The key is in the
unseen village. You have to drop down from above inside the small cage/prison where t he red troll (and wheelchair-guy) is guarding.
That was a really awesome thing to happen. I had just skipped past it a couple times already, going both ways for whatever reasons, when I finally hit the spot and heard the noise. I was startled and just rolled forward since the it seemed there was nothing there to stop me and the thing just wooshed over my head.
Rolled a few more times to create space and turned around and then realized what the contraption actually was. KeanuReevesWhoa.jpg moment right there.

i started one. around level 30. going to use ludwig's. it won't be near as strong as str/skill scaling but trying something different.

I'd recommend you put on multiple HP runes if you aren't already. I was able to barely survive a charge if I got hit, where it was an instantkill before.
Otherwise it's just a very, very slow fight. Some key stuff to look for:
The bite attack was a big one, but I only hit when he did the one to the left. Right was awkward and he followed it up a lot. Later in the fight he follows up with 1 or 2 more additional bites but I couldn't figure out the tell and would usually not attack if uncertain, the fourth lunge bite was punishable though.

A lot of it was to avoid the charge since if you overcommit that could come out, so it ends up being a long fight you need to be really careful with.

Here's my video of it, though I used the axe. I'd imagine the same principle applies.

If you haven't bought the key from the bath merchants to break the sequence, the only way forward is in that same area, but down. After the pathway to the building itself, go right. The walkway is cracked and you can drop one level down. From there... well, you'll see.
You can reach two separate areas, one of which gets you forward. The other one is a small dead end area that nets you some cools stuff. It is the original version of the hub area.

There's an arcane haze extractor so you can make your own in the chalice. I'm not sure if it's a random drop or not though, I can't remember where I got mine.

I found mine in Layer 2 of a Lower Pthumeru Dungeon (not root). It was a Depth 3.

from the big round place, with the 2 huge dudes, one way leads to a door, that needs a password.

Any idea why I cant initiate coop with a friend of mine? We are both in the same chalice dungeon, within level range (71 and 85), and network set to worldwide. We can see eachother's 'spectres', but when we ring the resonant bells we dont get matched up with eachother, it just keeps searching. We waited for a couple of minutes but nothing happened. Any idea what's going on?
This happened to me last night, I jumped a mile. Trap missed me. GF thought it was the funniest thing
For me its the best weapon in the game so I would say yes.

Question about Red Messenger Ribbon:
I'm assuming there is nothing for me to do but actually do the quest in a new game...right?
I'm so devastated now
I just messed up the side-quest....right? I stupidly gave the ribbon to the stump messengers instead of keeping it and waiting until the little girl's sister shows up.

Both of you close out the game completely and restart it. Set the password to a random number instead of a word.

I finally beat him today. Just go after him 1 hit at a time after you take a third of his health. For the first third you can 2 2H his front legs then go for 3 more while he's stunned.
