should I just continue withe the next level with the giant spiders on buildings or do something else? As far as I know I can do BBP and the nightmare section
qouting for new page.

This sucks, I killed earlier the Bell Maiden from N
ightmare Frontier
thinking she would respawn anyways, and now she doesn't. So I can't get invaded anymore.

Between this and the constant healing from invaders, PvP is fucked up. Shame because the gameplay of BB is so good for PvP.

alright, fuck the Chalice and Platinum. I think I'll just finish NG and continue in NG+. sick of avoiding ending spoilers lol

Nightmare

And that ladies and gentlemen, is a wrap on Bloodborne. Did every boss and zone, but didnt delve too deep into chalice dungeons (was kinda bored with them and knew they didnt reset if I went into ng+ anyway)

Quick thoughts: Awesome game, amazing even, with some nitpicks that keep it from being the best in the series (in my opinion of course), I would put it second only to Dark Souls, but hey, that might be Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels / Snatch syndrome (whichever people see first is usually their favorite).

Some truly odd design decisions which are actual step backs for the series:

- the healing vial system is a step back from the estus flask, especially if you are unlucky (thats a gentle way to say if youre not very good lol) to have to farm them because you ran out. Only happened to me with the last boss, and I didnt have to farm much, but it was still annoying

- the hub and especially having to go there to level or teleport to other zones is a HUGE step back and completely baffling

- the lack of builds is a big one. especially with the new soft caps, you can have 25 str and 25 skill easily, which mean hey you can just use any weapon you want. why would I make a new character if mine can use any weapon perfectly? Thats compeltely subjective and my opinion of course

- a lot of forgetable bosses, I would say at least half. In that sense it reminded me of Dark Souls 2

- its a bit shorter than the other games, but thats just splitting hairs

All the rest is near perfect. Gameplay feels super satisfying, and even tho I was always a big shield guy, I didnt miss them here (notice I dont point out lack of shields as a negative like some people). Its the first souls game I kill every boss solo, which was cool. Not cool was the fact that many of them aparently were probably bugged and nerfed, which kinda robs me of the acomplishment. Amazing zones in general, with the eception of 1, which I consider to be the worst zone in any souls game.

Great soundtrack, AMAZING sound design (those weapon impacs), gorgeous art. Is it worth it owning a PS4 for? If you are a souls fans, absolutely. Will most likely be my game of the year, and if I was reviewing it I would probably give it a 9 (with DS1 being a 9.5 or something). From has done it again (I wont even say Miyazaki because I actually like DS2, so Ill just say From)

Sigh.
Save restore killed more progress than I thought it did.
I had cleared my first layer 4 dungeon. Back at layer 3 before that boss kill.
I had killed two other bosses after unlocking a new area. Both bosses are alive and I have to clear the area again.

This sucks.

Thanks for the summary Rhaknar!

Finally killed Watchdog in Defiled Chalice after being stuck on it for a day. Now onto
Amagydala

The baiting the head attack strat works wonders.

Thanks for the summary Rhaknar!

sorry I dont think its the life altering experience you did yoshi :p

Actually reading it it looks like im bashing the game but im really not. its just easier to point out the flaws. because on what it does right its just...you know... its a souls game :P what else is there to say at this point lol

I wasn't bashing on your summary, friend :) I think those were some legit reasons for you to put in the list!

It's crazy how many unique enemies and bosses there are in the Chalice Dungeon. It feels like a game itself. Some of the enemies are really good.

I hate that I upgraded my
wheel
up to +8 so much, I could put my
burial blade
+9 right now easily if I hadnt. fuck...

That's a nice opinion you got there, your complaints are almost identical to mine. However, I do really enjoy the Chalice Dungeons. A superb game, which fell a little short in places, mainly mechanics. 2nd to Dark Souls for me as well.

forgot to mention, finished the game at lvl 91 with 45 hours played. might have to shave off 1 hour or so off that when I would walk my dogs and leave the game open, but still

thats with everything in the game done except chalice dungeons which I only did the first chalice, and not all of it

Woot! First day on the game, first time I've played this genre, and Gascoigne is DOWN!

Farming health vials was not of a pain but finally killing him? Ahhhhhh, so good.

Having high Arcane makes enemies give blood vials like they are candy. Arcane might be more useful than I first thought.

Sigh. BSB is a bitch and I don't want to summon anyone to beat it. This sucks. I only have one Fire Paper left and I don't want to waste it on a bad run.

oh I have a big question. how do weapons that scale with multiple stats work, do you need both stats at the same level or youre gimping it?

lets use
Ludwig
as an example (well, since its why I want to know anyway lol). ATM I have 26 STR and 26 SKL. if I only level one of them from now on, will I be gimping the sword?

Say I take SKL up to 30 for example, instead of going (27/27, 28/28, etc) because I want to start using the
Burial Blade
, is that fucking over my
Ludwig
?

Is there a respec option in this game?

not as far as we know

Finally beat VA - so glad when she finally went down - now fighting WoH - i have 65k echoes sitting on the floor in that room I need to get back to - got backstabbed by a smoke beast I didn't know was there.

Love this game - atmosphere is just too intense.

Do you have any pungent blood grenades? Use them, the BSB will go for them, and you can wail on it when its licking up the blood

I had a really rough time with him, didn't use any firepaper when I finally beat him...just used pretty much blunderbuss counters.

if it's for example S on SKL and C on ARC, then you need at least 45 of SKL and 25 of ARC to get its full scaling bonuses.

I mostly relied on parries for the first 2 phases, seemed pretty readable to me...and just played super safe on the last phase and kept distance only darting in abd out for a quick hit.

If you just target him and even just strafe walk left constantly the big lunging swipe will just go over your head, and the thing where he jumps at you and chews on your head will miss. Hope that helps.

I prefer the hub to Dark Souls faux open world.

That soft cap at 25 thing is such a lie, you still get plenty of extra damage off strength and skill until 50. Maybe people thinking the soft cap is 25 is the reason people barely do damage to me in pvp.

And there's pretty much the same amount of builds, they're just different. Instead of Dex-faith, strength-mag etc it's strength-arcane, dex-bloodtinge etc. Now you just can't do a straight magic build. No one complained in Dark Souls when they took out cool shit like luck builds
except me
.

Fuckers are down, at last. Tactically, the fight wasn't that difficult.
Once I'd whittled down Sword and Candle, Fireball went down quickly, even if he did have access to an underground hydra. Kept forgetting my attacks could interrupt their first phase attacks, so I just went all out assault to a more hit and run tactic.

Been spamming co-op for an hour with no success right before
Micolash
. We've tried resetting modems, ps4's, game, password, no password, etc. Very annoying. Last night we co-oped all of new game+ up til this point with a few minor issues.
