I beat the game and now I am about to go into the depths of Chalice Dungeons.

I hear that there is a lot lot pain awaiting me there. Is it that hard compared to the main game?

The Depth 5 Chalice Dungeons contain the hardest fights in the game.

Watch the video again, put on the subtitles.
He says in the video with the subtitles that the reason he isn't there in that scene of the video is because it's NG+ and he hasn't killed Vicar Amelia yet. You can also tell that his vitality is higher in the scene where Alfred is not there as opposed to after he finds the unopened summons.

EDIT:
It's still possible he may appear there after you get the unopened summons

if he doesn't appear Im screwed...and yeah i was at work, so couldnt listen to it

It shouldn't be just any random NPC in that area. I thought there was only 1 particular house near the area
with the multiple dog cages
that gives that particular item.

OK thanks. Glad I've not missed it then. Only just started
the forbidden forest
so I'm sure I'll come across it.

The only problem is when he uses the
really fast spell that shoots multiple skeleton heads over a wide spread
, since I haven't found a reliable way to dodge it if I'm too close.

you can actually dodge forward through them if you time it properly.

Are chalice dungeons difficulty locked?

I'm pretty sure I'm nearing end game and have yet to try a dungeon. I'd rather do it now just in case they do get harder in NG+.

This might be silly but you are taking "right" from the inside of the cathedral or from the outside? It's left from the outside, right from the inside. :P

When facing the boss door to VA, there is a path to the right that goes down. A couple of NPC hunters and then those big machete dudes. What is that?

Towards the Witches?

Oh you're right, the other path take you to the witches... ugh... I can't recall exactly where it is but it's not where you going to, I think it's south of the cathedral, there is a big square with sleeping giant guardians, there's a path somewhere around there that take you to Alfred and, therefore, the Forbidden Woods, I'm actually right there but I forgot how to get there. :P

I found Alfred near the entrance to the Forbidden woods. Said I need to go to some tomb or something to get the password

It was a dead end.
Big room with some sort of colundour. Door was locked and some portal nearly got me. Nothing else so far.

Still looking for this password.

Believe me, is not there where you must go, in that place you need a Tonsil Stone to enter a secret place. You need to go to a square with sleeping giants guardians, It's to the south of the cathedral.

Got attacked by two hunters near
The Church
Ive beaten the one
with lighting
the other one
with a gun
I run away from.

Is the second one though?

Nah, he's easy. Weak damage. A bit of a pain because it is difficult to keep the distance short. As long as you dodge a lot and either have a fast weapon or a long range one, you are fine. The one you took down is harder.

you get the password when beating V
icar
A
melia
. It's essentially the item you get for defeating her

When you killed VA, did you touch the skull? I don't know how I got the password but I think it was the cutscene that the skull triggered because it says something that I used as the password.

I went down that path and the first NPC Hunter fucked me up horribly, so I'll pass.

Maybe I was thinking of a different path.

Those NPC hunters are absolutely brutal and the path I thought we were discussing is well worth checking out

The password mentioned by Alfred? Think you may be barking up the wrong tree. Pretty sure the path to that is somewhere else.
I could be wrong, I think I'm on that path but am not certain.
If you're getting stuck with something just step away from it and explore somewhere/something else. You'll probably find what you're looking for.

Also colundour?!

Ah, well I kinda didn't want to know that. Oh well, Blood gotta Blood!

actually, a bit of misinformation. You get the password when inspecting the altar behind her :p

How many layers deep is the Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice?

I just got to a headless B
loodletting
B
east
. It seems like they put all my least favourite bosses in that dungeon so far.

Just finished the game, has never played any previous Souls game (never even played a RPG before) so i don't know how it compare. This has to be the best game i have played since The Last of Us.

Didn't do any sidequest so i don't know what kind of ending i got, but when i killed Gehrman a alien came down from the moon and hugged me and then i became the new Hunter.

that low level D:

Yeh sometime during the fight he'll buff himself and becomes immune to bullets, so he can't be parried. It usually preludes his DMC Vergil bullshit of phantom swords and melee.
(Hey, it's not like I'm doing a level 4 run!) Oh, THAT BULLSHIT ATTACK. Yeah, that brought an end to several of my runs before (since I'm so dependent on parries). My successful attempt was the only time I saw the stupid rain of swords, though.

You can still parry him after his buff, you just can't parry all his attacks. Most of the two handed ones can't be parried while his sword strikes can.

You got the "good" ending,
accepting gehrman's offer gives the
"bad" ending and doing a sidequest
the true ending (where you also fight that moon presence)
.

what good or bad is here is open for interpretation though, i think the "bad" ending was more satisfying.

Well, looks like I'm going to farm chalice dungeons until I get another red jelly. Already got one. Missed out on the 2 red jelly you get from normal game on my first playthrough.

I have to options, three, but I will let out the optional:

1. Proceed in the unseen village with all the bell women and giant spiders
or
2. Venture through the upper cathedral.

what is more recommended to do first

and how do I know if I completed a chalice dungeon ?

I killed the
firedog

upper cathedral is also optional, but is really freakin difficult. I did yahar gul
and mensis
first

What level you recommend before attempting Depth 5?

Level doesn't matter, as it's going to depend on the battles. I'm like level 120-something and the boss I talked about last page can still be able to OHKO me with its AOE attack. I kinda just gave up, beat the final boss, and am kinda done with the game now. I found it too frustrating and, pardon the word, cheap. I have no idea on how to avoid the move outside of being in out of range, but you kind of have to be in its range to even hit it. It's literally luck of positioning if I ever avoid it, if the boss pushes me behind it. Otherwise it's a lost fight the moment it sets up the move. Rolling and moving backwards does not offer you enough range in enough time to avoid it, and it's not telegraphed as slowly as any other AOE attack from a boss.

Granted, this is one boss, but I originally wanted to beat all of the premade Dungeon bosses, and this shit has absolutely soured the deal for me. :/

I'd get upper cathedral out of the way since it's optional. You can get some pretty good items there too.
