Taking down those 3 hunters in
Hidden Village
felt good. If they are too hard for anyone a good way to cheese them is to
Slowly walk down to where your prison cell was when you were abducted by the Santas and kill the wolf thing down there. Make sure the door to your cell is open then walk up behind the one hunter on the stairs. Throw rock at him and beat feet down to cell and lock your self inside. All 3 hunters will agro. PRO TIP. Then can reach pretty far in the cell to stand back and keep concrete pillar between you and them. Use thrust and reap rewards!

Ludwig's Sword and the Axe have a C and D scaling link to Arcane, but when I'm in the level up screen and go to upgrade my Arcane stat, it doesn't seem to affect my weapon stats for either weapon. Any ideas? I've hit the soft cap for Strength, and want to focus on one of the other stats for added weapon potency now.

Does anyone happen to know if the Hunter's Torch gets any gem slots by upgrading it?

Specifically, does it get the Radial slot (the star looking one)? I'd love to pack a couple health recover bloodgems into it and switch to the weapon while exploring.

So what is the cap for pvp ? Some say lvl 100 some say 80. I think that lvl 125 which was initially considered is to high.

I'm not there yet and don't plan to PVP with my current (and only) character, but I've heard talk of 100 or 110 being the preferred levels.

If you look at the stat screen for weapons, you can see what gems slots it has (they'll be dimmed out), if any, even before upgrading them at all. I don't think either torch gets gem slots.

I'm not positive on this, but I think the arcane scaling is when you have an elemental gem stone in the weapon like fire. If you have a fire gem in it, I believe it completely ignores strength and scales off of just arcane.

I'm a STR based char, currently with 30 str (I know soft cap is 25, got it for the cannon.) Am I right in saying that I might as well pump levels into SKL now up until 25, as that seems to be giving me very very slightly more dmg than STR. Or am I missing something?

70% of people have gotten the Cleric Beast trophy. A total of 10% have gotten one of the ending trophies. :lol

Come on people! You started it, you can finish it :)

I always just assumed that was people putting off finishing (like me). I wanted to get any farming for mats done before going into NG+. Of course, with almost no item find, that was impossible and I've just moved over to NG+.

I'm loving the share button on the PS4 (new to the system). Being able to catch dumb stuff (no spoilers) is pretty great. I also just discovered that I'm an idiot and didn't know you could summon NPCs for boss fights. I should have known this from previous games, but I just didn't know how to. Father G and I ran around the first area wrecking fools, and he's got some serious anger issues. He just keeps attacking the bodies of things he's killed, and if it's a bug I think it's hilarious. I watched him just randomly bolt off in that house, make a beeline for the dude in the wheelchair with the gun, and then he wailed on him and his corpse for a solid 2 minutes. I wish I had gotten video of that.

I unfortunately wasn't able to save him from the (1st boss) C
leric
B
east
though :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB81xppu2uI&t=1m52s

Oh, and also, Father G refused to (sidequest spoilers? Kinda?)
acknowledge his daughter when I took him to the window, and also didn't react to the music box. I'm starting to think he hates his children
.

Got a chance to play more last night. I'm still in the first area but did much more exploring than I had previously done.

The problem is that I now have over 8000 blood echos (don't know if that is a lot) but I'd like to spend them before going too much further. Right now that only thing I can spend them on are more consumables. I'd like to spend them on leveling but haven't unlocked that yet.

I got a skull thing called Madman's Knowledge that will give me 1 insight. Do I use it to
unlock the ability to level my hunter
? Or will that not work and I should save it for something else?

Also, the Coldblood Dew; am I supposed to go ahead and convert them to blood echos or are they used for something else?

Sorry for the beginner questions. I've played Demon's Souls and Dark Souls but never have gotten very far in them to understand the game systems.

Damn, the Forbidden Woods goes on forever. I was hoping I would eventually unlock the short-cut near the lamp but I went into an unexpected boss fight with 100k blood and proceeded to die. lol this game

You need two shortcuts to get to that boss, it's a long way but at least to me the boss was easy.

Should work, yes. You just need to obtain 1 insight to unlock levelling, doesn't matter if you get it from an item instead of a boss room.

As for the blood echo items, you can use them if you wish, they aren't used for anything else as far as I'm aware.

Yes, use that item to get 1 insight! You can begin to level up.

And I save the Dews and the other blood items until I am ready to level up/want to buy stuff. Don't use it earlier, since if you die twice in a row without recovering your echoes, you lose them.

yes, use the MK for insight and open up leveling

yes, use the dew to get more echoes

Consume the madness item, go to dream refuge and talk to the doll to level up.

Only use coldblood dew before you're about to level in fear of losing them by dying.

I see. That makes sense. But damn, my Arcane is only 6 welp. Should I even bother levelling it up now? I really would like to use elemental weapon buffs, but not at the expense of a steep drop of in attack value.

I only finished like 80% of DS2 but I loved the early levels, the co-op, and the PvP. BB is a great single player game but the co-op and PvP is terrible compared to the other games.

Pretty much mine and my friends thoughts.

Great single player PVE game. Bad co-op and PVP game. It's actually not bad co-op if you can get things poppin. PVP on the other hand is pretty bad.

I am quoting and replying to save this for later. Will try this tonight as well.

A couple people have answered this already re: Arcane, but just know that when you upgrade your Ludwig sword, Str becomes B and Skl becomes C (at least at +6). I'd focus some of your echoes on skill.

Only if you use molotovs and Fire/Bolt papers on a regular basis. There are some interesting items that require 15 or more Arcane and "cast magic" at the cost of bullets.

A typical experience in the Forbidden Woods

What level are people at when they finish the game? I'm in the 100s, and haven't even finished yet; just beat TOR on my first try. My son has been going on farming runs with my character; I swear he's got OCD doing it. At one point he took 800k echoes into a new area, and died lol. I was livid, but he was able to get it back. I've been running the Chalice dungeons like crazy; it's like I'll never see the end game, there's so many distractions lol.

I finished off at Level 89, but I didnt do any chalice stuff, just main game and optional main game. Just killed Rom on New Game Plus and currently sitting at Level 123

I dont get this whole chalice thing, i reached pthumerian labyrinth layer 3 but now there aint nowhere to go but there should be layer 5 and i should find other chalice for it? Do i need to beat every lyer again to reach it with different chalice?

Badly need some tips for the mansion full of
FUCKING HIDEOUS SPIDERS
that drop from the ceiling. Should I be fighting them? They absolutely slaughter me

If people can beat the first and second bosses then they can beat the game.

Skip them, run past the hunter, go down some steps, turn right and get on elevator to light lantern. Now you can sneak up on the hunter for a visceral attack. You can cheese the spiders (fight little ones in doorway imo), too much to fight all of them at one time.

Forbidden woods was fucking awful. Such terrible design and it will be a major reason I won't do NG+. I just beat the shadow boss but that took me way too long to get everything and I just gated the design.

So, I never encountered E
ileen
the C
row
in my game, and have no idea where I might go to find her now? I think I'm very close to the end of the game
Hunter's Dream is burning, Doll is telling me to find someone at the great tree
. Looked in a few locations I heard she might be,
her starting location in the sewers, at Father Gascoigne's arena, just outside the Cathedral Ward lantern, inside Vicar Amelia's arena
, but no luck. Anything I should in particular to find her?

There are some items that allow you to cast some spell-like effects that I have leveled arcane up to get to. I feel the same way, I was looking forward to using some of the fire and lightning gems, but to me it doesn't feel worth it. I might make an arcane character next to capitalize on the spell items and use elemental buffs.

I'm in the same position as you and slightly disappointed I won't get to capitalize on elemental weapon enhancements for this playthrough. If you want bang for your buck, you gotta upgrade Skill next. I'm probably going to just ignore Arcane completely.

hehe, can't wait for you to get to another area which is worse.

Not really. Mostly a two handed strength guy. But elemental damage on weapons and the Cannon sure look enticing. Decisions decisions.

I think it's too late to encounter this character anymore.

I still don't understand the benefit of insight past 10. I have like 30 madman's knowledge now. Why would I use them? Only to summon help, or do we think there's some inherent/yet unknown benefit to having more insight?

I read the wiki and it still seems spotty, at best.

Any tips for Rom? The
spider boss in Byrgenwerth.

I've tried him about 10 times at level 60 and almost had him a few times but he just keeps spamming drop attacks on me and the
baby spiders
are overwhelming at times.

Avoid the babies, they're useless, just go right to ROM dodging the babies attacks, hit her in her body.

The babies are stupid they don't attack too much or fast so just pass through with your normal running and roll if neccesary, every 25-30% of life you took away from ROM she leaves. It was super easy for me, Do this tactic three times and she is dead.

Once you have 10 insight, you have access to a second merchant in Hunter's Dream, whose goods all cost insight.
