The hemwick charnel lane started rough for me.
Had no issues with the witch, but getting there, those stupid hogs swarmed me once and dudes in cloaks knocked me off the fucking cliffs. Twice. Kind of felt cheap, I had a bunch of souls each time and was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooSPLAT. But I did laugh, I thought it was pretty darn funny.

Not really, most of the actual speedrunners separated themselves by whether or not they duped. The issue is going to remain in the rarity of chunks and what a pain in the ass it is to upgrade. Possibly the worst of any Souls game so far.

Double lame. The dupe glitch was one of my major motivations to start a new playthrough as soon as I finish the game since the possible build variety is so much smaller than in the Souls games, and now even that's patched out.

I was in the building where you get the
Castle Summons
and fought what looked like
a nun
. Was that who I
saved
earlier?

And did I just see an
alien
!?!

Also, when should I go to the
Castle
? I've killed five bosses and am making my way through the forest right now.

Outside of the block guy I never noticed hitboxes issues unlike DaS2 were took the hitboxes issues to another level.

there's a few option bosses that have some bullshit hitboxes and phantom range on their attacks. I took a massive hit from one boss' forward attack whilst standing metres behind it.

well, if it's anything like the past Souls games, From will eventually have the vendors sell Chunks and maybe even the Rocks via a patch. Not the first time they held back mats for upgrades and ended up getting a lot of requests/complaints about it.

Okay, how does that work exactly? I just have to make one chalice dungeon and then I'm able to use shared ones?

it has to be of that EXACT type. And it needs to be a root chalice - if it's not a 'root' then it's not randomly generated so no point in sharing it.

If you don't have that specific chalice type then keep on trucking through the ones you do have - they're usually rewards from end bosses. In some cases they're in more obscure locations, for example Sinister Hintertomb is bought for 10k echoes from a messenger bath that shows up in the dungeon.

On the bright side, once you've made the dungeon you're good to go. Don't even need to set foot in there and it doesn't cost anything to enter the one from the code you put in.

That's
Iosefka at the clinic (the woman in white). Unfortunately as you've killed her you will miss out on an umbilical cord from her. There's still 3 more to get though.

I think you're on the right track. The next boss will be
shadow of yharnam in the forgotton woods.
That's exactly where I am.

Anyone have tips on quickly killing those snake head enemies? I keep getting hit and can't avoid.

what weapon do you use ? I main the threaded cane and i do a lunging heavy attack in whip form over and over. They get stunned on impact so they can't really react to it. Takes about 4 lunges ( forward + R2 )

Charged two-handed axe attack (hold down R2) as they approach knocks them on their butt. Get space and after stamina recharges hit EM again.

edit: forgot to clarify that it was two-handed attack that knocks him down.

Shadows of Yharnam
came out of nowhere. That was really intense. All of Forbidden Woods had me really on edge and then they show up out of nowhere.

I dunno , a lot of people are sharing specific chalice dungeons to farm mats and stuff like blood rocks. I don't know how fast people get from 0 to their new build regularly right now, it seems to early to have a good idea of the route to chose for that purpose. I know most people with that attitude just mega-muled stuff before to get what they want, but that has stayed a task right now for BB.

Found E
brietas
boss.

At first I was like "Oh, this is an easy one"
then frenzy and one-shot lasers came into play lol
.

I think I only have this and the
Nurse thingy
boss before finishing the game.

Some poor soul who invaded me just wasted a bunch of numbing mist and got rekt in 3 attacks. Im sorry guy whoever you were.

I just beat VA and was going through the woods with 70k blood echoes on me... pure dread. Almost never feel like that in a game, it was kinda awesome; I had to play really cautiously. The feeling when I saw the lamp was magical.

Is there a checklist of things I should do before I kill
Rom?

Not necessarily since you can go back and do everything aside from sidequests (and you could have already missed those? I'm not entirely sure to be honest). I do think it's important to do Witch of Hemwick before then simply because you want to have runes. Other than that, you can go kill it now and go back to any zones you missed.

I just got to the second area (with those witches) but I'm thinking about restarting. I'm like level 40+ and new enemies seem too easy. Plus I wasted a bunch of insight on stupid costumes. I feel like I might be missing out on some cool stuff.
I want to see how far I can get low level too.
I wished there was a way to store echos for later, I would even give up half of them to do it.

Question about the final area:

So I dropped into that spot from the top elevator into the wall that leads into those singing frenzy ass hats. I rolled through, got a few goodies, and during it I had pulled a lever that dropped some giant ...thing.

I assume it's an extra boss. Where do I go to fight this thing? Also, I went through this whole area and I thought Mergo's Workshop was supposed to be at the end of all these frenzy guys and spiders, but there wasn't a workshop? Did I mess something up or miss something?

Anyone who can help ASAP is appreciated.

Looking to get help with
Ebrietas
, it's getting to the point where it's making me not want to play anymore and I've never felt that way before with a Souls game.

I'm Lv 73 at the moment.

lol at the Unseen Village boss. He slaughtered me three times yesterday; wrecked him on my first attempt today.

I played much more cautiously today, but stuck close to his sides at all times after disposing of the bell witches on the walls. What do they even do?

Okay cool, thanks. I just didn't want to miss any
umbilical cords
. So far, I've
gotten one cord from the abandoned workshop, I've killed the hunter in Tomb of Oedon, and I've sent all NPCs that I've found (the whore, the church lady, and the old woman) to the church, and the crazy dude from the forest to Ioefskas clinic.
Are there any glaring things I'm missing that I should do before progressing? I've heard that some ending conditions could be ruined by doing it too soon.
Also, should I give the red necklace to the little girl? I've heard she kills herself :(

I am
Edit: we may have to restart at the checkpoint. Sorry man never used this shortcut before

Thanks a lot for helping me!! =D
The shortcut is pretty damn good, but its tricky indeed!

Ps.: Look at size of this fail!! I could not stop laughing!

I don't know what they do because I mashed him to death before he even did anything. I think he's this game's Pinwheel.

Should have captured where we both just suicide down it one after another
Edit: what area you playing next. I would like to tag along

lol at Rom in that tiny room. Almost got it but then it casts the hot rocks back to back about 7 or 8 times. Run in it does short range, get out of range it does long range, I go back to navigating spiders it goes back to short range. I almost prefer the DS2 spider fight and that was terrible.

fuck, can I still save my clips from last night? I turned it off after I got the True Ending. I hope so, want to have an archive of my final boss fight, lol

They cast strong magic at you.

Toughest boss in the game for me. Finally, I got it just below 50% and then unloaded with three Cannon shots w/ the gunpowder buff. It felt cheap but was VERY effective lol.

I'm not sure where to go now. I have killed the following bosses:

Cleric Best
Father G
Vicar Amelia
Witches of Hemrich
Blood Starved Beast

I've got the following lamps unlocked:

Yarnham headstone:
Sickroom
Central Yarnham
Great Bridge
Tomb of Odeon
Cathedral Ward
Grand Cwthedral
Old Yarnham
Church of Good Chalice

Frontier headstone:
Hemwick charnel lane
Witch's abode

No idea where to go now. Halp?

The only sidequest I did was for Eileen the Crow so I don't really have advice for that. If you want a cord though, after you kill Rom return to the clinic through the shortcut in the Forbidden Woods and you can kill Iosefka (or however you spell her name) for one. Otherwise, you can get one from the whore near the end of the game, so if you want to get the True Ending you're definitely on the correct path.
