Bloodborne |OT3| I Cane, I Saw, I Conqu- YOU DIED

Completely random, but dodging diagonally forward feels like that one viable strategy that so many people dont use in the fights that it is viable for fear of dying.

That's the correct way to dodge most attacks in Souls games. Dodging toward the direction of the attack is super important especially in DSII if you have low Adaptability.

What are the agreed softcaps for the stats in Bloodborne?

Like in Dark Souls it's generally agreed that anything after 40 has too much diminishing returns to make it worth while.

What's the deal with that hunter with an electric weapon that's in that area to the right of the boss door for
vicar
? I haven't done that boss yet and was just exploring around and ran into that hunter. I booked it as soon as I realized what it was. Drop anything good?
He drops
bolt paper, so you can have your own cool lightning weapon*

He also has a friend that you should try to avoid so you don't have to fight two at once

*while supplies last

Ah okay thanks! They seemed intimidating to me at the moment so I fled like a little baby. No special drops :(
I was hoping for an electric weapon or something
.

Yea, they're high level enemies for low level people exploring the game. That area felt like a troll cuz they drop shit and the NPC doors do nothing but scream.

Screw spider enemies, the really giant sized one freaked me out, had no problem with the more normal sized ones.

What's a good level for new game plus? I've been farming for blood chunks to get various weapons to at least +8 to +9 range so they won't be useless in New game+, but I've also been leveling to keep the echoes from going to waste. Probably will be way overleveled for the final boss in normal mode (I'm in low 80s).

Still have 1 secret boss left, but getting one shotted is quite annoying...

Chalice dungeon is good. So is
Lecture Building
NG+, but seeing as you want to be leveled going into it, high depth chalice is the way to go?

FFFUUUUCK I think I fucked up. I went back to Hunter's Dream after being in
Yarghul
, but now the game won't let me select it as a Lamp location. Was I not supposed leave?

Still need help. I tried going back to Cathedral Ward and getting killed by the sack guy again, but no dice. Game spawned me back at CW.

After she gets a smashed up, she leaves a item. After you defeat the Daughter of Cosmos, in the same room, you touch a dead monster and it lets you resurrect the queen.

Oh that's cool, thanks for the info! :)

Do I need to wait to do all this stuff until after I beat
Rom
? Or can I do it now?

Anything above 40 for endurance, and 50 for everything else. You still get an increase in damage for going above say 50 strength, but it can be 4 levels of 0 increase followed by an increase.

The first soft cap is at 25 for most things and 30 for vitality. You still get good gains going above the first soft cap.

The hard cap is 99 I believe, but 51-99 isn't much benefit. Max benefit is 1-25, reduced gains 26-50 but still beneficial, especially vitality. Not sure if you ever get anything for going above 40 endurance.

I've avoided most hunter fights so far. Took out the machine gun guy but left his friend below him alone because he murdered me three times in a row.
Does killing electric hunter unlock bolt paper at merchant?

NPC spoilers:
I'm so sad I didn't get to interact with patches. I killed his ass in the instantly in the college cause I hadn't seen him before. Didn't know you could talk to him.. guess I missed out on a rune. Well in doing so he didn't fuck with me in NF :(, I miss our old times of me being pushed off of ledges.

Don't worry, that lamp is supposed to stop working in a certain part of the game. You can get back there again eventually

I'm noticing that the woman in red I've rescued and is now at the cathedral is
getting more and more sick.
Any way i can help her?

I'm slowly finding myself in a similar situation. I haven't lost any great amount of souls and once I have enough to level up or buy gear, I do. I only grind for souls when I want to stock up on items like molotovs, never levels, but I'm still very rapidly leveling up to where I can easily see myself getting to a very high level by the end (80-ish), compared to Dark Souls where I was about level 60 when I beat it.

I'm stuck at the
Vicar Amelia
fight and I think I need more levels. What's the best place to farm money at this point?

Yeah I was bummed that I didn't find NF until after I found that NPC later. Oh well, one of many things I'll get "right" on my second NG.

Okay, then what is the community agreed self-imposed blood level 'limit' for this game? 100?

Where is good place to farm blood vials? Rom is kind of making my supply dwindle.

I usually go to central yharnun and go left into the house and kill the two werewolves, the giant with the brick. Then I drop down and kill the two giants under the bridge and then go into the elevator and head towards father G's lamp killing everything in my path. By the time I get to the lamp I've usually collected 20 vials. It's the quickest way I've found. There might be shorter loops but I don't like wAsting time loading in and out. In 15minutes you can probably get 120 vials this way

Ha! Too low for
Cainhurst Castle?
Well not too low to slash apart the
Watchdog of the Old Gods
to finish my first chalice dungeon! Felt good.

I found the souls farming in
Hamwick - the area to the left if you are facing Amelia's door - to be a siginificant step up over what I was getting from the Cathedral Ward.

From my souls experience,
if something seems too rough, just fucking book it and zigzag all over the place lol. Yeah this area is rough, but luckily I found a new lantern!

Before you get to that lamp
there's also a key down below. Have to take out one of those bell maidens and a couple of big brick guys. The area the key unlocks has some of the craziest mobs yet. Infuriating actually (for me at least).

That lamp will stop working as you progress. Continue the story, you'll go there eventually
by going far left from Grand Catheral. Although, I'm not sure if that gate opens after killing Amilia or Vacious Spider.

Managed to get through
Cainhurst
without dying, beat
Rom
in about 3 attempts and didn't die once to the hunter before it. Fuck the next area though. I just got to the cathedral with 3 hunters and think I'll just run past everything; bell maiden spawning and multiple hunters at a time is just bullshit.

Finally downed
Father G
and progressed up to the
gatling ambush
.

So glad that bastard is dead...had him down to a sliver of health multiple times and kept choking.

Question for people that have finished it.
I have only consumed two pieces of umbilical cord. Do I need the third one. What is the difference in endings? I never fought that massive spider handed beast, is that the one I'm missing?

It feels like you're meant to sprint through that area. I think it's kinda fun trying to pick up all the loot with 50 things chasing you, but the game can't really keep up and it starts to run like shit.

Is there any way to beat those three hunters who attack you at the same time?

It seems frustratingly impossible.

Yeah I asked this yesterday and got help.
Basically get their attention, leg it downstairs into the bottom basement and lock yourself in a cell. Then with a pokey weapon (Ludwigs sword is ideal) Charge heavy attacks and stab them through the bars. They can't get in the cell

Fucking hell. Ran out of vials while fighting the
Undead Giant
in the Lower Pthumeriam Labyrinth Chalice Dungeon. Bastard nearly had me.

stealth attack first one or just pebble him and instantly run back to lamp. One sticks with you but the others get back to their starting places most of the time. That way you can 1on1 them.

Either ignore them completely, or use the stairs to separate them. I think I was able to get one's attention and bring him down the stairs alone. Separating the other 2 was a lot messier.

Yes, you need to consume 3/4 cord to be able to fight the last boss. Otherwise, game ends with fighting Gehrman. If you want to know the endings, Google for video.

Any idea how to get in there. It says the
door doesn't unlock from that side and she keeps spawning more golems and I can't find her.
