That Undead Giant in lower Pthumeru lvl 2 is so damn annoying. Almost had him twice but when he starts his flailing attacks it's over. Poison knives would help although the last regular boss I defeated was VA so it will take some time until they can be purchased. Guess I'll try again and again when I get home - after farming some blood vials, thanks to that bastard they depleted twice yesterday.

The times I tried that I'd get one-hit killed by a jumping spider. I decided to take no chances this time.

It was slower but it worked!
Ah. I made sure to always take out
the first wave of them
since R
om wouldn't attack until after it teleports the first time.

Man fuck frenzy
theres a creature in the
frontier
that you seem to just see and immediately get it
its such a cheap mechanic, makes no fucking sense

Is
Father Gascoigne
a good choice for my first takedown?
I stumbled upon him on accident
and I haven't even leveled once.

Consider beating any boss in 1-3 tries very, very good progress.

I'm pretty experienced with the Souls games, and it's taken me 2-3 goes on all bosses so far (I'm about a third into BB). I consider that good progress.

People say "git gud" but there's no right or wrong way to play the game, and no rate at which you should progress. However you do it yourself is fine.

The main thing is to be enjoying it! Everyone's game and rate of progress will be different.

Yeah, I just find it weird to die to an "easy" enemy and then turn around and ace some of the ones that are considered hard.

Then again, that has been the same in the other souls games as well. I guess the bosses just play to individual player strengths and weaknesses. :P

Yes you can, obviously.
In new game+

It's not obvious to new players.

For new players even the death/lantern/blood echo collection system aren't obvious at all

Absolutely. I found FG relatively easy and CB very easy, but I found VA pretty tough. I know a lot of people for whom it's the opposite. The combat mechanics are so deep everyone must have their own quirks and approaches :P

Nah. Explore the area more, ignoring the FG path. There are several other worthwhile avenues.

You can absolutely go for him first and probably do fine, but I think there may be a couple of key things you miss out on if you do it that way.

Before the point of no return can I still technically do everything for the Platinum (once you do the endings) or are there missable elements that need to be covered in NG+?

Guise, guise! Is it a good idea to buy Ludwigs Holy blade? I currently have the +3 axe. I feel like using a new weapon but its alot of echoes though!

Where next after Vicar Amelia? I seem to be able to go through the
password door
or down the stairs behind the cathedral, and through a cave

I feel weird guys...I keep hearing the
Witch of Hemwick
boss is so easy but I needed three tries to kill it (I was somewhere around lvl 20 at the time). Yet I got bosses like
Shadow of Yharnam
on my first try.

I'm doing something wrong. :/

I know what you mean. I could not for the life of me down
Vicar Amelia
and got frustrated and summoned someone. Then I get to
Shadows of Yharnam
and do it second or third try and then
Rom
on my third. I'm curious how the rest will go for me.

Yeah I've played a total of like 4 hours of souls series.

A lot of die hard Souls fans live in a bit of a bubble in their fandom. They're great dudes but they don't appreciate just how much the series goes against the grain! The amount of stuff to learn which is unique to the series is mind-blowing.

Regarding NG+, from what I hear it's not as much of an initial difficulty jump as it was in the earlier games in the series. Enemies become quite damage-spongy. Someone mentioned that once you get to the later bosses again in NG+ it gets batshit insane, though.

Is there anywhere to get those twin-blood shards? My Cane is +3 and I can't level it up further because I need those new ones. Still at
BSB by the way and then going past the 10K Door.

Big fan of this weapon, both forms actually. The smaller blade does quick hits, and has decent combos, and the big ass sword form is great for some serious damage. I dropped the kirkhammer completely after ludwigs blade.

I use ludwigs blade and axe as my main two weapons.

Whaat they're amazing. Always be using them in dual wield mode pretty much. And the dodge>attack is really, really strong. You can stunlock R1 spam almost all enemies to death provided you have the stamina because it attacks so fast (and speeds up after the 4th hit). It's my favorite weapon by far.

I'll have to give them another chance. The damage output just isn't what i'm use to with Ludwigs.....that's my problem I shouldn't compare them lol

Assuming you get the items necessary for the endings and weapons, there's 1 weapon only available in NG+.

A lot of enemies in the
Gaol/Prison
area drop them. If you need to get there, get grabbed/die to
one of those enemies that hold the bag and charge up after hitting them once. One of them is in a corner of the first area if you head straight out of the Cathedral (straight, not west) - it'll be in the corner in that first little area before the staircase. There's also a cool armor set in Gaol/Prison area if you leave the building you get taken to, then head down the stairs past the big pig.

I found a music box item and the description has his name on it. Perhaps this is an item I can "use" on him?

Be sneaky and try to get a visceral attack in before it has time to react. But have sedatives at the ready just in case you do get spotted. Always plan to kill the things in a couple of seconds. Frenzy sucks, but they're not very tough once you start to lay into them.

Sooo, i really want that platinum. I just need some trophies that look to be related to th3
chalice. Do i seriously have to grind for material?, These dungeons are boring. I just need a master rune and some claw weapon before i move onto new game plus and finish off the ending trophies.

Haha ok.. won't feel as pressured to finish everything before the final boss then.

Well. You keep all your items and your character progress. But technically you bump back to the start of the game progress with no lanterns or anything.

Unless I'm fully wrong, in which case someone correct me, quick

Yeah comparing single hits is misleading because Ludwig's is much slower. Ludwig's is actually my alternate weapon and between those two I feel like I've got a good weapon for any situation.

OH it's cool. He gave me a straight answer and that's all that matters. But thanks for giving me the details. I'll probably start ng+ after and see how hard it is and if it's too much I'll start a new character

So far I agree. I've even summoned a few people and we all die.

That's sort of crazy because I have been summoned in twice to fight that boss and as expected it makes it ridiculously easy. We all just stood there spamming special R2 and she can't do anything because she keeps getting staggered.

Okay, that has never happened before. The doll in the Hunter's Dream was
sleep talking or something when I walked by her (without interacting with her). She said: "O flora, of the moon, of the dream. O little ones, O fleeting will of the ancients... Let the hunter be safe, let her find comfort. And let this dream, her captor...foretell a pleasant awakening... be, one day, a fond, distant memory..." When I spoke to her, she acted as if she had drifted off into sleep
.

The Chalice stuff sucks and there's one boss trophy tied to it.
Worst part of the game in my eyes.

Co op pretty much breaks the game since you can just chain R2s and basically stunlock a lot of bosses.

Yeah she did the same for me when she was praying in front of a grave.
