It's a real shock to the system playing Dark Souls II re-release right after having finished 60+ hours of BB. Like, what shockingly different-yet-similar games. Playing DS2 again has given me a kind of new appreciation for what BB does, and playing BB so recently has actually given me a new appreciation for what the DS series is about. Ultimately, I'm kind of going through and comparing them in my head (which is hard, because the re-release has kind of fucked with everything in vanilla DS2), but so far I can only really come to the conclusion that both games do what they do brilliantly, similarly, and yet, couldn't be more different.

I really hope that BB becomes its own series, so I can alternate between DS games and BB games. They play off each other so well.

Does this apply if you hit "Exit Game" when you stop playing but leave the application suspended at the title menu?

too bad it doesn't seem to work for the Defiled bosses lol

well, when i'm playing BB, i think it's similar to a light build in DS where you're using parrying daggers/bucklers instead of the bigass shields.

End game spoiler

Just had a tough battle against
gehrman. I had no more bullets and only a few blood vials. I had to relly on blood bullets to parry and visceral attacks to regain hp.

I SERIOUSLY HAVENT GOTTEN A SINGLE BLOOD STONE CHUNK IN LIKE 12 HOURS.

Fuck this late game farming, I'm glad I'm not the only one complaining and they'll hopefully patch this dumb ass shit soon.

fine for coop but solo is impossible. didn't kill it.

I killed that boss and every other boss solo using Ludwig's exclusively ever since I unlocked it. Got platinum, finished through NG+, etc.

Just gotta know the attack patterns and pick your spot, my attack rating is over 800 with it.

Yeah I wish we could just buy them from an NPC like we could in Dark Souls 1/2. Not this Demon's Souls shit.

Yeah I used the Kirk hammer in hammer mode (which has a similar damage output and speed of attack) and I wrecked it as well. There are tons of videos on youtube of guys killing it using Ludwig's sword.

Yeah, I'm doing a STR build this time (think I went DEX last time), and so walking around with a gigantic hammer, and getting used to much more demanding iframes -- the difficulty in the two games contrast quite a bit. (I think DS2 is more difficult, but I think it comes off as less balanced/more glitchy difficulty, whereas BB is a kind of pitch-perfect difficulty in my eyes).

Such a lucky time to be into these games, though. Getting a DaS3 announcement soon would be game, set and match.

It would be nice if I could take 10 shards and make 1 twin shard, then 10 twin shards for a chunk.

Stop bragging. Hmph

Wouldn't say the same about some of the chalice bosses. Some of that shit was just straight up not fun difficult

was insanely easy once I realized that I was safe from practically everything when using the second floor of the area.

Even managed to find out how to super-cheese him too,
by way of having him stick his head through a wall on the second floor staircase and me abusing the weird collision mechanics by getting free potshots at his head while staying 100% safe behind a wall.

It's something that I really think has to do a bit with the kind of player you are. It's certainly not an objective quality -- I find DS2 harder, in general, but I also only really struggled with maybe 2 bosses in the whole of Bloodborne (BSB and
Pthumerian Descendant in Ithyll Chalice
). Keeping in mind I define struggle as like > 8 tries. The first boss in Lost Bastille had me pulling out my hair today, on the other hand. Like 20 runs before I could nail it :\

edit: There's some legitimately weird "Ok, that's a bug" stuff that goes on in DS2 that drives me crazy, though. BB, other than it's occasional choppiness, I never feel like you die from just completely unfair, or broken mechanics. It's a game that really makes you feel responsible for your deaths, even when the game really banks in favor of the bosses (like Defiled Chalice)

Just beat
Rom
, what a crappy fight. Just running around like a jackass until I saw an opening and cheesing it with the transformed Axe's R2 attack.

Also is there any point in using the Root Chalices?

So Abhorrent Beast and Watchdog of the Old Lords, you just handled that shit no problem? Because hats off if so

The Root Chalices are the randomized ones (in terms of layout/enemies/loot). I've gotten Uncanny weapons and some decent gems from some of them.

So the person you find on the one roof in the Forbidden Woods that
Transforms
Is it really best to kill him on the spot, or does sending him to either place jeopardize me being able to get the best ending? One my first playthrough

He is this game's
Yurt
.
Kill him or he'll murder everyone
.

Both took me two tries each. I'm willing to grant that I could have been really lucky, though.

Pthumerian Descendant though...

edit: I was also lvl 160 coming out of NG+. So I don't know what your level looked like, I'm sure that could have something to do with it.

Don't know who
Yurt
is, this is my first "Souls" game. Although thanks. It was a fun little fight, he hated fire. lol

Ha,
Yurt
is basically the Demon's Souls version of this guy.
He starts murdering everyone in the game hub until you stop him.

I didn't even know you can get to the second floor until after I defeated him. I was dodging the the fireballs like crazy. Pretty stupid of me too since when I was fighting him I was thinking how the battle reminded me of the Tower Knight.

Is there any way not to have my HP and Stamina gimped while summoned? These later bosses just aren't fun as a partner any more.

Doesn't it just take a percentage of both away anyway? I don't think you can stop it, but I guess just keep pumping early levels into both so co-oping isn't as big an issue

crazy xD thanks for the info

A few quick questions. I feel like I'm heading towards the end of the game but I kind of want to explore as much optional stuff as I can.

I'm wearing the
Crown of Illusions
because its description indicates it reveals hidden stuff. So far I can't tell if it does anything at all.

Is there a point of no return? I'm currently in N
ightmare Memphis Middle Loft
, I think I'm just before the boss room.
Creepy lady area, didn't fully explore frenzy infested route yet.
I'd like to try and find secrets or extra weapons before I finish the game so I'd rather not do so accidentally if that can happen.

Anything that I need to be aware of at the top of the tower by the cathedral ward (the healing place or whatever)? The door is locked.

You get the key later, it is called Upper Cathedral Ward key.

On the other hand they did patch Dark Souls so that you could buy titanite chunks.

Wait until you see the next boss lol

The next boss is honestly not that hard. You only have to get him to the phase that he rips his arms off, then just stay behind him and he'll keep jumping away, 40% to 0% is a free kill

I see lots of people complaining about chunks. What's the big deal? You get enough in one play through to take at least 2 weapons to +9. Do you really need more?

They're farming them for PVP chars I think.

That said, why not just go through the game like twice, and use forest skip on NG+?

It does kill you in one hit throughout the whole fight though. The only watchdog attack that'd kill me in one hit was its charge attack and it was easy to avoid. A
mygdala
is easily harder imo.

Question about the NPCs you have to send to the Clinic or the Chapel. The woman that got kidnapped by the Bag holding monsters, the one you have to wear the church garb for to get her to talk to you. Is she the only one you're supposed to send to the clinic?

I believe I heard someone say you need to do that to get the True ending.

Can anyone help me? I'm stuck on where to go next...

I killed Rom, and I know you're supposed to go to that lady that spawns there after you kill Rom but I think I went to the lantern first before going to the lady adn getting to the second floor of the study place to get to nightmare mensis. I tried going back to the lake but she isn't there. Anyone??
