Question about chalice dungeons.

I haven't gone to NG+ yet (only
Gehrman
left), trying to finish as much as possible in the chalice dungeons first.

But if I do end up choosing to go to NG+, will my active chalices and progress within them remain in place and be accessible right at the start of NG+?

Thanks in advance!
Yes, your progress is untouched by entering ng+ and the difficultt of chalices do not increase by going into NG+. But as a warning, if you're trying to platinum the game, try getting the materials needed for the final chalice related to the gold chalice trophy before starting NG+. One of the materials required for the final chalice can't be obtained until the end of the game. I forgot about it and now have to play through most of the game again. Not too bad, but if time is important to you, just make sure you get it beforehand.

Anyone have any tips regarding
Loran Darkbeast's AOE attack? When he powers up, it will always OHKO me.

Kinda getting fed up to the point I will just deal with the final boss and be done with the game.

Weapon reinforcement bench, in the building in hunter's dream.

Go back to hunter's dream and go to the work bench in building where you fortify your weapon, there's an option to repair. I had to find out the hard way too. :)
For fucks sake lol. This is it! Haha

Glad I wasn't losing my mind. Can't believe I never went up there. I seriously just spent two hours in a total daze trying to figure out what the hell changed and why. I feel so dumb, thanks for helping me figure this out guys :P

How far are you getting?

I actually just beat it 15 minutes ago haha, thanks for the advice though. I didn't get hit at all during that attempt but it was pretty intense towards the end. Nailing those dodges when you know you'll get killed in one hit if you fail is very satisfying. I ended up going for the head until it ripped its arms off (landing a 3500 damage VA plus a free 1100 damage hammer attack when you stun it is too good to pass up on), at which point I just started attacking the arms. I didn't really want to run behind it because it makes it harder to dodge the boss's jump attacks.

Now onto the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice :D

Ludwigs Holy Blade get! I'm really liking it's moveset. But I wanted to go skill build with my character, Ludwigs seems to be built for quality builds, just by looking at the scaling at +3 (only have a few twin shards, not too far into the game)? Or is it fine woth the minimum 16 strength and more skill?

And it has some sort of Arcane scaling as well, which I have yet to put any points into because I still don't really understand the stat.

Anyone know what build would be the best for Ludwigs Holy Blade? :)

I've done that, my char is a skill one just have the minimun of 16str to use the Sword. Is perfect! Although I'm waiting to get something more skill based but so far so good.

Thanks dude, just what I wanted to hear.

I'm getting deep into
Hemwick
, just opened up a nice elevator. I love the shortcuts you find in this game.

Also, I suppose like in the Souls games, all upgrade materials will eventually be easy to come by? Except for the +10 stuff, I assume.

Thanks for the replies.

The average torch-weilding, pitchforking townfolk however are definitely taking 5-6 more hits to defeat than usual though. I'm sure I'm not imagining that. For example, the shotgun guys would take me two swings of my axe tops to defeat them. It now takes 4-5 hits. Some guys that I could one shot before take 3-4 hits to kill now. Ever since around the time I got that insight point, the enemies definitely take more hits than before. I swear.

You probably need to repair your weapon. That's why you're doing less damage. I'm sure you're weapon is broken at this point. Go to the hunters dream and go inside the house. There's a work bench where you can spend echoes to repair your weapon

Do you need to repair your weapon? If the weapon is too far gone, it's a lot harder to kill even regular enemies.
.

It gets even better scaling if you upgrade it, mine is at +8 and has B/B, I'm at 30 strength at the moment, gonna start pumping up SKL now for even more damage.

is this just the chalice itself or one of the materials needed to generate the dungeon? I think I got all of the chalices I need.

also, any point in killing NPCs before NG+?

Got attacked by two hunters near
The Church
Ive beaten the one
with lighting
the other one
with a gun
I run away from.

Is the second one though?

I'm not much more ahead than you but yes, you find lots of gems and runes that you can use.

from there I got the key for the upper cathedral ward and I haven't found a way to pass the area, but I know there is a lift not activated

ooooh, there is a lot more there. wher eyou jumped down to find that key - go back there and just continue on from there without jumping off the area. This will get you to the darkbeast as well.

Okay, is there any way to reliable bait M
artyr
L
ogariu
s into performing melee attacks again? He is solely using ranged attacks now, no matter how close to him I am.
I...yes, I do. :(

I know, I know.

Attack him while he is casting the spell and he'll be unable to use it. Then dodge back and repeat.

I seem to be having a strange problem getting hold of
a tonsil stone from NPCs. I've beaten 5 bosses so far (cleric, father G, BSB, Vicar and witch) and now I'm supposed to be able to speak to any window or door NPC to get the tonsil stone. I've watched a few videos of people getting it but when I try to speak to the same people they just moan and wail at me.

Any idea why this is happening? I'm currently ploughing through the forbidden woods. I've played for around 28 hours and I'm at level 62 if that matters.

It shouldn't be just any random NPC in that area. I thought there was only 1 particular house near the area
with the multiple dog cages
that gives that particular item.

Beat Cleric Beast first go without any pointers, newb to the Souls series so that surprised me fully!

The more I play and slowly level up... the more confident I feel, the more I know the city's layout... the more I feel like a true Hunter.....

I can see how these games can eat one's life haha :D

The only problem is when he uses the
really fast spell that shoots multiple skeleton heads over a wide spread
, since I haven't found a reliable way to dodge it if I'm too close.

I beat the game and now I am about to go into the depths of Chalice Dungeons.

I hear that there is a lot lot pain awaiting me there. Is it that hard compared to the main game?

gets harder with progression, starts off easier than the main game but ends harder than the main game.

Dammit! I don't have any red jelly to conduct the ritual!

to conduct a chalice ritual? you can get all materials for those in the earlier/easier chalice dungeons

Never realized how hard M
artyr Logarius
is for some people. Weapon choice counts a lot.
I wrecked him absolutely with the Kirkhammer. No casting for him when he's lying down after every Charge hit.

i need some advice i have all the trophies except one
where can i find this pthumerian queen and do i have to do al dungeons or just skip to a special one?

You literally have to dash at him and do a quick attack to stop him in time, then dodge back to avoid the exploding head and then run at him and attack him again. Don't wait for him to start charging before going at him, it'll be too late.

After the first third of the battle he stops with the magic attacks and fights you with his weapon.

Alfred isn't where he is supposed to be.. I talked to him about all of his dialogue and then killed VA but he isn't at the Altar to the right of Cathedral ward... help?

Ok, so Alfred just told me I need to go to the tomb below to get the password to open the gste, but Eileen told me not to go down there just yet. Am I screwing up her quest if I go there now?

I beat L
ogarius
on about my 10th try. I kind of cheated and did it co-op though, which made it way too easy.

I also headed to the U
nseen village
and fought D
arkbeast Paarl
.
Beat him on 1st try, he was very easy. I just stayed under him the whole time. Only needed to use 4 blood vials.

Unseen Village is super tense. I spent most of the time avoiding enemies and running around pointlessly. I know there is one more boss here that advances the story, but I think I am going to use the key I found to the upper cathedral and check out that place.

Look it up and says I can only get it in a chest in L
ecture Hall
, or a Lower Loran chalice. I don't remember getting any. Might have used it to make more arcane haze.

Woot. Finished the ithyl chalice. Boss wasn't that hard just gotta know the mechanics. Now to blow through the hinterlands to get lower hinterlands, then clear it for the last attire set. Then it's figuring out how to back up saves and on to ng+. The main game is amazing bit of these chalice dungeons need a bit of work imo

Btw does anyone know what the
yarnham stone
is for/does? It's a key item and given the description I think I might try taking it to
the alter of despair
and see what happens.

I'm ashamed to say that I only read your post now...right after I just beat him! I played like shit, but it worked out anyway. It felt like I was more aggressive, at least.

Thanks for the tips, y'all. My level 20 run will not be brought to an end that easily.

Am I the only one that finds the P
humerian
D
ecendent
a terrible boss? I just have 0 fun fighting him, he's just boring and annoying at the same time.

Any inkling on when the patch will be out. So tempted to add to basket now, but I know the loading screens will just annoy the crap outta me.

Alfred isn't where he is supposed to be.. I talked to him about all of his dialogue and then killed VA but he isn't at the Altar to the right of Cathedral ward... help?

go to the grand cathedral, follow the road/stairs down until you hit the big circular square with the two giants, go right, go left into a building, he should be there. (further down is a new area)

Ok, so Alfred just told me I need to go to the tomb below to get the password to open the gste, but Eileen told me not to go down there just yet. Am I screwing up her quest if I go there now?

Eileen refers to the "oedon tomb" waypoint, alfred to somewhere else. Also you SHOULD go there for Eileen's quest if you want it to continue; ignore her warnings.

Asked the same a few pages ago. No solution actually. Maybe he will appear again as soon as you receive the item you need to hand over to him.

Remember to go back to Central Yarnham and tell people about the
church
. Oh and talk to the guy by the first lantern to get a
flame sprayer
! This is probably old news but it blew my mind last night.

I had no idea that there was any reason to talk to the townspeople more than once.
Thanks, I have a mission tonight!

Got it, you can still summon folks in Chalice dungeon bosses to help you out right?

Any recommendation in regards to what level I should be before going through this?
